  1. Taking a Munford team that went from bottom feeder to Region champs in one year is a sign off some good coaching no matter what kind of talent there is. Another case in point, JCM has the most talent in region 7 and look at their on the field success this year. That is in no way a shot directly at Hampton but at his staff as a whole. This horse sh&* about the bucksweep not being a good play is the most rediculous statement ever made in the history of the world. Why else would most high school coaches run it, because it doesn't work? Are you kiddin me? It's easy to teach and it is effective. I don't have time to sit here and go into detail about why it is great but anybody who understands xs and os knows what I'm talking about. It is obvious you are a disgruntled former player with hate in your heart. That's a shame.
  2. I understood your post. You're actually defending him and saying he is a good coach.
  3. Well, you must've never been there. Lady, you would be leaving in a body bag. You will be outnumbered bigtime. That part of town is known for crime.
  4. They were never open. Madison and company had those guys on lock down.
  5. I went to Savannah to see this one. Madison threw 2 half back passes and the last one drew an obvious pass interference to seal the game . He never was QB. His run was from a bubble screen play where he juked the corner then put a super juke on the safety. Hardin has a receiver(#7) who is every bit as fast as Madison. It was a great battle all night. Glad I went. From what I've seen this year, Randall has settled on one QB.
  6. This guy is a freshman and UT is already getting film on him.
  7. I beg to differ. It's not hope. It's confidence. And it has come from the new head coach. If you knew the man, then you'd understand.
  8. I was interested in the situation when it came about so i did some digging myself. Word inside the Melrose program was that Madison contacted Randall to see if he could come to Munford. He had done so the previous year when Randall was at East but stayed at Melrose because of the coaching change. As far as the parent I spoke with at the Munford game, he said his son wanted to follow his coach and his cousin (the lineman) wanted to get out of Frayser not only to get in a good college but the mother didn't think the frayser area was safe to raise her son and wasn't safe for him to attend school. She was tired of it. That came from the horses mouth. According to my info. Brighton filed a complaint. The TSSAA and Tipton County School board checked into the residence situation with the kids. The had all legitimately moved and no contact had been made by Randall. As far as Milan is concerned. I just now found out about that but will try to find out more. Heck, I'm retired. I don't have anything better to do til duck season.
  9. As far as the recuiting services, I believe it's Crawford from Ridgeway.
  10. Munford ran the outside veer, they ran inside cutback trap, jet sweep and buck sweep out of the wing t, they spread em out and threw it, they ran the waggle, and numerous other things. Everything was out of multiple formations but it didn't matter. Covington blew everything up before they could get started. Yes, an option attack is difficult to prepare for in a week if you haven't seen it. However, Covington was prepared for it against Munford as I'm sure they will be against Obion County. Good luck!
  11. From the information I got, after several complaints from Brighton High school, the Tipton County board and the TSSAA checked out Munford. However, everything was clean and all were living in their said residences.
  12. I guess we'll just see what we'll see. But the heresay you talk about is phone cals to contacts (coaches) in Mid TN and West Tn. I'm basing my opinion on that. If you live in Texas how in the world do you know what is going on in TN? Have you seen Henry County. I talked to a coach yesterday afternoon about this very subject. He has seen multiple tapes of both HC and Melrose this year. He showed me Henry County tape yesterday afternoon. He says Melrose wouldn't make it past Henry County. This one of the winningest coaches in West Tn over the past decade. I respect his opinion enough to believe in what he says and after seeing the tape on them I'm inclined to agree as well. As far as the maybe having a little hatred, I wouldn't say that. I'm just not fond of, is better. I can't help but associate Melrose with one of it's former coaches who in the early 90's refused to shake the hand of one of the winningest coaches in the state's history before a playoff game. As a matter of fact, he said, "I'm not shaking your M...f..ing hand". Well, then Melrose got the crap kicked out of them. I know none of the kids there now were associated with that and as respect to you and the people at the Melrose program presently I will try to put that thought behind me. Good luck the rest of the season.
  13. You are right. The supplement is minimal at best for the time spent. Coaches spend an average of 4 hours after school practicing which sometimes can go til 9:30pm on the game field under the lights, not to mention, driving all over God's creation for tape, studying tape a couple of hours each day, scouting teams on off weeks, dealing with grades, TSSAA eligibility paperwork, parents, players, faculty, booster club, the press, and ordering supplies, and the dreadful lining the field for 4-5 hours on a thurday nights. Maybe instead of ousting the coach, just getting them in the hotseat will get more focus on the task at hand. How about waiting till the season is over and reevaluate?
  14. That's exactly right. I'm comparing it to the Buffalo Bills. The fact of the matter is the've blown their chances and if they even got back there, they would be facing a National Top 25 team in Maryville will little to no chance. Some of the officials I've talked to that have worked Melrose games have said the same thing. They're good enough to beat the teams around here but that's about it. The MUS team that beat them is not even as good as before. Melrose pulled out a squeaker last week over a bad Hamilton squad. I know you're a fan and you see it different and that is your perogative as my opinion is mine.
  15. Hillsboro, Maplewood, Springfield-take your pick- I hear they're all tough. I just think Melrose has blown too many shots at it. They won't always come around.
  16. I'm sorry I misworded my post. I meant not make it past the semis to clarify. Unless I'm mistaken, they would have to go through the 1st, 2nd, and quarter final round before reaching the semis. If that's the case they would have already beaten everybody in region 7. Wouldn't the semi be the last game before the finals?
  17. Covington's defense is flat out outstanding. They are extremely disciplined, they read their keys, and they attack with speed and athleticism. Their tackles get too much penetration. They're offense is explosive and can go the distance at any time. I Haven't seen OC but I expect Covington to win this one handily. They are just too good.
  18. From the what I saw of Northside, they have some talent. However, they will tend to beat themselves with dumb mistakes if you give them the chance. JCM needs to be patient and they will get their opportunities. Good luck to you, Yanker. By the way, hope your father is getting better.
  19. I think Melrose is god enough to squeak by in this one. However, it is evident they are not the Melrose of old. They are not as polished nd are letting teams hang around. I don't see them making it back to the title game. I predict they don't get to the semis if they continue to play this way.
  20. I diasagree. Hookfin might be the only one. Ray Charles can see that is evident by watching them on the field. Just to clarify.
  21. I've seen it before. If a coach thinks he has an easy way to get film on you and you don't have an easy one on him then he might opt to not swap with you hoping you'll never get it. I've had to coach without getting any film when the other had some and believe me if everything else is equal you are fighting an uphill battle bigtime.
  22. I think that may be harsh calling for Coach Hampton's head. I think he knows football. Heck, anyone that plays anywhere in college will pick up some football knowledge because everything is so thorough. He played at TN Tech if my memory is right. He said he had trouble getting some assistants and I think that is evident. I don't think there was that much quality interest. Any coach can tell you, you have to have some good assistants because you can't do it all by yourself. I think Coach Hampton should run the D and he needs to get in a good quality offensive coordinator with some imagination and they would be fine. The talent is there.
  23. Anybody got some stats on McNairl? yards, etc. Is he in the running for mr. Football? I haven't heard anything lately.
  24. Well, don't quote me on that. I never played him. That is just what I understand coming from some other coaches. I know Covington said that last week. Maybe I should edit my post from earlier. Might be. I do live around there.
