QUOTE(icecold06 @ Apr 9 2007 - 12:25 PM) 826433113[/snapback]Temple was not dominant before the Skogens in the 90's they were competeing with the likes of Lookout Valley, CSAS, Boyd Buchanan, and CCS no one team ever dominated Single A from 91-97

But they were very good. Didnt Josh Templeton and Gabe Johnson play for a state title? thats no to shabby.

They played for a title when CSAS was not in single a. Temple had some good teams in the pre-Skogen era, but they did not win anything, and certainly were not dominant. The Patriots have consistently beat Temple when they have played over the years....check the records. Lookout Valley, Sale Creek, City, Boyd, CCS, were all better in the pre-Skogen era as well.

The state title Temple played for was in 1998. They lost to Ezell-Harding in double overtime. This is just my opinion, but from about 1986 through the present, the single A district in the Chattanooga area (later split into two districts) especially in the top four or five spots, was as tough and competitive as any in the state. I believe the records will bear that out. CSAS and City bounced back and forth between A and AA (even Tyner was in A for a while) and BBS and CCS have been multiplied up to AA. Certainly Temple, Grace and CSAS have been as good as anyone for the last two years, but for a long stretch before that no one team dominated more than a couple of years at a time. BBS, CCS, City, Lookout Valley, Temple, CSAS and even Grace took turns being the big dog. Even Charleston, South Pittsburg, Copper Basin and Whitwell had their moments during that time span.

Here's some history. Some of it would be considered "ancient" by some of you. In the scheme of things, it is all fairly recent. Feel free to add or correct anything you see. I feel fairly confident in most everything on here.
