General, Privilege? There's a reason kids get sent to private schools...because they can. I'd much rather coach at a private school than public. The kids are privileged with wealth/circumstance. The coaches are generally privileged with more talent. It is frustrating for a public school coach to work with what he has and lose every year to privates. Evidently, this is one those issues that it depends what side of the issue you fall on, but you mentioned competition. If private schools continually win state titles and publics are left out, then there is no competition. I hope I didn't step on your toes but that's the way I see it. There might be change,there might not. As long as the powers that be (TSSAA) continue to make money on the tourney, I guess nothing will change. But the issue won't go away.

Amen Brother Bush League. The privileged private school guys will never get it. So..beat our kids on the field, but DO NOT, say that privates have superior coaching as a blanket statement. Thanks.

University High is technically a public school but is really a private school. I've always heard they had a waiting list for admission.

This issue isn't going away until some public schools win a state title. Private school fans should accept this as long as they are dominating Tn high school sports. Right or wrong, that's the way it is. When and if, (and what a big IF) public schools start to win again, then private schools will complain about the playing field. Such is life...
