COMMENTS

-Congrats to Cody and Ryan.

-Where is Justin Blair and Andrew Smith?

-Has the upswing of Baylor wrestling hurt the McCallie program so bad that they cannot field a full team even if there are sick or injured wrestlers? I am positive Coach Morgan would have loaned Coach Connell a few wrestlers.

-Whatever happened to Madison Roberts?

-I'll bet Connell's JV parents are happy with him.

-I wonder if the Blue Tornado will be welcomed back next year. Five 'no entries' at a major out-of-town tournament.....questionable.

-Is the entire team trying to get to 135? Didn't Scott and Manley begin the season at 160 and 152? Can you say "Ethiopian Weight Control" program?

You folks can argue the pros and cons of wrestling younger kids in local tournaments and dual meets 'til you are blue in the face; I think both sides have legit arguments.

However, taking young inexperienced kids to a national tournament like The Beth over the holidays would be a huge mistake. There is no rational reason for doing so. Can we agree on that?

Don't you do that during the summer at the National tournaments? During the high school wrestling season the emphasis should be on the team. If their stars are going to only get better wrestling in LV wouldn't the other team members do the same and prepare the team for the state championships? Not trying to be difficult but just asking the questions to see if going to out of state tournaments in a team sport should be based on improving only the top wrestlers or would they be better served staying closer to home and improving the entire program?

Not up to speed on the quality of talent at McCallie once you get past their big guns Manley,Blair, and Scott but the coach must feel like the JV wrestlers can't compete at that level or he wouldn't have 5 no entries. There's not a lot to gain by getting a minute or so mat time, especially 500 miles away against PA competition
