Looking for PE/coaching openings for 2013-14

I am looking to make a move to Tennesee, hopefully before next school year. For the past 14 years I've been teaching high school Phys Ed and coaching wrestling in Cedar Rapids, Iowa . I have been a head coach for the past 12 years. The last 11 at the same school. I have family in Chattanooga so around that area would be ideal but I am definitely willing to expand my search to other areas of the state.

First off, my team has road tripped to Tennesse for Team Camp the past 3 years with plans to go back again this summer. Our kids absolutely love attending camp and I have enjoyed the state even more, hence the wanting to move there.

As far as coaching, my last 11 years as head coach has been the most valuable experience. The opportunity to run all facets of a program has been great. Also, I would never trade the experience I have gained from my current job, I admire the people I work with, I'm just looking into the possibility to move on. Wrestling wise, our team successes have been mimimal because we forfeit multiple weights each year. Yes, some teams in Iowa have trouble filling line ups, eventhough wrestling is king. There are a few factors for this but now is not the time to go into that. However, even with small numbers we have managed to coached multiple state placewinners, finalist, and champions. I was also on the Team Iowa Jr. Freestyle coaching staff for 5 years (2 as head coach). During that time I traveled with our Cadet/ Jr teams to the National Duals and National Championships in Fargo.

I am not necessarily looking for a head coaching position, I would be more than happy to be an assistant of any capacity. Landing a teaching position is the main focus, without that, I can not move. I'm just hoping for an opportunity to help a program and learn how you do things in the south. As well as maybe add a little touch of Iowa. If any of you hear/know of anything, would like more information about me, and/or would like a motivated, experienced teacher/coach, please contact me at m.hatcher94@gmail.com or call me at 319-533-3709. I can also send my resume if there is any interest. Thanks for your time.

    • What we have here is an influx of outsiders raining down on the town of Maryville like a swarm of locust trying to change our culture into the same crap they moved away from. I have no issues with anyone coming here but don't bring your politics with you. Most people around here never pay attention to the elections and keep letting the same ole rats and vermin right back in the back door and wonder why things are like they are. The problem at Maryville High is mainly due to letting outsiders get a foothold on control and shove their agenda down everyone's throat. Anyone that leaves there or let's say ranoff are replaced with an outsider with the same mindset. Eventually Maryville High will never be the same as it once was which I'm beginning to believe already but it's only chance of survival are to recruit people that will get in there and reverse the damage that has already happened.

    • Athletics is just a piece. It can help them academically, socially and add confidence. I was still 17 when I finished my first quarter at UT. I was the last to get my driver's license. It's not always just for athletics.
