Re "Winter Sports: Basketball, Wrestling

End of school until July 15--15 days of practice, 10 of which may

be school vs. school competition. Dead Period--The week preceding the Fourth of July week and the week of the Fourth of July. There can be no coaching, contact

with any players. All school’s indoor facilities must be closed unless approval in writing by the TSSAA. No change. July15-October 15- No practice, no open facilities; voluntary weight training and conditioning permitted as long as open to all students and not sport specific.

October 15-Practice begins; no scrimmages or work with another school until November 1. March 15 until end of school-10 days of practice within 15 schools

days; no scrimmages.

Changes in number of contests allowed as follows;

Basketball-26 to 24

Wrestling-20 to 18, maximum of 4 tournaments "

How much more regulation do we need ? If Carter and the rest of the bozo brigade want to do something here are a few suggestions:

Make the state tournament double elimination

Move the dual tournament to a larger location

Add at least 4 teams to the A/AA division at duals

When faced with a minor rules infraction, give the benefit of doubt to the wrestlers and let them wrestle. The " biting " incident and the farce of disqualifying the Seymore team at states shows a total contempt for the sport and those who participate. No such thing as " reasonable man " approach with TSSAA.

If they ( TSSAA) can't do anything positive, coaches should at least encourage them to do nothing.

these two subjects seem to be un-related. both important, but one does not directly effect the other. Duals location vs. off season weight training?

The issue is overregulation of the sport by a dictatorship. The duals location and other suggestion were thrown in as example of some potential positive changes that could be made rather than further hamstringing successful programs with needless and mindless rules.
