  1. Agree… the bye week could have saved the loss and probably some discord in the locker room.. We aren’t talking about freshman backups . Most of these were junior /senior standouts.. I don’t even disagree with holding kids out for missed practice .. Just the fact that the entire team was punished with a L because we can’t plan ahead enough to get a bye week when schools out for fall break
  2. I’m sure this won’t be a well liked perspective , but that’s why you have a bye week.. Fall break for a lot of counties is why the schedule seemed light last night. Parents only have so many options for vacations so spring / fall break is the usual suspect for them. So you punish kids who have worked their tail off for you because they chose ( probably not their choice) to vacation with family .. In the end you punished the kids that stayed because you took a loss to a much weaker team by your choice. It’s been many years but my HS coach and the philosophy of God, Family,Football.. in that order..
  3. Well that was about as bad as it could get.. Made it to the top of the mountain just to get smacked all the to the bottom. One of the worst losses in recent history.
  4. Richland embarrassed at Collinwood. 33-28.. 2 defensive TD’s and one kick return for the Trojans. looks like the Raiders of old have made an appearance. Forrest will get a big Dub next week.. Can’t understand fr the life of me how we can run at a 5 or 6 yard clip and continually try to throw the ball... I may need the general to walk me through this coaching thing
  5. Fayetteville seems to have another tough team coming. Eagleville and MC will probably have a say on the district 9 side as well Richland and Wayne Co i think will be at the top of district 10. How do yall see it going
  6. Raiders coming off their first loss of the season travels to Collinwood , who picked up their first win of the season. Know nothing about Cwood except for seeing their record. Can the Raiders bounce back strong and keep it rolling for post season or is this a “rat poison” game
  7. Swallow that crow with pride.. Raiders played a great 3 qtrs of football. Only problem for them is it takes 4. Looked flat from opening kick and didn’t look like they had a chance to even keep it inside a running clock. The raiders of old would have folded and lost by 50. These boys tightened up and fought back making this a good game to watch. Now if the train just stays on track they should run this last half of season and finish 2nd in region play..
  8. Not sure Nick Saban could win with the current talent level and numbers. No slight at all to the young men playing. Undersized, low numbers, .. The talent level just isn’t the same as what you’re use to the past few years. Looking at the middle school program it’s gonna be a few more years before it’s back to competitive . Waddell May be terrible but he never had a chance..
  9. Running clock by half.. Mt P dominating
  10. Can’t see Santa Fe contending this year . They lost the oldest Slaughter and both bigs.. The 2 starters coming back are talented but only sophomores with not a lot of help..
  11. Have always said that in a small school setting you HAVE to get your atheltes from other sports on the football field . Some of those basketball, baseball, or soccer guys could take you to another level imo. Doesn’t take away from the kids playing but it’s always better to have more options
  12. We’ve almost stopped the bleeding away to Giles .. So that’s a huge upside. Also have youth football again , didn’t have that here for a long time .
  13. No Richland is not there. But they’re closer than they’ve been since the mid 90’s. ( when they played Page 92, 93). Current HC is from you’re favorite Hohenwald school. Definitely not Cornersville of 4/5 years ago ( but neither is Cornersville ) also not Cornersville of the 30 years prior to those few good years. Are we winning a gold ball , well probably not anytime soon but in our current region alignment (2A ) , they can compete for a few years . Now for actual game .. Mt Pleasant definitely isn’t on a down year. They’re loaded in talent at skill positions across the field. They have 1 loss to a 5A school where the game was tied late in the 4th. Winner more than likely wins this region and has a much easier path for a couple playoff games. I’m still not sold on the Raiders myself but that’s because I’ve lived thru these last 30 years of mediocrity. Kind of like being a Tennessee fan currently. However I’m also old enough to remember the Alabama years of mediocrity so that lets the hope live..
  14. Completely Agree.. winning is a mindset imo. With our coach coming from LC I was a little worried about a cupcake non region schedule to pad then W’s. I do think this group is different but only time will tell. If we lose and history stands true we could easily end up 5-5 begging for someone else to help us get in the playoffs. I was a lot more confident til we give up 47 on a below average opponent..
  15. Corn is now back to being irrelevant under this coaching staff. Hate to see it but had to know it was coming. Look at the youth teams. Not much coming to help ( for years ). Randolph made his timing perfect to forever concrete his “Moses” stature.. No chance they head back to the promised land of relevance any time soon
  16. Agree about the first big test for Richland. Not sure about the blowout tho. Raiders have a pretty good offense this season. So if they avoid giving up the big play over the top they have a shot.
  17. Was able to go see Mt P against Central last night (wasn’t driving to Memphis for Richland ) . Second time I’ve seen the tigers and they are for real. This game will come down to the tigers QB . He’s the difference maker, if he can make the throws they will win. I’d give Mt P a huge advantage on special teams also, kicker has a boot, anyone back to receive a kick or punt has exceptional speed (especially Meza) Raiders have looked great at times but have had flashes of Raiders of yesteryear.. They have to stay disciplined on defense and not let those speedsters get to the edge and can’t get beat deep multiple times in this one
  18. Columbia, Cascade , Marion , Lewis , Richland and Stown..
  19. Thanks General .. Hopefully we can change that in 2 weeks. Until then we will live up the underdog role
  20. Gonna hold my prediction til after Friday for Richland / Mt P. The injury bug seems to be a factor annually in this game. Rumor mill has Mt P down a receiver and Richland down a DB.. Could be critical in this contest
  21. Admittedly things are looking good so far this year. I’ve seen 4 of the 6 teams live so far and I do think that Richland has a shot to be at or near the top at the end. However lets not forget that we are 2-0 against the two 0-2 region teams. Still can’t understand Mt P playing Columbia Central right in the middle of the region schedule . Didn’t know they had an injury Friday but I do hope the young man is back soon. I think the physical play of the Raiders will be something that’s hard for the Tigers to endure for 4 qtrs. Loretto will be tough if they have time to throw the ball down the field no clue yet what to expect for Forrest, they seem to have a different mind set every week..
