REGION-2 DUAL MEET TOURNAMENT

KARNS HIGH SCHOOL WILL HOST THE REGION-2 DUALS THIS YEAR UNDER A DIFFERANT FORMAT. THE TOP EIGHT TEAMS WILL ADVANCE TO THE DUALS BASED ON THEIR RECORDS. KARNS WILL SET-UP 4-MATS AND THE TOURNAMENT WILL BE COMPLETED ON THAT NIGHT. THE CHAMPION WILL ADVANCE TO THE STATE DUALS IN CLARKSVILLE. THE SECOND PLACE TEAM MUST TRAVEL TO REGION ONE ON FRIDAY (1-27) TO FACE THE REGION ONE SECOND PLACE TEAM. THE WINNER OF THAT MATCH WILL ADVANCE TO THE STATE DUALS ALSO.

1-MARYVILLE, 2-WM BLOUNT, 3-KARNS, 4-SOUTH-DOYLE, 5-WEST, 6-FARRAGUT, 7-BEARDEN & 8-SEVIER COUNTY.

 

THE WEIGH-IN IS AT 5:30 AND WRESTLING STARTS AT 6:30PM. THE SEMI-FINAL LOSERS WILL WRESTLE FOR 3RD AND 4TH PLACE.

 

EVERYONE COME TO KARNS THURSDAY AND SUPPORT YOUR FAVORITE WRESTLERS AND TEAMS.

So besides Maryville for 1st place who has the best shot for second?

To me it looks like WB and SD Then Karns and Farragut in the mix for 3rd and forth.

IMO- the SD assist coach wants to make a point and wants to show the region what a team with his help can do. Karns has some strong weights classes but is not a strong team top to bottom, same for Farragut.

It is my understanding that this is a bracketed tournament. Therefore, as 4th seed, SD will have to beat Maryville in the semifinals to have a shot at placing #1 or #2. Wm. Blount, Karns and Farragut are in the lower half of the bracket and would have a better shot at being #2 (assuming Maryville wins #1).

Thanks, I hadn't seen that and your right. In that case a would give Farragut a shot at second, it will be a chance to show they have a team and not just great individual champions.

This is the first time I can remember WB having this good of a record. I'm looking forward to watching them as an dual team.

Thanks for all the info! Even with Maryville and WB in the mix to make it to State, our newspaper down here doesn't give them enough coverage. Sounds like it will be an electric atmosphere with the top teams all in one gym. See you guys there!
