coachrochelle
So not much talk has been said about the upcoming 17s tourney... Who all has automatic bids? Supposedly the Yellowjackets do, but who else does? Im going to pick the YOMCA Blue (17s) and the Memphis Bulldogs to get out of Pool B and YOMCA white (15s) and the TN Thunder out of Pool A. The winner I would have to guess the Y 17s, but it could be anyone of the four's weekend.
sportsfan101
Is that the Thunder Select 16's playing in the 17's? I thought that the Thunder only had one 17 team, and three of them played on the Thunder 16 year old "B" team at DCA this weekend. coachrochelle
Yes it is the Thunder 16s. We qualified in the East substate along with the Breakers. Looking forward to doing a bit better in the 16s tourney than we did in this one. The Breakers beat us for the last qualifying spot to finish 5th. I had to leave before the finals, but the YOMCA 17s and the Midstate Ballerz 17s were in the championship. The Y 15s were playing the Memphis Bulldogs 17s for 3rd and 4th. I was very impressed with the Ballerz this weekend. Their guards and power forwards are very impressive. The Y 17s showed why they are so highly ranked. I dont know who won this, but surely the Y did. This would be their first test of the tourney though.
gomab2
The Championship game was a classic... Memphis YOMCA overcame a 12-point defecit in the second half to beat the Ballerz Elite 80-77 when Ballerz PG Reiley Ervin's last second 3 point attempt rimmed in and out at the buzzer!!! This was a fierce, intense championship game that lived up to all of the hype. YOMCA F Frank Holmes was unstoppable througout and 6'5 G David Jackson made a name for himself as an elite prospect in the State. 6'9 G Shawne Williams ran PG for most of the second half after Andre Allen was primarily ineffective, showing again why the 6'9 Jr is the Top Prospect in the State... The Ballerz again had a variety of players step up, as they had througout the weekend. G Courtney Pigram continued his outstanding play, leading the way with 17 points. PG Reiley Ervin had 13 points and 5 assists, while F Antwon Harris and G Brent McPherson each had 11... The Memphis Bulldogs defeated the YOMCA 15's for 3rd place behind Brian Lake, Michael Davis, and surprising PG Chris Holley... __________________________________________________________ Teams going to 17:u Nationals: 1) YOMCA 2) Midstate Ballerz Elite 3) Memphis Bulldogs 4) YOMCA White (15's) 5) Tn Breakers
