4. http://oshs.com/?go=story&doc=223 The Lady Cats (28-2) overcame a late eight-point deficit to down the Anderson County Lady Mavericks (20-10) in Friday's District 4-AA championship game, 44-43. Oliver Springs' fourth-straight district tournament championship gives the team the top seed entering next week's Region 2-AA Tournament at Carter. Oliver Springs faces Fulton Monday at 6pm in the quarterfinal round of the region tournament at Carter High School. Audio Archive:

Semifinal: Lady Cats vs. Loudon
Championship: Lady Cats vs. Anderson County The game-winning score for Oliver Springs came after a backcourt steal by sophomore Andrea Parton, who fed District Tournament MVP Katie Davis inside the paint for the go-ahead layup. Davis scored eight points in the last 63 seconds, finishing with a team-leading 13 points on three 3-pointers. Senior Jessie Hackworth added 12 points before fouling out midway through the fourth quarter. Sophomore Jennifer Smith also scored in double figures with 11. Every Lady Maverick scored in the contest, with regular-season MVP Tiffany Rodd leading her team with 6-of-12 shooting and 17 points. Oliver Springs' last two district championships came on the opponents' home floor, in 2004 against Kingston (65-26) and this season against Anderson County. The 2003 tournament was won at Oliver Springs over Kingston (64-46). The Lady Cats began their tournament streak in 2002 with championship win (63-51) over Loudon at Scott High. Friday's events also mark the fourth consecutive time a Lady Cat has been named tournament MVP. This year's tournament MVP Katie Davis has signed a letter of intent to play next fall at Mars Hill College in North Carolina. Girls All-Tournament Team Rachel Sitzlar (Kingston) Brooke Gentry (Kingston) Lacey Orr (Loudon) Brittany Everett (Loudon) Tiffany Rodd (AC) Ashley Worthington (AC) Alyssa Bryant (AC) Casee Wampler (OS) Jennifer Smith (OS) Jessie Hackworth (OS) Katie Davis (Most Valuable Player, OS)

10. Because no one is forced to count Hall of Fame games in their win/loss record. The loss was to Peabody before the season started.
11. In all the years we've been holding the contest, the weekend games have always been closed early in the afternoon. Why? To keep you from cheating and picking the correct winner of a 2pm Saturday game. Noon central time is the cutoff on the weekends.
12. 8+2+0+0+0+0+3+0+0+0 ... 13/10 = 1.3 ... also, if a zero is not entered in a column it is assumed that the player didn't play in that particular game. Jill has scoring for 10 games, Megan has scoring for 9 games. Currently, and for at least the next few days, only Plus members are able to add statistics. The plan is for everyone to be able to contribute, but several more things must be done behind the scenes before we can manage a larger collection of stats. As an aside, I don't think it's very fruitful to compare players of different positions on the same team. It can only lead to unecessary strife. If you insist however, please start a new topic. This is a discussion on the process of adding/viewing the stats.
13. You may now view season averages and totals for all entered stats. Just click "Stats" on the team's Inside page.
14. Ah, finally!! You can now view the stats that have been added on the team schedules. Oliver Springs Statistics My next addition will be a shooting totals/statistics table below the first table you see. I will also be putting together a menu to view statewide leaders in the major categories... as soon as I decide exactly where it should go. The link to each teams' stats page can be found through the Inside section of the website. Just click "Stats" near the top, right next to "Roster."
15. The Lady Cats defeated Ponce de Leon today, 57-48. Oliver Springs led 28-25 at the half. Katie Davis led the Cats with 14 points, Jessie Hackworth had 11, and Kara Monk also scored in double figures with 10. Oliver Springs advances to the championship Thursday against the 4-6 Lady Cougars of Franklin's Centennial High School. Gametime is 6pm central.
16. Calm down and read over the rules by clicking the "Board Rules" link at the top of the page. No one is stopping you from continuing the conversation in a new topic. You could've done that instead of starting this mess.
17. Ponce de Leon at 1pm central, Freeport High School. The Lady Cats defeated Ponce de Leon last season in this same tournament, 64-48. Coach Wright will publish a recap of today's game on OSHS.com immediately following the game. Click on the Audio Updates link to listen.
18. Oliver Springs defeated Maclay, FL this evening, 72-27. The Lady Cats led 22-4 after one quarter and 40-13 at the half. Katie Davis scored 16 points, Kara Monk had 11, and freshman Brooke Barger added nine.
19. The SOS and Strength+Success rankings are NOT polls. They are rankings based on game results. The capsules are based on the Strength+Success ranking.

21. Polk County's opponents have won 44% of their games, Walker Valley's opponents have won 39% of their games. Both have roughly the same record so far this season. That's why Polk Co. is higher than Walker Valley. Just win and everything will take care of itself.
22. The folks that watched the great games yesterday didn't complain. Many people right-click and blow it up full screen to sit back and watch it like TV.
23. Championship highlight montage (300K stream) Murphy and the soldiers' wives (300K stream) Requires Windows Media Player and a high-speed internet connection
