West @ Anderson County 3rd Rd!

West's OL is built on speed as with most veer offenses. We average about 230-260 but they can move. We trap and pull well and the backs hit the hole so fast that we do not have to maintain leverage at the point of attack but would rather punch and climb. We start 3 So.(including TE), 1 Jr. and 2 Sr.

As to our DL, we run 2 lines. One heavy and one a speed line on down and distance. We run a 3-4. Our heavy DL is all about gap control and freeing up our LBs and SS to make plays.. Our NT is over 300 and the DEs are around 230-240. Watford is a converted LB that now plays DE and he is all over the place. Tremendous athlete and strong.

To the question about Maryville, plain and simple it's Quarles. We will have a chance next year because we will be senior heavy and very talented if Cummings could just get out of his own way.

Sounds like you are in the know....player or coach??

What did ya think Jeopardy??

Well it is not as bad I thought; for us that is, but it will be a rough road. I do not want to say much. We have some big time tweaks and adjustments. One thing I would let Davey know is you can not kick to them. I do not care what we do all night the big thing is do not kick to them. I would say the edge but QB Marshal alone will get you on draw if we are not looking. Cotrell on the edge and hodge off tackle. Triple threat and tripple work for the coaches this week. Like I said I am thankful for the opportunity to play West. :)

Daveys my nephew I like throw in my two sense when listens. LOL

I think we can handle the defense effectively. I am really not worried there. I do not know why, just an asumption I guess. Believe it or not the two hour film took me 4 hour; rewinding taking notes. I am crazy but this team (West) is one team to be ready, keeping it respectable. West loves to run east and west if they were in a close one I would think they would get tired so they score quickly and take there teams out of the game early.

I dont know I have watched what we can do even if it takes 4 downs. Of course with our work hourse out we will have to mix it up and we are pretty good at anything we do we just are not really good like West. Sicne we have good skills a little every where we will have to use the kitchen sink. LOL :)

I'm hoping the work horse is good to go!

84 I guarantee that is no West fan...Just someone trying to get under your skin. I have a lot of admiration for what the Price Twins have done at CC...Like I said I remember when they were everyone's homecoming. I think Campbell Co has a great future ahead of it and unfortunately ran into a West team that is on a mission.

As for the fan support...its not surprising to this alum. Last week it was colder against Crockett and not many were there either. If West does beat AC I really hope people do show up to support this team with a possible trip to state on the line.

Good Luck next year!

Good luck to West.  Best team I've seen in person in four years.

    • Yeah I am on board and plan on coming down from the Ridge for some home games, great Friday night atmosphere there.  I'm really hoping SC can get them back going and have some success for those fans and community.
    • Yep I was field level on the scoreboard end throwing ball with Benny when we had that brief lead. Everybody got very excited but it was short lived as Murvil regrouped and went into machine mode. But yeah,  that hit sounded like the crack of a black powder rifle being fire.  I believe Dozier took one like that as a Soph up at Greeneville after on olay block.
    • Ole Benny boy lol. I forgot about Harder. He was tough as crap. He graduated in ‘09. I went to the OR/Maryville game that year (great game, btw) and he collided with Jacob West (I think was his name) and you could hear it clearly at the top of the visitor bleachers. Man, it was a stick. He could lay some wood son. All those guys were tough, Elliott included.
    • They do have good community support for sure and did when I coached under Z for 4 years. (I was on that staff that turned them around a little from winning 1 game a year to actually being competitive).  Great Kids and Great Community over there.  They have done some good things with the facilities from when i coached too.
    • I personally will not mind that one bit.  It seems like a really strange fit to me from the git go.
