7-AAA Post-Season Scenarios

http://www.riverdalewarriors.com/baseball/images/stories/race-at-a-glance.pdf

7AAA Bylaws

Tournament seeding

1. Best district winning %
2. Head to head
3. Record against rest of district highest to lowest seed.
4. Head to Head run differential (between all teams tied)
5. Run differential against rest of the district
6. Coin flip

Scenario #1 - Alphabetical Order - All Sweeps

Blackman sweeps Siegel
Lavergne sweeps Oakland
Smyrna sweeps Stewarts Creek

Final Standings:
Blackman (9-3) & Riverdale (9-3)
Lavergne (7-5) & Siegel (7-5)
Oakland (5-7) & Smyrna (5-7)
Stewarts Creek (0-12)

Break ties from top of standings to the bottom of standings

Break ties - head to head

Blackman and Riverdale - split
Lavergne and Siegel - split
Smyrna swept Oakland

so we know that

#5 Smyrna
#6 Oakland
#7 Stewarts Creek

Rest of district highest to lowest

Riverdale went 2-0 vs Lavergne and 1-1 vs Siegel so 3-1
Blackman went 1-1 vs Lavergne and 2-0 vs Siegel so 3-1

Riverdale and Blackman swept Smyrna
Riverdale and Blackman split with Oakland
Riverdale and Blackman swept Stewarts Creek

Head to Head run differential - Riverdale won 4-1 and lost 4-5 so 8-6

#1 Riverdale
#2 Blackman

How did Lavergne do against Riverdale? 0-2
How did Siegel do against Riverdale? 1-1

So
#3 Siegel
#4 Lavergne

So scenario #1 ends with

#1 Riverdale - bye
#2 Blackman vs #7 Stewarts Creek
#3 Siegel vs #6 Oakland
#4 Lavergne vs #5 Smyrna

Scenario #2

Siegel sweeps Blackman
Lavergne sweeps Oakland
Smyrna sweeps Stewarts Creek

Final Standings:
Siegel (9-3) & Riverdale (9-3)
Blackman (7-5) & Lavergne (7-5)
Oakland (5-7) & Smyrna (5-7)
Stewarts Creek (0-12)

Break ties from top of standings to the bottom of standings

Break ties - head to head

Riverdale and Siegel - split
Blackman and Lavergne  - split
Smyrna swept Oakland

so we know that

#5 Smyrna
#6 Oakland
#7 Stewarts Creek

Rest of district highest to lowest

Riverdale went 2-0 vs Lavergne and 1-1 vs Blackman so 3-1
Siegel went 1-1 vs Lavergne and 2-0 vs Blackman so 3-1

Riverdale and Siegel swept Smyrna
Riverdale and Siegel split with Oakland
Riverdale and Siegel swept Stewarts Creek

Head to Head run differential - Riverdale won 3-2 and lost 3-2 so 5-5 - still tied

Run differential against rest of the district - Riverdale finished with 66-26 for plus 40, Siegel is 40-15 (+25) going into Blackman series.

IF Riverdale finishes #1 and Siegel finishes #2

Blackman went 1-1 vs Riverdale, Lavergne went 0-2 vs Riverdale so

#1 Riverdale

#2 Siegel

#3 Blackman

#4 Lavergne

IF Siegel has higher differential than Riverdale then

#1 Siegel

#2 Riverdale

Blackman went 0-2 vs Siegel, Lavergne went 1-1 vs Siegel so

#3 Lavergne

#4 Blackman

#5 Smyrna
#6 Oakland
#7 Stewarts Creek

Oakland split
Smryna sweep
Siegel blackman split

So...

Riverdale 9-3

Blackman 8-4 & Siegel 8-4

Lavergne 6-6 & Oakland 6-6

Smyrna 5-7

Stewarts Creek 0-12

#1 Riverdale

Blackman and Siegel split and both split with Riverdale

Blackman went 2-2 vs Lavergne and Oakland

Siegel went 2-2 vs Lavergne and Oakland

Blackman and Siegel swept Smyrna and Stewarts Creek

So Run Differential in their Series will decide second and third unless that ties. If that ties Blackman is

plus six (33-27) and Siegel is plus 25 (40-15) headed into the series.

Lavergne was swept by Riverdale and Oakland split with Riverdale so

#4 Oakland

#5 Lavergne

So, if Blackman and Siegel splits and IF wins by the same amount:

#1 Riverdale

#2 Siegel

#3 Blackman

#4 Oakland

#5 Lavergne

#6 Smyrna

#7 Stewarts Creek

Oakland sweep
Smyrna sweep
Siegel blackman split

So

Riverdale 9-3

Blackman 8-4

Siegel 8-4

Oakland 7-5

Lavergne 5-7

Smyrna 5-7

Stewarts Creek 0-12

#1 Riverdale

Blackman and Siegel split and both split with Riverdale

Both split with Oakland

Blackman went 3-1 vs Lavergne and Smyrna

Siegel went 3-1 vs Lavergne and Smyrna

Both swept Stewarts Creek

So run differential will decide unless that is the same then overall district run differential decides and

Siegel leads that +25 to +6

#4 Oakland

Lavergne and Smyrna split.  Both were swept by Riverdale

If Siegel is #2, Lavergne split with Siegel, Smyrna was swept by Siegel  so

#5 Lavergne

#6 Smyrna

If Blackman is #2, Lavergne split with Blackman, Smyrna was swept by Blackman so

#5 Lavergne

#6 Smyrna

so

#1 Riverdale

#2 Blackman or Siegel depending on runs scored in series

#3 Blackman or Siegel depending on runs scores in series

#4 Oakland

#5 Lavergne

#6 Smyrna

#7 Stewarts Creek
