Gosh Moc! Coaching already keeping you up at night?

I saw West play Central. Pearl is a decent player and shoots the play pretty good from the outside. Post play is o.k. but Smith should have his way if he wants to. Guards are decent, handle the ball well, and are more likely to hurt you with penetration than the jump shot. Defense is average and they will press. Knowing your personel you should match up pretty well and are better at 3 positions Conner, Hargis, and Smith. Should be a win for Powell. But like always if you let them hang around they could make it interesting.

Looking at this District after a couple of weeks of play it appears O.R. is the best team. With Powell and Clinton a very close second. Halls is 4 but there lack of depth could be a major factor as the year goes on. One injury could drop the Devils to the bottom. They don't have one quality player off of the bench. West is next. Karns , Central, C.C. will bring up the rear with anyone of those 3 able to pull off am upset on any given night.

My comment was based on my opinion not actual records. I will predict when Halls plays Clinton and Powell they will be defeated. Thus I speculate when it is all said and done O.R. will win the district, Powell and Clinton will battle for second and Halls will be a solid 4 th. if they can avoid injuries. West will come in at #5 Karns will be 6 th., and Central and Campbell County will batlle for the cellar. In Centrals case that would be ashame because they have the atheletes to be in the top 4.

West 56

Powell 66

Good, hard fought game. I was really impressed with West. They play really hard and Pearl makes his teammates better.

Congratulations to Powell on their victory over West. Gotta say I wasn't too surprised by this win simply because Powell has a good team. Pearl didn't show much, but hey everyone has an off night. I am wondering what the issue is with Smith not starting and if it's a wise move to mess with the line up like that? Seems to me it's a head game that will ultimately backfire, but then again that doesn't surprise me either. Powell traditionally plays head games with their athletes.

About Smith not starting. I am going to speculate. I have know information to validate this but I am familiar with his past when he was at Central. At Central he had a problem with getting to practice on a consistent basis as well as some attitude issues which got him in hot water. Now I am not saying that is the case at Powell. I know Coach can be pretty hard nose and maybe he is drawing a line in the sand before the season gets to far gone. The football team had a series of discipline problems that disrupted the team. Maybe Ogan is just trying to assure that doesn't happen with the basketball team. Maybe he just wanted to look at a different line-up?

But I don't think he was just messing with someones head and I certainly don't think that is a tradition among the coaches at Powell.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
