  1. Dragonmaster, It is WILL NOT, not WON'T. On a side note, does BTW still do their chants? Would love for someone to tell me the words to the one that contains "baby in the high chair". It is hilarious. Good luck to all.
  2. You able to get the game on the internet? I can not get the Ashland City station to stream tonight? Keep the scores coming.
  3. Shawn Marion is having a very good NBA career. What has happened to the Delk twins who played at Jackson Northside and Mississippi State? Also Xavier Webb (Hansbro?) who prepped at West Carroll and played very little while at Ole Miss?
  4. The difference in this game was (again) Waverly's inability to handle the full court press. CC's cold shooting in the first half (aided with the absence of Beach) prevented the Cubs from setting up their press after a made basket. Once CC made some baskets, it was all over for the Tigers. I would like to see a shot chart from the second half. I am guessing that Waverly attempted very few shots due to the turnovers created by CC's defense.
  5. I read these same type posts every year. I think what people need to consider, and I am sure the coaches do when they vote, is who is the best player in the District? If it is a pick up game, who would you pick first? A player on a team who finishes fifth in the district (West/SC) should not receive any favortism over a player (Newton/Harpeth) who plays on a squad which wins the district. If anything, the benefit should be given to the player coming from the better team. Why? Because the better teams generally have more contributors to their success than a good player on a lessor team, which may constantly use their "go to guy". Most teams have their individual team awards at the conclusion of the season. That is the time when the respective teams can choose who was most valuable to their own team. A few years ago the MVP was shared by Harpeth's Shane Dansby and MC's Brandon Burney. Maybe the coaches will see fit to have co-MVP's as well this year.
  6. Very well written post krichunaka. I know none of the players you mentioned and very little about the teams. But it still brought a tear to my eyes. We wish her the best with her knee but rest assured this young lady will go far in life.
  7. If that happens, which as you said is unlikely, CC would still get the 3rd seed by virtue of their win over a higher seeded team (Harpeth). I believe the best Waverly could do would be a coin flip for 4th seed if the Tigerettes beat CC and CW, and Sycamore losses to Harpeth. That would leave both Sycamore and Waverly with 8-6 district records with sweeps over Fairview and SC, being swept by Harpeth, and splits with the other teams in the district. Now if Waverly only wins one game against CC or CW, they will finish with an identical 7-7 record as MC. IF Waverly beats only Creekwood AND CC beats beats Fairview (as expected) then Waverly is looking at the 6th seed. This is because MC will have beaten a higher seeded team in CC, which the Lady Cubs would become the 2nd seed. IF Wavo only beats CC, then MC and Waverly will have identical records against all the other district teams and a coin flip will be required to determine the 5th seed. Bottom line, Waverly needs to win both of their games to assure themselves of the best seeding possible. The Tigerettes have been playing well lately. They will play two well prepared teams in CW and CC that have plenty to play for as well.
  8. He is doing good but is not even leading his own team in scoring, let alone the Big 10. Adam Haluska averages over 20 ppg for the Hawkeyes.
  9. A family member mailed me a newspaper article on Tyler Smith which was printed in the Waterloo Daily Courier on January 18th. The article was quite complimentary. He is one of only 3 freshmen in the history of U. of Iowa basketball to average more than 15 ppg. Coach Steve Alford had quoted in the article that he gave much more than just points and rebounds. He said he was on pace to rank in the top 5 for all time Hawkeye freshmen in assists, steals and 3 point shooting percentage. Alford also said he had the best basketball IQ of any player on his roster. The article also said he had a 5 1/2 month old son who remains home in Tennessee. So, yes it seems like he is doing well.
  10. Waverly beat Fairview tonight in a good game. Fairview jumped out to a big lead hitting 6 3-pointers in the first quarter. Waverly fought back throughout the game and tied the game late in the 3rd period. The game see-sawed back and forth till Waverly pulled ahead in the final minutes of the game. Alex Green had 27 points and a boatload of rebounds. The win could easily leave MC, Fairview, and Waverly in a 3 way tie for 6th. Coaches Bledsoe, Young, and Rawlings may need to start practicing on calling coin flips. Seventh and eighth place will face the impossible task of playing Harpeth and Sycamore. The sixth seed will at least have a chance to compete against the 3rd seed.
  11. Stewart County beat Waverly tonight by the score of 65-37. West unofficially had 19 points, 15 of them in the 3rd quarter.
  12. Waverly Central beat Montgomery Central tonight 63-51. Alex Green had a big all around game for the Tigers.
  13. Just the opposite. Loose rims are a shooters best friend. Those in and outs would have clanged off the rim had the game been held in SC. I've read posts about how hard it is to shoot in SC's gym. A lot of that is due to the firmness of their double rims.
