BGA @ FRHS

Not to make excuses for BGA, but what happened in the

4th inning and beyond is inexcusable, one could say it may

have cost them the game. All of this aside Vinnet is a fine young pitcher with a bright future.

Here's the context:

BGA is trailing FRHS 5 to 2. Bases are loaded. Harlin

hits a "shot" down the left field line, it's hooking, and

ends up hooking behind the foul pole....fair ball, home run.........grand slam home run.....FRHS players drop their

heads, the entire BGA bench (on the 3rd base line) are

ecstatic, FRHS fans see it.........and the home plate

umpire, Mr. Pogue, calls "foul ball". Arguments ensued

on the field, the field ump saw it from a better angle, but

chose not make the right call.

BGA had opportunities in the latter innings, however two

double plays with the out at first being at least a tie

once and clearly a pulled foot by the first basemen...ending

any chances.

Father Ryan added another 2 runs for a final of 7-2.

After the "blown call"....the strike zone seemed to change.

Hey, I know a team has to be able to play through this sort

of thing.....but come on.

Maybe FRHS can paint their poles something other than white

or perhaps add screening to the poles.....although who knows, they may like it the way it is.

No blame given....."it may have cost them the game"

Hey, the players make mistakes too. Unfortunately the players and teams are sometimes at the umpire's mercy....

they are there to make the rules are followed and that

competition is fair for both teams.

He blew it regardless of the final score.
