YORK & DAVENPORT JERSEYS RETIRED

Two of Wayne County's former players had their jerseys retired last night at ceremonies between the girls' and boys' games vs. Collinwood. Both players had exceptional high school careers and led their team to the 2001 State Championship. They were both on hand last night for this special ceremony.

 

Molly York's #43 was retired (TN Tech/Union) and Erica Davenport's #5 was retired (Belmont). There is no doubt that both of these ladies were very deserving of this honor. Congrats girls!

How is Ms. Davenport doing now? I haven't heard anything about her in a few years. I remember when she was a freshman at Belmont she was like their leading scorer or something. :justwrestle:

I saw them play in the state tournament their senior year. I was very impressed with Davenport. Based on the way they played the day they beat Bradford in the state tourney, I thought Davenport was more versatile than the girl from Bradford who got Miss Basketball.

I'm not sure about York, but i know Davenport is doing extremely well at belmont. She is very versatile. She has been leading belmont since her freshman year. Its a privelage to know her! Congrats girls!
