Happy Valley New Coach?

What your not mentioning in there is that the Kids have to buy in to what the coach is selling. He could be trying to do the right thing.(lets not forget that they were pretty good up until this years debacle.) when you arent winning, these kids real character shows and they start to question their coaches. You dont wake up one season and decide to change the way you coach your football team, you just role through the punches with the kids you have. Sometime you have soldiers, sometimes you have quitters. I havent seem them this year, but I know from the past I have always heard he is a pretty good X's and O's guy and runs a good program.But as always the coach is the scapegoat. Grass aint always greener on the other side, so before you fire the landscaper, look at the quality of your seeds.

 

the main point is that shivly prides himself on his attention to discipline and "trying to make fine happy valley boys" but he only punishes kids who arent natural athletes. there is a double standard. you gotta understand that now a days there is not a whole lot of parenting going on at home sometimes these coaches are all that stands between a kid and his future you have to have a strong coach who will disipline kids and cares about them there are way too many punks walking around happy valley halls right now because of weak parenting and weak coaching

Great to see you back on the T Pain.....Been a while since I've checked in. How's the family? Wife and daughters doing well? Suze hanging in there?

Glad to see you've finally taken my advice and joined up (instead of just creep reading like a coward J/K). My oldest has taken to volleyball, which has me jumping around every middle school gym in the state. How's Lisa? And the mother-in-law is doing much better buddy thanks for asking.

nobody buys into what he is selling because he doesnt sell it to every kid equally. go read his articles in the paper and talk to some of the boys. from what they say he has no idea what he is doing "he talks about running triple option like georgia tech, yet doesnt run it at all like them." one boy told me "elizabethton better be ready week one we run triple option. week two we run shotgun. this week we are running the zone... they wont be ready at all..." of course everyone knows how that game ended. and those boys won their conference in 8th grade im pretty sure as well as the juniors... shivlys first senior class was 5-5 in middle school his second 1-7 all this crap about shivly not having talent is a load of bull they have plenty of talent i wasnt a fan of verran but at least he didnt waste talent like shivly is doing......

 

make any excuse you want i will call you out on it im sick and tired of weak happy valley parents and weak happy valley coaches hurting my program

the pee wee team has won more then the high school.... but then again i bet they have all the talent in the world dont they?

I'm sure the teams of the 3 Rivers would much rather face a Happy Valley team coached by your pee wee league than a coach that has taken his program to the playoffs 2 out of 2 years. Oh well, I guess when parents are mad, kids are quitting and jumping ship, it's automatically gotta be the coach's fault.

I'm starting to get the hang of it Pain. Finally got me an internet phone to get on here with. Lisa's hangin in there. She got layed off 3 weeks ago. Not a bad deal though because she's getting to spend more time with the Dusty and Sam, so they're loving it of course. Hard to believe it was almost 4 months ago watching our two play down in Pulaski. Good times. Can't wait for spring.

 

Anyway, I think I may be making the trip over the mountain to watch C. Doak play Cum. Gap. That'll be a good one. Still saying Gap by 20 though. What about you?

pssshhhhh HE took the team to the playoffs that sounds just like something shivly would say. no the 3 rivers im sure are fine facing a coach whos only real experience outside of happy valley was coaching freshman offense at science hill. you wanna talk about some coaches that wasted some talent there randy ferrel shivly and overbay all wasted tons of talent at science hill. but on happy valley do you know shivly nor his players have ever watched film in the 3 years hes been there? there workouts were weak ive watched a couple practices they are weak everything about shivly is weak happy valley boys cant be led by a weak coach who thinks he is still coaching freshman ball at science hill where they enough athletes to make up for poor coaching

Awful news about Lisa, but when you have two bruisers like yall do that's a full time job in itself. We both better watch 'em play as much as we can now because they'll be out of our doors before you know it. Never regret spending time with the ankle biters. By the way, I still have that yo-yo from the Pulaski trip if Sam gets to yapping HAHA.

 

I just can't see Gap outgunning Doak by 20. Not with Mallone back there lurking. I hope he gets to play more defense honestly. I'll say Doak by 3 in a nailbiter.

Overbay wasted talent? To my knowledge Science Hill's defense was the best thing it had going under the previous staff and he was the DC. Sounds like you have a major ax to grind with anything Science Hill related. I know I wouldn't mind having Overbay on the staff of my team. And you mean to tell me that you KNOW that a head coach and team have NEVER watched film? How in the world do you even know that? That's a pretty ridiculous thing to say unless you were on his staff or team.
