  1. Wallace Barrett has been out since 1st Qtr of Knox catholic game. 2 way starter at RB and S. Gray McCullough a normal starter at CB is out. Hope to get Wallace back by Ensworth game. Credit the athleticism and downfield blocking of PC. Their receivers are athletic and able to make people miss and get YAC. PC is a good team.
  2. Great HS football game between two really good teams that wouldn't quit. It really was like watching two heavyweight fighters go at it and neither could put the other away. Tons of respect for Pearl Cohn. Ferrell is a really good dual threat QB. Vaughn is a tough runner that is hard to take down. Was also impressed with Groves and Parker for PC. If they stay positive they should go far. They've played a really tough schedule so far. Coach Brunetti is not afraid of anybody. Big shout out for CPA. Still playing with out a couple of key players but able hang on and get a win. Zack Weatherly had a huge night at QB and was 18-25 for 348 yards and 2 TDs. Price Pardue had another huge night receiving including a 70 yard TD reception. Some other less heralded guys stepped up with big plays as well. CPA gets a much needed bye week before taking on Ensworth.
  3. Wiseman Giles being wise. So much respect for Giles County and their community. Getting off the bus last two weeks....both teams CPA has played had more talented players than anyone on the CPA roster. Our kids are good athletes but we have no SEC recruits. We have several that will play in college but most of our players are just above average athletes coached to play at their highest level and compete as a part of something bigger than themselves. Peachtree Ridge had 12 kids being recruited by ACC/SEC/Big 10 schools. Knox Catholic had two of the best players in the state committed to SEC and Pac 12 teams and plenty of size and talent at other positions as well. Plenty of respect for a very good Knox Catholic team. CPA has heart, conviction, attitude, work ethic, great coaching and execution. Our opponents have 7 turnovers against us in first two games....CPA has none. Our kids bought into the program when Ingle Martin arrived. Previous two seasons varsity with same caliber athletes went 5-6 and 3-7. Part of buying in is being committed to a strength and conditioning program during the offseason that is rigorous. We're reaping the benefits today of kids that have bought in for what is now their 5th season in the program going back to MS football. It also means buying into a team concept where stars give up stats to be part of a winning program. Starters at CPA have to realize they are not going to get their stats padded to impress college coaches. They are part of something bigger than themselves. Coaches will recognize the talent and we put kids in college programs but we do not run the score up and substitute liberally if we get a lead. The starting QB, both RB's, WRs, TEs, leading tacklers at LB, several OL, etc all started at CPA all started in elementary or middle school BEFORE Ingle Martin was hired as coach. No recruiting, no big impact transfers. Just making the most out of talent that was on the roster. I can't beat the drum loud enough. Just want people to understand what CPA did to build a winner. It's not sexy and won't generate clicks on a website but it's the truth.
  4. There are 26 seniors on CPA's football roster. 15 have been there since Kindergarten / early elementary. Rest came in middle school. Nothing to hide. No recruiting of players. Go up and down the roster. There are no impact transfers that came in high school. Parents decide at different ages when they want to enroll their kids. Some come in 6th,7th, 8th. Some come sooner. We have 1-2 that moved to the area in middle school. Normal stuff. Nothing to hide. This year's senior class has an unusually high number of kids that started in K. Unusual for anyone to attend same school for 13 years much less more than half the seniors. I just made the point so people didn't think CPA is good in football because of "impact" transfers or recruiting. Ingle Martin was still playing HS football at MBA when his "impact players" enrolled at CPA in Kindergarten.
  5. Players coach....last time I checked this is a Football thread. UC Sportsfan. There are 26 seniors on CPA's football roster. 15 have been there since Kindergarten / Rest came in middle school. Nothing to hide. Go up and down the roster. There are no impact transfers. Parents decide at different ages when they want to enroll their kids. Some come in 6th,7th, 8th. Some come sooner. 6. CPA does not have any impact transfers in Football. All the kids who scored their 38 points on Friday night started there in Kindergarten. Not a single player on the team that transferred in from another high school. Misinformed poster who said that and took back handed slap at CPA.
  7. I didn't expect to have a running clock tonight. Knox Catholic has a very good team. Amari Rodgers might be the best player we've played against in 3 seasons. I think he is better than the 4-5 star skill players at Peachtree Ridge we saw last week. Knox Catholic came out like they were Oregon. Their tempo gave CPA fits early. But key mistakes against CPA will get you beat. The 80 yard pick six early turned the game around. CPA is fundamentally sound and does not beat themselves. Also CPA went with a very balanced attack tonight after grind it out wins vs Alcoa and Peachtree Ridge. Weatherly complete yes about 70% of his passes tonight. As soon as CPA started to pass Knox Catholic did not have an answer. They sold out to stop the run and Weatherly beat them through the air and then the passing game set up big plays in the run game as well. Most surprising play of the night was Chip Oner's 2nd long TD run. He out ram Amari Rodgers on an 80 yard TD run. He Had a 79 yard TD run earlier as well. Barrett had 93 yard kick off return last week against all those SEC / ACC commits at Peachtree Ridge. Somebody needs to give those kids offers. They are both great FB players.
  8. Somebody explain to me how people are saying Knoxville Catholic is down? I've seen film on them and on Amari Rodgers. He's electric and one of the best athletes in the state. He has the offers to prove it. No one on CPA's team has his offer sheet. Knox Catholic had 500+ yards of offense last week. They almost beat Alcoa last year. They would've gone much deeper into the 4A playoffs if they didn't keep running into Fulton. To me these teams look equal. I think this game on Friday will be a close 4 qtr game with Knox Catholic having a size and speed advantage based on what I've seen on film. What did Knox Catholic lose from last year that has people saying they are down? No one has answered that. Doesn't make sense to me.
  9. Big win for CPA in Atlanta on Saturday. Players now have the challenge to avoid the big head from reading their press clippings. Knox Catholic is a very good team that almost beat Alcoa last year if I remember correctly. 4 Star Amari Rodgers is more talented than anyone on CPA's roster. Big challenge to contain him this week. Don't believe for a minute they are down. Looking ahead last week possibly but they are not down. Should be a great game.
  10. Just an incredible win for CPA and for the state of Tennessee. I read on here last year where some posters stated that North Atlanta 6A football teams would beat Maryville by 4 TD's. I drank the kool aid and read the hype regarding Peachtree Ridge. They have 8 kids with ACC/SEC offers including many with 4 and 5 star ratings from Rivals and 247. Peachtree is very talented bunch but CPA was in better condition, played with better discipline and was fundamentally sound football especially on defense and tackling. Our OL found a way to create creases for the ball carriers despite giving up nearly 30 lbs per man. Finally, someone needs to offer Wallace Barrett. Kid had a 93 yard kickoff return and was a workhorse at RB churning our 71 yards against a tough Peachtree Defense with literally dozens of SEC offers. Barrett was the star of the game and was going both ways while all that 4 - 5 star talent from Peachtree Ridge was on the sidelines with leg cramps.
  11. This was a 4 point game at half. Closer than score indicated until 4 th qtr when Brainerd started shooting 3's and missing trying to come back and the game got away from them. Brainerd has a very good team capable of scoring in spurts. I'm not advocating trying to embarrass an opponent. I was there and just saying game was still in question til 4th qtr. Original poster made it sound differently.
  12. One tech was for touching the ball after it went through the net.
  13. Who are the teams in the middle Tennessee area in 3A by district?
  14. Ensworth, Pearl Cohn, Knoc Catholic and CPA opens the season in The North Atlanta area at Georgia 6A powerhouse Peachtree Ridge. Non Conf Schedule is brutal.
