Summertown High School Softball coach Bobby Wyrick marked a

milestone on March 15th that is rarely seen in High School sports.

Wyrick won his 600th game as a High School softball coach in Savannah,

as the Lady Eagles downed Haywood County 21 to 0 in the Hardin County

Tournament. Then, in the second game of the night, the Lady Eagles tacked

on win number 601, with a 10-0 victory over Scotts Hill.

Wyrick has coached the SHS softball team for 30 years – and is currently in

his 31st season. Wyrick has been the only head coach of the SHS

Softball program since its inception. Wyrick and Curtis Peters started

the SHS Softball program in the 1979-1980 school year, the second year that

the TSSAA recognized girls' softball as a sanctioned sport.

Ø During that time, he has amassed a record of 601-259, for a winning

percentage of 70%.

Ø During this time period, he has a District record of 259-45, for a

winning percentage of 85%

Ø The best single-season record was posted by the 2005 Lady Eagle

squad, which posted a 37-6 record.

Ø Over these 30 years, Coach Wyrick and the Lady Eagles/Eaglettes

have –

> Captured 23 regular-season District Championships

> Captured 21 District Tournament Chapionships

> Made 14 Sub-State Appearances

> Made 2 State Tournament Final Four appearances (1983 and

1984)

Congratulations to Bobby, and all of his current & former Lady

Eagle/Eaglettes players over the past 30 years that made this accomplishment

possible !!!

Congrats to Coach Wyrick and Coach Peters. Summertown has been a model of success for small rural schools for many years. Having watched 1A softball the last several years Summertown has consistently been one of the top 4 or 5 teams in the state. Unfortunately for them, however, they have been in the same region as Columbia Academy and Cornersville and have regularly seen Forrest in the substate. I hope the Summertown fans really appreciate the success of the program.

Yep. The toughest path to the state tourney historically has always been thru regions 5 and 6. That has not changed in my opinion. However, I do believe we are seeing with the rise of Trinity, Huntingdon, and lately Grace Baptist of Chattanooga that the tourney field overall is more competitive in recent years.

    • It was not ACHS at all, they have zero reason to worry about Clinton.  It had to do with a kid (non football player)  that had a charge and appeared in front of the juvenile judge.  The judge saw that the kid was way behind credit wise for his grade and told him to reappear in a month with a plan to graduate.  When the kid reappeared he had more that twice the credits than one month before.  The judge called BS and contacted the school.  That is what started the investigation.  This involves multiple students, but to this point no athletes are involved.
    • I believe the Covington Chargers travel to Trenton Peabody for a scrimmage today? Anyone going to this? Curious how the Chargers will do.
    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
