To whom much is given much is expected, and that is the case for CBHS's guard. Didn't pull in a offer until his junior season and finished it with the same offer (Ole Miss). Played with several AAU clubs over the years, couldnt really find his role in the top programs (Team Penny and Team Thad) due to how unselfish he is, which led him to the underrated M33M program. They didnt quite win as much and he wasnt surrounded with half as much talent, but he blossomed there and absolutely exploded over the past 3 months.

 

The kid was never projected to be one of the best in the city and was un ranked 2 weeks ago. He now has around 20 D1 offers, highest ranked 2017 kid in the city due to Stokes' departure, and worked out in front of 4 coaches this morning (Memphis, Ole Miss, SMU, Michigan; saw it on my facebook feed this morning which lead to me starting this thread).

 

I agree that rankings are politics and you have to be in the right place at the right time but sometimes hard work will propel you into the spotlight no matter where you are. I've been following TNs basketball tough for over 7 years now and have seen some special guys but i dont recall seeing a guy explode overnight like this. If i were a coach this would be my staple example of hard work paying off, from being overlooked to the #2 kid in the state. Goodluck to him, i plan on watching the kid closely in the future and attending as many of his games as I can this year.

      So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?

      Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.

      Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
