It wasn't that big of a gap. Gordonsville didn't show up in that playoff game. That wasn't a good effort in that quarterfinal game.
The peculiarity with Gordonsville is why that they don't have much gas left in the tank once it gets to the postseason. I know that the program works extremely hard. It's why they compete at a high level year in and year out. However, it seems like they regularly don't perform up to capability in the playoffs.
You're not going to be at your absolute best every week. No team will. Conversely, no team will be at its absolute every week either. However, you have to perform at - at the least - a solid level to beat a good football team once you get into the later rounds of the playoffs. Gordonsville has struggled for several years with that now. What's your take Blueprint? Why is that?
I have a lot of respect for the program, and while it's ok for us to disagree, I really don't think there was a huge separation between Gordonsville and Marion County last season, regardless of what the score indicated in that playoff game. If Marion County was that good, they'd have won the state title. Class 2A isn't that great nowadays. There's no Pearl-Cohns or Alcoas or Westviews in the mix, and that's no offense to Milan, Huntingdon, East Nashville, East Robertson, Marion County or anyone else. But there's no big, bad bear in the 2A fold.
