411 Big Enuff!!!!

Looks like the weekly Carter county top five will have Unaka and Elizabethton as co-number ones, as champs of their respective districts!!! Four of the five Carter County schools have both their girls and boys teams in the regionals. Thats quite an accomplishment. Hampton, which probably has a more storied basketball history than any other team in the area, is the lone outcast. That has to be a bone in the dogs throat........

Not CROWING at all here, but:

All of you have received so much unjust criticism from so many. But after watching you go toe-to-toe with that great team of Blue Devils from Unicoi (though you lost both times) many of us could see that you gals were capable of playing against the best.

Julie, you get whistled for some of the softest fouls I've ever seen, but you never complain. That's commendable. Renee, you're simply great. Lacy, couldn't do it without you. Coty, I still think you're one of the greatest talents in the region; keep working. And to all the role players, Tiffany, Megan, Kelly, we really do notice and appreciate your vast and unselfish contributions to the team.

Danielle, You've come back from being almost awful after last year's terrible injury. You've been overlooked by so many of us and so often while you've battled to get back into playing shape. I've seen you in class, and acknowledge you to be one of the sweetest and best-behaved students at UHS. But more importantly, I've known your wonderful grandmother, Betty, since I was a toddler; and trust me, that was a long, long time ago. Neither she or I can begin to put into words how proud and happy we are for Mike and Kim's little girl.

Jessica,

Someone told me that you've never won a significant award. Well this season you've won a great award and you've stolen our hearts as well. And though I'm certain you'd be the first to give Renee, Julie and the others so much of the credit for your award it's great to see you finally have your moment in the sun. I also know a very proud grandpa who lives here in Bulldog Hollow. He'll never admit he had to wipe his eyes when you were announced the winner, now would he?

I didn't think the obvious should be overstated. I picked them from the beginning and I pick them to host the Sub-State.

However, it's up to the girls. They have to play to the hype. From now on they must prove themselves worthy of all of the honors they have won. Danielle must continue playing as a MVP as does Jessi. Julie, Renee & Coty must play like the All-Conference and All-District players they are! Teams will not lay down for you!

Good Luck!

    • It's time to play everybody's favorite game of how is this season going to go. I'll undertake the fool's errand of a prediction. Encourage the region 2 fans to do the same. Cloudland: Top until they get beat always seem to perform year in year out with a small changing roster. Cosby, North Greene: These two could finish in either order they didn't have big senior classes. Lots of young guys got experience last season and most of their best athletes are upperclassmen it'll depend on coaching and if the kids can put it all together.  Jellico, Unaka: Like the two above could finish in either spot both of them lost key pieces to graduation. It'll depend on how returners play and if young guys can fill shoes.  Hancock: Small roster size devastated by a big senior class that took a lot of the experience and athleticism with them.
    • Confident that Marion, Moore, and Gordonsville are losses.  7-3 would be a nice turnaround.  5-5, 4-6, 3-7, etc. and it's a disappointment
    • Win the Watertown game, you can start 4-0. Lose it and you might be anywhere from 0-4 to 3-1.
