REGION 8 INDIVIDUALS PREDICTIONS

1) Leavy Davis did not participate. He was injured at the Best of the West and will not risk his football scholarship to wrestle again. The coaches voted him regional "Wrestler of the Year" for the regular season, though.

 

2) Nick Brugal is a different story. He does not have medical clearance to wrestle, pending an ultrasound on his spleen due to a case of mono. This was not revealed, though, until after the semis on Saturday. He forfeited the finals to Trundel. What happens now is anyone's guess.

Man, that is a shame about Davis. He was a joy to watch wrestle. Where is he going to play football? What is the nature of him injury?

 

Brugal will be an interesting case. If he didn't have clearance to wrestle, do his matches count? How about the guys he beat in regions? Do only three go to state, or how do you determine the fourth? Or does he go if he gets clearance? Strange.

Davis was wrestling Fairview 189 at Bolton when his knee popped. He could barely stand, but continued to wrestle and gain an escape before he physically couldn't go on. I believe it wasn't as severe as an ACL tear but maybe a bruise. He was literally carried off the mat.

Davis - His injury seems to be a mild MCL tear. He will play football for one of the Mississippi junior colleges, then hopes to transfer to Mississippi State.

 

Brugal - He had a doctor's note stating non-contagious status, much like the required note for skin lesions. That's all that was required for participation, so he won't forfeit any matches. I think the decision not to wrestle the finals was between him and his coaches. If he doesn't get the ultrasound before Wednesday, they (the coaches) probably won't allow him to wrestle at the state tournament.

Jug, why would I be skeered?...I wouldn't ask for the results if I wrestle these people in state b/c I would have been there to see the results. Think b/f you speak or shrink the head so thoughts can pass through the head.

I am confused. I think that the 103 placing is wrong. I got second in region 5 and i have the guy from bolton first round. So that means he would have to be third.
