Iv read all the talk about coach jones over the past month and heard people talking on the street and from what i can telland from what i know, coach jones should still be at central. heres the thing, for all you know the president of the QB club could have agreed on the distrebution of funds and then when the funds were gone he took advantage of a great man and turned on him right when he knew that he could make him look bad. knowing all along that the president himself agreed on what was happening. I went to central all four years and i now go to UTC. Coach Jones had a way about him that made guys want to work hard and want to do good in class and want to play hard not just for him but for themselves. he tough integrity, high standerd of morals, respect for others and respect for yourself, even to the kids that he didnt coach on the field. Jones was the best thing that happened to central in 20 years and some how we find a way to do away with him. i think that president of the QB club should have either swallowed his pride and cept his mouth shut or he should now step up and try to fill jones' shoes. Central wont find another coach like that in a long long long time. I feel real sorry for the kids that play now and even more sorry for the ones that are still in middle school cause they wont even know the story. It just a shame. And i think everyone from our school knows who i am and knows that i truly feel this way about jones. he could have made something even more special at central. Good luck wereever you go coach. JT

Curt will be fine, I hear his name mentioned all the time for potential jobs. He will just have to learn from this job and move on, and he will.

I want to be careful in what I say about this because I don't want to add fuel to the fire but some of what you've said is correct and some isn't.

 

Did Coach Jones make a mistake? YES! He did not break any laws from what I understand, but may have violated school board policy (notice I said, "MAY HAVE"). He is a WONDERFUL COACH and I know his players love him.

 

He will bounce back soon! Men like Curt always find a way to make a come back!

 

Don't write off the Purple Pounders! That team is loaded with talent and there are some great coaches looking for a position! Maybe Mac MacCurry will go and coach the Pounders?

Knew Coach Jones from his time at Macon Co. and Springfield. We (Lebanon)even scrimmaged them 2 years ago. Very good coach and a heck of a motivator. Players loved him at all the schools he has coached. Wish him the best. Don't know what has happen at Chatt. Central, because they were doing very good until this happen. But now it sounds like a discrunted parent has destroyed the TEAM with own ambitions or misfortunes. Again, good luck Coach Jones.

I think we have talked enough about this man and now it's time to let it drop and hope that he bounces back next year somewhere! He's a good coach and I know he will. I also know that he would probably just like for us to stop talking about it and let him move on with his career. I know everyone wants to have their say but Central is searching for a new man and Coach Jones is starting over so let's leave it at that!

 

Curt, I consider you a friend and I wish you well!
