4A Region 2 Playoff Spots

Any thoughts on who gets in and who gets left out? Pretty murky between East Ridge, East Hamilton, Sequoyah.

Sequoyah: Lost to East Hamilton, beat East Ridge

East Hamilton: Lost to East Ridge, Beat Sequoyah

East Ridge: Beat East Hamilton, Lost to Seqouyah 

 

Sequoyah plays Anderson County.

East Hamilton plays Howard

East Ridge play Hixson

Yes I think you're right about them all finishing 3-3 in the district.

• E.R. beat E.H but lost to Sequoyah
• E.H. beat Sequoyah but lost to E.R.
• Sequoyah beat E.R. but lost to E.H.

My head hurts trying to figure that out

I'm assuming with a  3 way tie, that the coaches must have put some tie breaker rules into place before the season.

III. GENERAL REGULATIONS (Division I: Class 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A)

A. In Class 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A and 6A, all teams are required to play all other teams within their region. The teams with the best region records shall be declared the region winner, runner-up, third and fourth place and shall advance to the first round of the football play-off series.

B. If at any point when the following tie-breaking procedures are applied, one team has beaten all the other teams that are tied for a play-off position, that team shall be rated above the others.

C. In the event of a tie for the region winner, runner-up, third-place, or fourth-place team, if either team(s) has defeated the other(s) in regular-season play, the team(s) shall be rated above the other(s) in the standings. (After the region winner has been determined, the tie-breaker procedure shall begin all over again starting at the top to work out the runner-up position. The procedure shall be repeated to determine the third- and fourth-place teams.)

D. The following tie-breaking procedures shall be applied and all regular-season games, both region and non-region,shall count (After each of the following steps have been applied, item C above shall be applied.):

1. The team with the greatest number of victories.

2. The team who plays the greatest number of teams who win 50 percent or more of their games.

3. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams winning 50 percent or more of their games.

4. The team whose opponents have earned the most victories.

5. The team whose opponents have received fewer defeats.

6. Coin Flip

From the TSSAA website, they list the possible playoff scenarios:

East Hamilton Wins, Hixson Wins, Anderson Wins:
3rd East Hamilton, 4th Sequoyah

East Hamilton Wins, East Ridge Wins, Anderson Co Wins:
3rd East Ridge, 4th East Hamilton.

East Hamilton Wins, Hixson Wins, Sequoyah Wins:
3rd Sequoyah, 4th East Hamilton

All Other Scenarios:
3rd Sequoyah, 4th East Ridge

Wowwwww. I think it's very unlikely that Hixson & Sequoyah win this week. Therefor, East Ridge & East Hamilton.  Hard to believe East Hamilton can squeeze into the playoffs after the up and down year they have had.     Any idea who the #3 & #4 would play in the first round? Or am I just being greedy now

#4 seed will be at Greeneville and the #3 seed will be at Elizabethton

#4 plays #1 of Region 1: So, East Hamilton vs Greeneville
#3 plays #2 of Region 1: So, East Ridge vs Elizabethton

No, problem also

#2 plays #3 of Region 1: Chatt Central vs Sullivan South
#1 plays #4 of Region 1: AC vs Grainger

 

Central would be at home so that should be a good game.
