  6. Collierville defeats Germantown (44-19) and White Station (78-6) to win the District 20 dual meet season title. Region X Duals will be at Arlington High on Saturday. Great job, Dragons!
  7. Collierville has 8 qualifiers, not 7 -- 112, 119, 125, 140, 145, 189, 215, 275. Congratulations to the coaching duo of Tony Bradley and Jonathan Simpson at Germantown for a job well done. Also, thanks to Coach Jason Thiry and his staff at Cordova for a well-run tournament
  8. Tournament director Jason Thiry notified the coaches around 5:00 pm that the tournament would be postponed until Monday. He did not feel it was fair to the wrestlers involved to wait until tomorrow morning for a decision. So, there will be no wrestling on Saturday.

  12. I witnessed a confrontation in the consolation semis between referee David Marking and MBA coach Frank Simpson that resulted in the threatened loss of one team point. I don't know if it was actually deducted, but if so it cost MBA the tournament title. Usfjim, can you or Coach Delgado confirm the deduction?
  13. Will you please list those teams? Thanks.
  14. No. Johnson/Britcliffe final was actually at 119.
  15. The tournament was originally scheduled as a 3-day event with weigh-ins on Thursday as follows: Novice and Middle School, 3:00-4:30 / Advanced, 5:00-6:00. After Germantown reached Friday night's football playoffs, the tournament was changed to a 2-day event. The middle school weigh-ins were eliminated and the novice/advanced weigh-ins were combined with the time changed to 3:00-4:30. The changes were sent to schools by fax. The Collierville coaches never received the fax with the updated times, so only their 9 novice guys (plus Tisdale, Rehder, and Britcliffe) showed up before the 4:30 deadline. Only 5 Dragon wrestlers were affected, as several returners were either sick or out of town this weekend.
  16. From the TSSAA website: 2005-06 TENNESSEE WRESTLING MINIMUM WEIGHT PROGRAM "Any wrestler may request a complete retest within 14 days of measurement and the retest must also occur with 14 days of the first measurement." I don't know how much clearer it can be. "Any wrestler" means any wrestler. There is nothing preventing the 104 pounder from filing an appeal, paying the $25.00 fee, and being completely retested within fourteen days.
  17. My understanding is that TSSAA will grant everyone one automatic appeal, provided that the request is made in writing and the 2nd test occurs within 14 days of the 1st one. This was presented at the coaches' rules meeting.
  18. Last year (10/25/04), Collierville beat Brentwood in first round pool play at the state tournament 14-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-20. Brentwood went on to win the rematch two days later in the championship finals.
  19. From the Commercial Appeal: Collierville 214 Ridgeway 165 Cordova 157.5 Houston 146 Germantown 139.5
  20. Medal Count: 12 - Collierville 9 - Germantown 7 - Cordova 7 - Houston 7 - Ridgeway 5 - Bartlett 4 - Bolton 2 - Brighton 2 - Kingsbury 1 - Millington 0 - Arlington 0 - Munford 0 - White Station
  21. I believe someone in the stands calculated Collierville with 70.5 points and a comfortable (though not insurmountable) lead over 2nd place Cordova. This morning's semifinal performances will make all the difference.
  22. 13 of 14 Dragons are in the semifinals. Kropp barely missed the cut at 171, losing 12-9. If seeding holds true, Collierville should have 7 finalists (103, 112, 119, 125, 135, 152, 215). By reaching the semis, Packer (130), Rehder (145), and Poteet (160) have already exceeded expectations. They still have to win one more match in either bracket to qualify, but Collierville is looking at 13 potential qualifiers. (Kropp will have to win two straight--a tall order-- to make it a full slate.)
