Richland should be at the top they are returning every starter, but Culleoka will be good coming off a strong finish from last year, but you can't count out CA with Workman on the hill, and the some thing of Cornersville with Cole

Culleoka's baseball coach has worked hard with this team, and the guys have been putting hours into running and conditioning, which is sure to pay off. Look out for the Culleoka guys to put the wood to the ball and be the team to beat! WATCH OUT, RICHLAND!!! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

With Richland's suprise run to state last year they have to be the favorite with their offensive ability, they are all solid hitters, especially their catcher. Culleoka was strong last year but they lost a lot of seniors i think like 5 but their 3 seniors this year are all some of the best in the district so it will really depend on the new players coming in to step up if they want to have a successful year. With Cole on the mound for Cornersville they will win some ballgames but i dont know much about them this year. CA, like Culleoka, lost a lot of seniors as well but they still have that kid with the goofy throwing motion who actually was a really good pitcher still on the team so i believe them and Cornersville will end up around the same place this year. I dont know much about Huntland but i think they also lost a lot of seniors.

How does everyone else rank the teams in the district this year? I see it as

1. Richland

2. Culleoka

3. Cornersville

4. CA

5. Huntland

6. Santa Fe

7. Moore County

I'm not so sure anyone should put CA at 4th place. When Workman is on the mound he usually only needs a run or two to win a ball game. He is very effective and most teams in the district will see him once if not twice during the season. CA also has Ayers who will be available about 3 weeks into the season. Williams will probably be the # 3 when Ayers gets in the rotation. Workman and Ayers would be most teams # 1 and # 2 pitcher in this area. Williams is a solid SS when he is not pitching. Shively will log some innings from the mound that should help CA out. CA has another pitcher (Taylor) that will be available a couple weeks before District Tournaments start that will definately help. He is a lefty. I think the biggest questions for CA is who will handle the catching duties now that Jumper is gone and can they score enough runs to support their pitching staff.

A. Workman can't pitch every game

B. You will have to be able to hit because 1 or 2 runs will not do it against any decent team

C. You have to have a defense behind Workman so your "needed 1 or 2 run lead" can hold up

D. CA does not have this because they lost everybody

A. I didn't say Workman would pitch every game. I said every team in the district would probably see him at least once if not twice. The schedule works in CA's favor that they can pitch him. They do not play district games back to back like most districts do. When Workman is on the mound I have to give the advantage to CA

B. With Workman on the mound 1 or 2 runs can win a ball game for CA. I have seen Workman pitch a numerous amount of times.

C. Yes, the defense will be an issue. I even think hitting will be an issue with the team. I think the pitching is the strongest point and will do well enough to help win CA games. The middle infield will be solid with Williams at SS and Boshers at 2B. Shively and Dugger will do a good job at 1B. I'm not sure who will be on the hot corner. OF I am also not very sure of.

D. CA did lose a lot but not everything. Workman and Williams are returning with the new additions of Ayers and Taylor. Some of the young players will step up and hopefully fill some big shoes.

I am not saying that CA will win the District but I am saying I don't think they will be as bad as most think. CA has a shot to win every game that Workman pitches. You got to give him credit. Richland is the best team with the most talent hands down. Culleoka has good talent but still has some question marks.

Now I would like to see the Richland vs CA game when Workman and Parsons are pitching against each other. I give the upper hand to Richland just a lot more talent but it could be an awesome game.

  • 2 weeks later...

What does CA have offensively now though? They lost every power hitter that they had. I don't think anyone is worried about their D is the offense that's a question mark

Hitting is the big question for CA. They will not be a power hitting team like they have been the last few years. They will have to manufacture runs with bunting, stealing, hit and run, etc...
