  1. Just out of curiosity why would Alcoa be in a different quadrant than CAK and Loudon?
  2. Who said anything about a blown call? I still think GP wet the field. I'm not whinning... we won the game. You're right, we didn't adjust to the unbalanced line. The coaches were calling it out, they even called a timeout to tell the players to adjust. I don't know why they didn't adjust, but even with that mistake we still won. In spite of that mistake you win. How many times had GP run the same play before they called timeout? And what happens when you do the same against a team the caliber of a Alcoa who can take it to the house every one of those plays? BTW You should have seen the field yesterday after school (even before some of the worst got here). Practice field had more standing water. Funny thing Coach Hammonds said today he wished he had a giant blow dryer to dry field out.
  3. Explain to me how we are a horrible single A team when everyone of our out of district games came against much bigger schools, and they are all, with the exception of PF going to the playoffs, and two of them are ranked in the top 10 in the state. The only game we have lost when we play teams our size is Hampton, and the only two games we were never in was the GP and Claiborne games. We replaced about 80 percent of our offense this year, and every front 7 position on defense had a new starter, so if that is horrible in your book so-be-it, but if we played the Tigers again the outcome might be a little different, but neither of us can hold GP's jock this year! GP vs PF
  4. I've rated A-E highly all year, although I was surprised that the GP game was close, wet field or not. I like your spirit, but you guys just may run into a game or two that you need to worry about before you get your shot at Alcoa. The field was more than just wet. It's hard to understand unless you saw the game in person. By the second half, the commentator could not identify any of the players. The only way to determine what team each player was on was to look at the crown of the helmets... that's the only thing that was not covered in mud. Everybody had mud on them... players that didn't play, coaches, water girls, ball boys. There wasn't a person that was on the field that didn't have mud on them. Players that played had mud caked on their uniforms... it was a big mess... worse than I've ever seen. If you're referring to CAK, I look forward to possibly playing them too... but I don't think that Austin-East, CAK, and Alcoa will be in the same quadrant. So, Austin-East or CAK will have to beat Alcoa to get an Austin-East vs CAK match-up. If you're not referring to CAK... whoever we play we expect to win. It's not that I don't think there will be good competition before Alcoa. I just don't expect Austin-East or Alcoa to lose until they play each other. More than just wet? Why don't you quit whining about the field. Your wrong about coaches wetting field. Just face it and move on. AE has more to worry about than a wet field or refs blowing a call at the end of the game. Bottom line GP almost beat AE because AE didn't make adjustments. Didn't adjust well to GP defense and certainly didn't adjust on GP TD drive. GP ran the same play every down all the way down the field out of an unbalanced line and AE never adjusted. They need to fix those things before they ever worry about Alcoa.
  5. I saw Alcoa last night, and I can't wait for my Roadrunners to see them on the field. It will be a great game. The GP field was not a mess until the game started. Before the game, they had grass on the field, but the entire field had about 1-3 inches of standing water. There were puddles all around the field... you could not get onto the field without walking through big puddles of water. Their practice field was wet, but it didn't have standing water... and their were no puddles of water anywhere else other than around the field. GP watered down the field... probably late at night so nobody would see it. If we end up in the east quad and have to play GP again, then it will be in Knoxville. Even if it does rain, the conditions won't be as bad as they were at GP. I'm not a betting person but I would love to lay some on the line with you & turtle. Maybe a coke & hot dog during basketball season. Sure bet you would lose. The field wasn't watered down other than mother nature. With the rain we've had here nobody needs to. You lost all credibility when you said there was no standing water on the practice field. You must be blind. That is the old baseball field. Why do you think we built a new one. Pure and simple. Drainage problem! Worse than Football Field. Game over. Argument over. Move on. Just be careful what you wish for though you just might get it. And I don't think you want any part of Alcoa.
  6. What do you mean slopped their field? What were they supposed to do? Not play the game. It is kind of hard to control the nature. As to CN, I doubt it. Why would you take the money out of sevier county?
  7. No matter how much speed you have, an offense should not be able to run the ball if the defense has 8-9 players in the box. Fulton had 135 yards. From what I saw in the Fulton/GP game, I thought Fulton was more physical... you disagree. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. In response to who will make the playoffs... If GP wins their last two district games and Austin-East wins 1 of their last two, then Austin-East is first and GP is second. They both get automatic bids in the 3A playoffs. Two 4A teams from the district will get automatic bids to the 4A playoffs. Not finishing first or second in the district will cause Fulton to get a lower seed in whichever quad they are placed. They'll have more aways games... does this make it harder to make the championship? maybe, maybe not Been busy this week and haven't had a chance to post. Just out of curiosity who was more physical between GP and AE? Or better than that who between AE and Fulton? This should be interesting? No matter how many you've got in the box, if you can't catch me you can't tackle me. BEEP BEEP Don't quote me but I believe GP only has to win 1 of their last 2. Maybe someone else out there can clarify.
  8. This is kinda changing the subject but what if GP and AE finish 1 & 2 in the District(Region whatever its called)? Two 3a teams finishing ahead of all the 4a teams. Know that 2 teams from 4a have to make playoffs but how does that effect other districts and will that make it harder for say Fulton to make it to the championship. BTW It has stopped raining in the Burg for now but getting colder. Better wear warm dry clothes (If you're from AE you might want to bring something dry to sit on since we have concrete bleachers.). Should be a great night for football at Hammonds Field.
  9. I think Fulton was more physical. Rushing Yards: Fulton - 135, GP - 14 GP had 9 offensive possessions: 8 punts, 1 TD Fulton had 8 offensive possessions: 3 ended in turnovers Fulton beat themselves with turnovers. The turnovers were not caused by big hits or DBs with great coverage on WRs. The turnovers were due to Fulton mistakes... not taking care of the ball and under throwing WRs. GP is a good team. They play their responsibilities, and they don't make a lot of mistakes. Fulton made one too many mistakes, and GP played a mistake free football game. GP had 8-9 players in the box the entire night and Fulton still rushed for 135 yards. Most of those yards were between the tackles because GP defended the perimeter well. Honestly charger81, does that not tell you that Fulton was more physical? 135 yards with 8-9 in the box... 2 WRs, 1 QB, and a ball carrier only leaves 7 blockers (5 OL, 1 TE, 1 FB)... GP with 14 yards on 27 carries... Fulton was more physical. According to PrepXtra Fulton had 41 carries for 135 yds. Just over 3 yds per carry. Thomas had a long of 18 and Golliday had a long of 24. Subtract those 2 carries and their 39 for 93. Whoppin 2.4 yds per carry. Thats Domination!!! Am impressed that you can count. Sounds like what your trying to say is with 8 or 9 in the box they should have been throwing the football but when you're not very successful what do you do? Besides this thread is about AE and GP. So, will AE be more physical than GP. Sometimes the fact that your successful running the ball isn't just your more physical. (Speed?) BTW It's stilling raining here at the thicket!!!!
  10. What good are predictions anyway? I didn't read a lot of comments after the Fulton game. Would have thought there would be many more since noone gave GP a chance to begin with. Since you like predictions I'll make one. The field will be a sloppy mess tonight. BTW Where does everyone get that Fulton dominated every where but the scoreboard and was much more physical than GP?
  11. You think GP doesn't have players that go both ways? Good teams capitalize on their opportunites. Last time I checked GP played on the same wet field and QB had to throw a wet ball too. As far as questionable calls I think that depends on you ask. I'm sure a Fulton fan would say questionable. But don't think you will find a GP fan that will agree. Good game. GP just happened to be the better team that night. Bout time to move on to this weeks games. P.S. Just drove by Hammonds field and thought the sprinklers were on. LOL.
  12. Heard Union Co coach is going there. Any truth?
  13. As usual you sound intelligent until you open your mouth. After the way the Cheek kid acted at GP after the game and the coach chose not to discipline him the next game. Lot of room to talk. Just plain ole sour grapes. "Plain old truth"? Provide a few true facts. On second thought forget it, this thread is about the Mo East job. Good luck next year maybe CG can finually win some championships with GP gone from that district.
  14. Not a Pigeon Forge fan but am a fan of the game. Justin Carter threw a perfect game no hitter on Saturday Night in the district tournament. Anyone can appreciate the performance. Kid struck out 16 batters (12 in a row at one time). Facing 21 batters for the game and allowing no baserunners.
  15. Now there's the pot calling the kettle black. You must not have been at the District Championship. Oh yeah I forgot. That was actually mainly the Grainger student section. Why would you not want Carter to do well at the state. Only makes Union look better.
  16. blowout? seems to me that it was 1-0. Big blowout. Wonder how many of your oponents pictures have been in the BHOF. Seems i remember some of GP oponents pictures there why touring.
  17. Grainger will have to play a lot better than they did against Claiborne last night. Looked like since that weren't in the championship game that they didn't have much to play for. Guess someone forgot to tell them basketball is a tournament sport.
  18. No thoughts from anyone about tonights championship other than "tigersforeverlast" thoughts.
  19. Find something else to whine about. Who died and made you a basketball guru. If you don't know anything about basketball you could watch the game film a hundred times and you still wouldn't know if there were bad calls or not. Just a thought. You said according to the "game film" McBee was hit from behind. How did he then go backwards and hit Sims with the back of his head? Strange? Since you made such a big deal about Placeres being on the court and are a self proclaimed basketball genius explain that TSSAA coaching box rule. (Oh, by the way, they use NFHSA rules anyway.) And "if" you were a player one trip down the court would take care of it! If!If!If! Get a life. You've rode this horse for 2 years. I think Placeres still plays in the Rocky Top league. If you're that impationed about it go take him on in that league. Oh, probably not good enough?
  20. Well said. Gained some respect when the kids from South Greene helped the GP kid. Not typical of a GP-SG matchup. Gained a little more with your post. By the way -------- it's raining at the Burg.
  21. CG really gonna be that good thought they lost several players to graduation. Also, heard UC lost a key starter, any truth to this?
  22. Make a better comparison than his dad. If GP's program is right, they were something like 3-7 the first year, 4-6 the second and third years and 8-3 the fourth year.
  23. How do you figure? How many completions did PF have any way?
  24. The older Brackins was actually defensive captain his senior yr when they won the national championship. And yes Pittser is back. They will have to fill a few positons on the line and some skill positions due to graduation but should be a pretty good year. As for them being moved back into PFs region would mean that GP is moved to AAA or PF moved to AA.
  25. You know everyone likes to get on here and talk trash and being a GP fan it's certainly hard to ever cheer for PF but our thoughts and prayers certainly go out to you today. Will the game still be played tonight?
