Nashville Cruisers 03 Tryout Change

Recommended Posts

Due to weather uncertainty for tomorrow, I am moving the tryout to Thursday, July 24th, 6:30 on Field 1 at Crockett Park in Brentwood.

The Nashville Cruisers are one of the oldest and most successful softball organizations in Tennessee.  I am starting a new 12U team this fall.  As coach, I commit to provide a positive, organized environment for the girls to improve softball skills, learn teamwork, build self confidence and learn to overcome adversity.  I have coached highly successful teams from 8 through 19.  I have ASA gold national coaching experience.  My daughter now pitches in college.  I will not have a daughter or family member on the team.  I am looking for girls to join the team who have a:

  • Goal of softball excellence, playing at the highest level, and want to play in college
  • Strong work ethic and motivation.
  • Born during 2003 or earlier to play as first year 12U
  • Highly committed to attend practices and tournaments
  • Family that shares and supports commitment
  • Dedicated student.
  • High standard of conduct on and off field
  • Positive attitude and will be a supportive teammate.

I will be having tryouts on July 24th, 6:30 PM on field 1 at Crockett Park in Brentwood.  If you would like to participate, please call or text me at (615) 828-0752.  Pitchers should contact me to schedule a separate private evaluation.

    • It’s a small town and they are in the same school system. People talk and can pull up records on their personal devices.
    • Sorry Barn. I wasn’t specific enough. It seems I’m always protecting the principal at 825. My interactions with her have been extremely positive, but very limited. With all the other stories being told, I’m confident there are other sides I am not aware of. Regardless, there are lots of decent people earning good checks up there. Maybe too good, which explains why no one is willing to speak up. My beef is with the poor communication among the athletic programs and with the administration. Seven years ago the poor communication led to my son missing graduation due to a sporting event that was planned months before. I chalked it up to the system being totally shocked that the baseball team made it out of their district, and our then AD was a football coach. Maybe they were surprised and did not plan appropriately. That was more palatable than they just didn’t give a crap. Déjà vu, seven years later, same thing. Different administration, but same result.  Maybe in seven more years, it will actually be “about the kids”. They should do better.
