Looks like BGA is hitting on all cylinders now that a certain player is back. However, Webb will run at their back line and create problems.

USN vs FRA will be a good game. USN has played without their all state forward, and state champion sprinter, so they will have to be very sharp to win. FRA has a possession oriented team with a terrific player to control the middle.

Could posssibly be BGA, Webb,USN then FRA when the smoke clears. While Webb has a solid team the other three have star players that can create something out of nothing to win a game.

IMO the favorite out of this group to win it all is BGA.

Results

1- BGA

2-Webb

3-FRA

4-USN

Look for USN to possibly post an upset in Memphis. They should get back three injured starters for their game Saturday.

BGA is playing good enough to repeat.

Webb appears to keep it close but needs to get over the hump and win against a top team.

FRA is appears to be riding their allstate AM all the way to Murfreesboro.

It is back to an almost all West Tennessee bracket for D II-A.

USJ pulled off an upset on USN.  Another quality match similar to their match up at state tourney last year, except this time the USJ team pulled it out in PK's.  Again they outshot the opposing USN, but again USN played the majority of the team on the defensive end.  USJ deserved the win.

ECS knocked off Knox Webb, and St. George's put away FRA.

These four will battle it out and any team could win.  Finals prediction:

USJ and St. Georges

USN played without 4 starters ( both CMs, F and CB) including their all state forward (shes also a state track champion). Had USN not had these injuries the last few weeks they would have been the favorite to win. Way too much speed for almost every team in Div 1.

BGA has played all year without one of the top players in the South. She started playing in the playoffs. They are a very good team with her now and are going to be tough to beat.

My prediction is BGA for a repeat then a three-peat next year since their talent is made up of juniors.

Unfortunate that USN had players out in the post season.  It definitely affected them, and they are a very good team.  Pretty sure they were back at the sectional game.  Maybe one was still out.  However, the same power forwards were back on the field.  They play a defensive game, and try to get the breakaway shot.  It worked for them last year, but not this year.  It did make it difficult for the USJ team to score in the match, and you hate to see a team eliminated on PK shootout.  The game statistics were similar to their previous meeting.

USJ and USN were matched up in state semi finals last year.  USJ had 10 shots on goal to USN's 1. USJ had 13 corner kicks to USN's 0.  It was a defeat that stung, so this victory was important to them.

No the USN players were not there. They relied on the Rabb sisters getting service from two nonstarters (both mids were out) in the midfield plus they lost the centerback to an ACL injury.

USN does not play a defensive game whatsoever. They had the talent in the midfield to dictate pace and provide excellent service. Look at their wins vs Beech, Ravenwood, etc... They added an excellent freshman midfield (who did not play) and goalie. Losing three of the five best field players is tough to overcome. The fact it was 0-0 during regualtion speaks volumes.

Their senior all state center forward did not play and shes been dominant against good competition all year. Remember shes a state track champion not a soccer fast kid plus shes skilled. Huge loss IMO.

They were the class of Middle/East until injuries got them. With that being said now that BGA is healthy they have a very good chance of a repeat unless you can handle their mids.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
