Oh you Braves.... you

Recommended Posts

From the Associated Press:

"The Atlanta Braves re-signed catcher Henry Blanco to a $1.3 million, one-year contract Friday, avoiding salary arbitration. Blanco hit .204 with six home runs and 22 RBIs in 81 games last season. He threw out 35 percent of runners attempting to steal (18 of 52). Blanco can make an additional $450,000 in performance bonuses."

One Million Dollars Plus on Blanco? This sure shoots my contention that Johnny Estrada would be the backup catcher meaningless! Has John Schuerholtz gone totally mad? I understand cost cutting measures, and have even tried to defend the Millwood fiasco but wouldn't that 1.3million have been better spent on boosting the offer to Glavine, Remlinger, or Hammond? I am beginning to lose hope here... Is it not enough that they decided to waste another year on Vinny Castilla and keep a 46 year old Julio Franco.

I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and it looks like it is beginning to flicker badly!

Millwood is getting just under $10 million. And he's going to be good for them.

Blanco is a truly awful catcher by MLB standards. I wouldn't sign him for the league minimum.

Don, it's moves like this that have me saying the Braves are on the way to the golf courses early this season. They've had just enough and been in a poor division the last several years, and it's disguised Schuerholz's stupidity in some decisions. It *WILL* catch up to them.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
