Who will win?

Can the eagles pull off another big upset of Friendship Christian

Said it last time and I'll say it this time, if Van Buren wins it won't be an upset. They will miss having Stewart, but with the way that Baker has been playing lately, they still should win this one at home. The boys are getting closer to being a good basketball team. Just need to protect the ball, play with intensity, and play together. I look for Allen to have a good shooting night, he's due. Against Friendship he will be able to take the ball to the rack. Remember what won it for them at Friendship, great intensity, good D, protect the ball, and don't worry who gets the glory. When you win, everyone gets to celebrate. If they do these things, it would be tough for anyone to beat them. thumb

I want to say that I have been impressed with Hudson's play the last two weeks. He has been the most consitant player on the floor. Always gives great effort, and is really been protecting the ball much better. Great hustle play the other night when he saved the ball from going out of bounds and Rigsby ended up shooting free throws. Also played great D against Westmoreland's top player. Look for more of the same Friday night. thumb

Being consistant. When the Van Buren Eagles conquer this task they can not only play with anybody they can beat anybody they play. The average loss this year has been 5.5 points. In each of these games they had a 2 or 3 minute span where either unforced turnovers, poor shot selection, lack of intensity, or a combination of these three has sealed their fate. If they play smart for 4 quarters they will win 95% of the games. If they play smart and with intensity they are capable of beating anyone. Tonight, the Eagles will bring their A game. Eagles by 7!

The fact that everyone is having to reassure themselves that a Van Buren win will not be an upset makes me think that a Van Buren win will be an upset.

Friendship will rebound from their earlier loss with a win at Van Buren. Coach Matt Bradshaw will have a solid game plan ready for the Eagles and the Commanders will get vengeance tonight.
