kangaroo
Here are my picks going into the season. I admittedly know more about the East and Middle regions than I do the West. East 1. Baylor - Strong last year - good pitching 2. Webb - Many returning starters 3. McCallie - Is Ryan Moore enough to carry the team? Middle 1. Father Ryan - Defending champs until dethroned. 2. MBA - Final four last year. Good returning talent. 3. Brentwood Academy - Maybe one of their better teams 4. BGA - Will be improved over last year West 1. Christian Bros. - Always tough. Probably the favorite for State Champs. 2. ECS - Traditionally strong. 3. Briarcrest - ? 4. MUS - ? It is going to be a very competitive year in DII baseball. Post your ideas on an order of finish with brief comments.
Guest play
Ryan will have a cake walk in the Middle. I've never seen a more talented group of high school players on the same team in D2, plus they have the coach of the year showing them the way. MBA/BA/BGA better watch out for MTC and Sewanee. No pressure Irish, you're definitely there again. It's spring time fellas! Play ball!
kangaroo
Play, Ryan has a good team, but so do the others in the Middle region. I look for it to be a dogfight that may go down to the wire. How about some of you East and West region guys. What do you think the outlook is in your area? BigRed3
play, Ryan by no means had a cakewalk last year in the middle region, and they had a much more dominate team last year than this. If i remember correctly, they were a game back of mba last year heading into the last three game series with the big red, and they were fortunate enough to come back in the seventh inning in each of those three game to take first place. Granted they did have a very good team last year, and will have another good one this year. But they are not as complete now as they were then with a hampered rotation without noodle, although myer, vinnett, ad wilgenbush (spelling?) are all good pitchers. They will be in the tops again, but just as last year, this region has no clear pre-season champ, and anyone any day up and down could come out with this thing. BriC
there will be 3 teams competing for the east region. The traditional two Baylor and McCallie and Knox Webb will all be fighting it out to win the region. Of course the edge has to be given to Baylor since they have many starters returning to their team this year. If Baylor doesn't win this region than its probably because Knox Webb beat them. Webb has 7 returning starters and everyone who is going to start for them this year saw a good amount of playing time on varsity last year. They will also have a strong pitching staff led by junior Nate Hall. I don't think that Ryan Moore will be enough for McCallie to win the region this year. Guest cbhsbaseball
father ryan swept last years state, and mba beat cbhs in finals...this year will be tough in d2, and there is a new format this year. in the west: cbhs- returning all except 2...should be contender...all juniors and 2 seniors briarcrest- will be average..good ss harding- will definately be tough in west ecs- will be battling for top spot in west as well
