silverpie
Multipliers. 1.5 for private schools not giving financial aid, 2.0 for those that do (choice of using the old quota rule, with a quota added for bowling, or a percentage-of-students rule). Five classes in football, three in baseball/softball/basketball, two in all other sports (except for one-class events in bowling, singles/doubles tennis, and traditional wrestling). Use a variant of ELA's plan to draw up the football playoffs. (My two criticisms of it are that the choose-8-games rules, while I see the logic, creates too many headaches with games counting for one team but not the other; and that opponents' classification is noise data-wise--a weak opponent is a weak opponent, be they 1A or 5A.) Keep the current plan for other sports (but do something about the inequities of A-AA districts, especially in golf, and extend the new 8-team structure for boys soccer to the girls). If you want to hear some more-radical plans, I have those too.
southernpride
Someone talked about the reasons for only 8 games counting on another thread. It would allow the larger schools to play down for local rivalries without it hurting them in the playoff picture while smaller schools may want to use those numbers to justify playing up! Some other states use something like this!
