District 6

Rumor has it that Hixson and Soddy Daisy are in the finals for the District 6 tournament....BOYS AND GIRLS!

If this is true, that means Hixson's boys defeated Sequatchie County.

That brings to mind this post:

The Sequatchie County boys are on fire! They are most definitely STATEBOUND. They have been unfailing in, not only their humble attitudes, but also their ability to not squabble about technicalities, and simply do their best. Thus far, their best, is THE best, and it looks to continue on this way.

And this one:

hixson lanes have a groove in them as soon as your ball hits that groove in makes in to the pocket. if your shot is not play the groove you can find a shot where you can hit five different broads. at sequatchie lanes you have a 2 to 3 broad radii to hit. so i am trying to say if you want is you haft to be more precise and consistent at scquatchie than hixson

Sometimes you don't need to get ahead of yourselves.

Anyway, way to go Hixson!

Catsbackr,

I hate to change the subject but the board won't allow me to send a PM.

How do you choose your brackets in district 6? Today in district 5 we had #6 against #7 and #2 against #3 in the first round! Always in the past it's been the #1 with at buy if there's an odd number of teams and then it went #2 against the lowest, #3 against the next lowest and so on. If the board will allow you to PM me, please feel free.

Well, it is over. Soddy Daisy Boys are the District Championships with an excellent showing. Scott Demirjian had an incredible day, averaging over 230! Hixson did beat Sequatchie quite resoundingly in the semi-finals but was defeated by the Trojans in the finals.

Hixson Girls won the District Championships, defeating runner-up Soddy Daisy Lady Trojans. Hixson has a deep team of talent and their girls are a well oiled team. I suspect, however, both girls' teams end up at the state and may possibly face each other again in the state finals.

Congratulations to both Soddy Daisy and Hixson for a job well done in District 6. The best teams made the finals!

If a bracket is structured properly in a 7 team bracket, Team 2 faces 7, 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5. The No. 1 team receives a bye and faces the winner of the 4 vs 5 match. The other two winners face each other. The District director probably has discretion on how they line up, but the coaches should have made an inquiry before the competition started.

I am going to refer this to catcoach. He can give an answer regarding the brackets.

I agree. This is only my second year as coach and so I'm still trying to catch on. My conversation yesterday with the coach in charge this year didn't give any indication that the bracket would be wrong because he told me who we were bowling and that was correct. We are the #5 team and we were bowling the #4 team. The coaches for the #2 and especially the #3 team were not happy with the bracket, but the #2 coach who had the most experience of the two came into the meeting late and didn't realize until the first match had started that there was a problem. It ended up that the #6!!! team got a bye because the #7 team didn't show up. It should have been the #2 team with the bye and the #3 team should have been bowling the #6 team, who they had beaten both times this year, and would probably have made it into the semis. I'm sure the outcome of the tournement would not have changed, but it's the principle of the thing.

I would think the standard bracket would apply, 1 vs bye ,2 vs 7, 3vs 6, 4 vs 5. And if #7 team did't show up #2 would recieve forfiet and move on.
