I've got a new one since we are hosting most of the way! PELLET-PALOOZA!!!

I have enjoyed watching these boys this season. Some may like my post, and some may not. Doesn't matter to me. I was really concerned after 3 games. I look back and see the level of those teams and we played ok. Our coaching staff is one of the top in the state and they have made great adjustments all year. I think our defense may win us another ball. But, our offense has shown weaknesses at times. We have had some players step up in Shuff, Tyross (my boy), Stewart and many, many more that were already expected to return and do well. I don't think all of these players are looking over anyone but I think some feel it may be just as easy as last year. It won't. (I hope it is.) We don't have those big offensive playmakers that strike at any time. We will have to play with heart and work through mistakes. We have to play as a team and go hard. I haven't heard the phrase FIRESNOT in a while, but I think we gotta have it. Go Devils!

If you build it, they will come (movie was actually he). Nonetheless, winning and traditions have been built. Great Coaching and Gold Balls will bring more to our school. Proud to be part of this system! I look forward to the future!

I agree. I hope this makes the bench stonger and gives the players and coaches confidence when they are needed. Congrats to the boys. I hope they can sustain and win a conference championship. I don't think any one else is undefeated. What about District 1 on the boys side?

I know Chuckey Doak Girls is 1 and Greeneville should be 2 SG and Grainger should be very close at 3 and 4. Elizabethton should be 1 from the other district since they are 14-0. Greeneville may struggle a bit the next week or so and a big game Friday at CDHS. Greenville boys were undefeated in conference before last night. I didn't stay for the boys game. Girls game was close late but Greeneville pulled it out.

TD.....You know I've seen both sides of that fence. There are positives and negatives in both systems. Neither has an abundance of rich kids. Neither has an abundance of excessive funds. The county puts itself at a disadvantage by having four high schools. It hurts them financially, which in turn pushes kids to seek better opportunity at the other school, and it hurts them athletically.

A televised gamed? May be great for the program financially! I would loved to see them on TV.

I coach at a smaller single A school. We do not have a budget. We do not get the support of administration on the purchase of bats. We might buy 1-2 bats per year. I have advised all players not to waste their money until they know for sure what is going to happen. If they buy a bat, then they are risking only being able to use it for one year. We are not buying new bats for next year. We may be able to buy two of the new bats in the following year. This sucks for us! I think it's a racket! Someone will be making a killing on this move and it's not the schools. I understand it may be a safety issue and appreciate NFHS and TSSAA looking into it, but we are not college programs where all Varsity players get to uses new bats. Maybe buying new bats won't cause us to forego JV that year.

Trying to find a few more teams for a tournament to be held June 10th - 12th at North Greene High school. We are trying to play mostly single a teams. Maybe a few Double A teams. The cost will be $150 plus balls and will be a round robin format. Coach Shelton

Johnson City Press is reporting this as a no hitter. It's a tough call to pull a kid in a no hitter. Each Coach has to evaluate the player and the situation and Science Hill is a proven program. I am sure they evaluated both the situation and the player and made what they thought was the best decision. Mistake or not, if they go to the State tourney, you same guys will be praising his decisions. I am sure the kid will get rest and be fine in 4-5 days.

If enough teams are interested, North Greene will be hosting a tournament for next years returning and incoming players on June 10th-12th. We are hoping to play round robin style tournament. We are checking into hosting a small"er" school tournament at North Greene in June. Would be the first time hosting a tournament so we don't want to break any TSSAA rules. Looking at maybe June 10th-12th, 4 game guarntee, with as low as possible entry fee. (200 ish) Contact Jason Shelton at sheltonj1@greenk12.org if interested and I will keep you posted on the possibilty of having one here and the info.

I have no idea how we'll be with the graduation of 5 players and 1 moving to Sullivan South. The weather has definitely hampered our attempts to prepare. We are definitely rebuilding and 4th may be accurate. Coach

Unaka won district and regional last year, what are you talking about? Sounded confusing to me too. I think what he was trying to say is that District 2 is horrible and that was proved last year when both teams from district one advanced.

That was neither too pump them up or degrade them. That was to get them off here. I get tired of the preseason crap and say work your tail off and it will show up when the time counts. Right now is the time to work and not brag! Last year for those of you that recall, I said we couldn't beat some T-Ball teams. We ended up in sub state. Thats just my pre season humor to keep people guessing. I'll talk when I need to. Caoch

Why do we have to start this early? Good gracious, a lot can happen between know and then. I don't even want NG mentioned on this site until they prove themselves. If you are a player, go find a cage somewhere and work instead of jawing on here. We are not contenders!!!! We graduated 5 starters from last years team. We lost most of the outfield. We lost 2 pitchers, and 3 of the top 4 hitters. Hows does that equate to a contender team? Yes, we will work very hard. But who knows how they will come together? We are the worst in the county and probably the worst in our conference as of right now. Coach

Good reply!! If you could read you would see what I have copied from previos posts!!! The season is over. District 1 performed superbly in the Spring Fling???? LOL I congratulate them I did not disagree with the hopson play, Ejection should have been called, but in a substate game thats tough. Coafield had 4 runs in two innings on no hits. I still think Coafield scores more than 5 runs in the game and still wins with him on the mound WOW sounds to me like they were placing blame. You won...... End of story see ya next year!!!

No suprises here!! LOL! Hopson will be throwing all seven. He has had a 10 inning game and a 9 inning game and is a Senior. Chance to make history at NG. Good luck to all teams, may it be a safe day. We hit the raod about noon.

Great game! The three Hampton games may have been the best three games and closest games all year. 5 to 4 at Hampton same situation as last night but Hampton held. 7 to 6 at NG in 9 innings and then last night. It is unfortunate to that someone had to lose. Best of luck to those Seniors, keep us posted if they go anywhere. See you next year.

Jacoby Adams is going to Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville and is getting playing time as a Freshman. I don't know their season record but it was mediocre. In tournament play, they got on a hot streak and finished 2nd in their tourney I think. Jacoby told me the other day he went 19 for 23 in the tournament and all I could say was wow. He is doing well, but we all wish he was playing a little closer lol. Looks like rain again today, our tournament is beginning to look questionable?? It's still on for tonight as of right now though. Hampton vs NG at 7:00 and UH vs Unaka at 4:30.

I had the same thing happened at second , but I questioned it before I thought about it and then apologized to the ump. He got pulled of on the force and tagged the bag with his glove but the ball was in his hand. Its still a force. LOL.
