On thursday nite 2 of the finest teams in East Tennesee competed in the sectionals and not a single tv camera was there. Not even to see Miss Basketball nominee Cait McMahan burn Greeneville for 40 points. Now those of us in Greeneville are pretty much used to getting snubbed by the Tri-Cities stations but I thought for sure someone from Knoxville would cover their regional representative. Of course if this were a football game or even a boys basketball game it might be a different story. Maybe someday the network affiliates in Knoxville and Tri-Cities will realize that Maryville and Greeneville make up a large part of their demographics and therefore generate revenue for their puny little stations. Well at least in Greeneville we have the alternative of watching news from North Carolina. Maybe we can pay them back with a Greeneville/Powell final.

I agree barb, actually on Thursday for the Girls Regional final, there were no television cameras, however they were there for the first two Boys semi-final games, but left once the Girls started. Then on Saturday, NO ONE. What a shame, 1st Greeneville Sectional victory, Miss Basketball Finalist who scored 40 points, close game much of the night, etc. I think our local businesses should remember this when their sales groups come around wanting to sell advertising. I was impressed with the Sun's coverage. Usually Greeneville gets second billing to the county even if they don't win, but not this time and three pictures! Now if we can just get the stats right.
