Indoor Track and Field

After moving to Tennessee last year, I found out that indoor T & F is not a recognized sport by TSSAA. I wanted my son to be able to compete in the indoor meets in Alabama but the folks in Alabama will only allow athletes who are representing their schools to participate (no AAU clubs, etc.). What is the process of working with TSSAA to try to get indoor recognized as a sport so a Tennessee school can send athletes to these meets (TSSAA start dates for outdoor track practice and meets would preclude a Tennessee school from practicing and participating in track meets in December, January and February)? Does anyone have a guess as to how likely it would be that TSSAA would approve this?

just call the meet director of whatever meet you want to go to and they will probly be more than happy to talk to the national high school federation and get you sanctioned. then you just compete as unattatched or for a club (you can compete for track clubs without breaking tssaa rules, even if you just want to make up a track club for a day). for example teammates of mine at BA have competed as unattatched or for the Brentwood Track Club, which doesn't exist. meet directors are more often than not extremely nice and willing to help out if possible, especially if you have someone who is really good.

    • Yeah, we came up short. I remember we threw a ball over the middle to #5 Guymon? and he came up short of the sticks. Gave em he&& for a bit though.
    • Doe dee doe doe…..hmmmmmmm one of those players can run faster than my lawnmower when I put it in 5th gear turbo.  You can bet the lawnmower on that.
    • Yeah I am on board and plan on coming down from the Ridge for some home games, great Friday night atmosphere there.  I'm really hoping SC can get them back going and have some success for those fans and community.
    • Yep I was field level on the scoreboard end throwing ball with Benny when we had that brief lead. Everybody got very excited but it was short lived as Murvil regrouped and went into machine mode. But yeah,  that hit sounded like the crack of a black powder rifle being fire.  I believe Dozier took one like that as a Soph up at Greeneville after on olay block.
    • Ole Benny boy lol. I forgot about Harder. He was tough as crap. He graduated in ‘09. I went to the OR/Maryville game that year (great game, btw) and he collided with Jacob West (I think was his name) and you could hear it clearly at the top of the visitor bleachers. Man, it was a stick. He could lay some wood son. All those guys were tough, Elliott included.
