State Tournament Strength

Is it just me, or do these teams look a lot weaker than teams in the past? The White Station teams of the earlier 2000's would beat these teams easily. The White County, Columbia, Science Hill, and Brainerd teams of the 90's would also beat any of these teams. To me, this year's tournament talent level looks way down.

You cannot necessarily say that. The competition might be greater today or it was down then.

Too bad that the west is giving it up to the East this year, guess it has to Happen, Would like to see a VERY TALENTED Maryville team win it all.

 

As far as talent, I havnet seen this many D1 prospects in a while, just seems to be a lot more selfish players who cant pass the ball.

Did you actually see any of those teams play?? I saw them all and there is no way that any of the teams now would beat them. I do hope that Maryville pulls off the win tomorrow. I really like how yall play tough basketball.

I would not say Maples and Douglas are selfish, you also see Basile and Damron have excellent games. Thanks for the backup by the way and dont forget, your Panthers did beat us in the region championship game, unfortunately for you all, you were put against a tallented Oakland team first round. Would have loved to see a MHS PHS rematch.

I feel the level of talent and D1 caliber talent is missing from this year's field, but how could you match the rare year we had last year in which there were 5 teams that were at one time in the year ranked nationally or in the southeast. It seems that outside of AA there isn't a very clear cut favorite. The level playing field has provied some great close games. Just a thought but im gonna throw this out there so you guys can debate it: Last year going into the AA title game everyone, including myself felt it was Mitchell all they way. They were expirenced, TALENTED, and it was their time. No knock to Liberty of last year but it was pretty much the consensus pick that Mitchell would take it. How did it turn out, Liberty with a young team knocked off Mitchell with their 3 D1 signees. Not likely, but what if this year the roles reversed and the much higher regarded Liberty was knocked off by a young Mitchell team. I highly doubt it, but stranger things have happened. Whatever happens, I'm looking forward to a great final to this season.

every year is different, this is like saying the Bulls of the Jordan era are so much better than the NBA today, This isnt an all start game or a Year to year battle, its what is happening now, sorry that your team isnt what it used to be, but This is what we have now.
