The staffs at Oneida High and Oneida Middle Schools will be holding a team camp for middle school girls teams the week of June 9-13. Each team entered in the camp will play four of the five days of the camp and receive eight games. Games will begin at 2:00 PM each day and the last game wil begin at 9:00 PM. The rules for the camp will follow TSSAA guidelines with the games consisting of four, eight minute quarters. The clock will run except for the last minute of each quarter and any time-outs. Each team will get three, one-minute time-outs per game. In order to conserve clock time, each free throw shooting situation will be only one shot with the shot being worth either 1, 2, or 3 points depending on the situation. There will be a concession stand provided with water and sports drinks. The Oneida coaching staff will make every effort to secure quality officials to referee the games.

The cost of the camp is $150. We will be accepting the first nine teams that apply. If interested call Derek Jeffers at (423)569-4853 or e-mail to cdj2@highland.net, or call Marv West at (423)663-8250 or e-mail to coachwest@nxs.net.

I will try to answer any questions posted to this thread, as well.

Just wondering if a lot of the teams in that area are planning on playing at that camp. This would certainly be a good fit for a lot of teams travel-wise. (Sunbright, Wartburg, Huntsville, Allardt, etc.) Since the great majority of the teams in the area are small it would be a surprise if this team camp doesn't fill up quickly.

:):):):):D:)

    • I have no affiliation with Maryville anymore outside of being a 2nd generation graduate from a large family of Rebel alumni. That relationship ended courtesy of the lame duck AD (a Bearden grad I might add) and the HBIC. That said, I could care less if a private school comes through and offers every promising athlete out of that school or any other school better opportunities.
    • A perfect example is for athletes at Clinton High School. I will completely understand, and hopefully everyone should understand why they want to, and as of right now, it looks like that’s going to happen in numbers over the summer.
    • I mean, that’s easy to say when it hasn’t happened to your school that often, if at all, but yeah, I think everybody should be for the student athlete or player. Whatever they think will help them or their athletic career, I feel like they should be able to do that, even if that means transferring schools. Now I don’t really get that when you have almost every offer you could want and then jump ship, but what can I say? I guess money talks.
    • I for one am all for it.
    • Covid killed the city because they chose not to play football in the 2020 season. Therefore, kids weren't able to practice and develop, and continuing to lift weights. Memphis basically had 7/8 graders, skipping a year, then playing 9/10 high school football. Now, there's only one team that has made a "dent" which will be Southwind (made it to the 5A semifinals last year).  If you want to go more suburbs, then it'll be Houston, which won the 6A state title, defeating Oakland Other than that, I agree.
