  1. I'm sorry but i don't see any disrespect by either team on here. Do we not teach our kids from day 1, since they first touched a ball to never be intimidated by ur oppenent and always believe in urself? I mean we are dealing with teenage kids here who have dreams ambitions and desires that we as adults can't have because out time has passed. These kids have these moments to enjoy and remember,(especially the Sr.'s) because it doesn't last forever. That is what is so great about High School football. One of these team's Sr. Class Friday night will play their last EVER football game in their entire life. Most kids don't go on and play in college so for the rest of them THIS IS IT. These kids have known football for over a decade now and the idea that they will never play again just sometimes doesn't sit well with certain individuals, especially the ones that work the hardest. So to say either team is disrespectful of another team just because they aren't afraid of the other team's history, their state ranking, or their record is rediculus. Try telling ur kid to not believe in himself and see how that sits. I know ur from Morristown and u like people to respect ur football tradition, but other school's either have their own or are trying to make some. Both teams will reveal their spirit, will to win, and love for the game, and whoever comes out on top deserves to move on, and whoever loses will be heartbroken. But that's athletics it ain't about only Winning, like in life the losers have something to learn, and gain as well. Both teams will come Friday ready to play and I can't wait to c what happens...

  3. Volunteer has improved drastically since the beginning, but they're catching TN High at the wrong time. This team is firing on all cyclinders and are finally playing up to their potential. Friday night is this year's senior classes' last ever game in the Castle, so for all you Falcons that are hoping that the Vikings are looking to Mo West, no such luck. This senior class will take care of buisness in the Castle for their last time. But don't worry Falcons, your time will be next year, 9 returing on Offense, and 8 on Defense, I look for the Falcons to be the #2 seed out of the 5 Rivers a year from now, Junior Class is for real, good luck to both teams. Vikings-24 Falcons-0
  4. Glee i hope your Cyclones come to play tonight and show the heart i know they have, i have tons of respect for Preston , i hope tonight's not his last game, he has a competitive spirit, if the Cyclones all buy into it, it will be a long night for the Longhorns....
  5. We'll see who's upset after either the first or second round.....hahaha the usual D-B way, undefeated season with nothing to show for it when it comes to playoff time. Maybe finally the voters will realize D-B never was and still isn't #1 in 5A, but maybe they just do that cuz they know it'll make them choke when it really matters. Ootewah has D-B's # if they make it that far... D-B plays too many 4A Geographical rivals, if D-B plays a tougher non-conference scheduel, then they will start winning State Titles. The ingredients are there, the schedueling just kills their Title hopes. It's better to finish 9-1, 8-2, 7-3, and have been tested and find your team, then to roll through a scheduel 10-0. It's not rocket science, it's fact...
  6. Who's the best at each position throughout the state in 4A?...
  7. Last weeks win awoke the sleeping Giant that is the 2006 Viking Football Team. Look for a statement from the Vikings as they prepare for vengence in the Class 4A TSSAA Playoffs. This team has tons of potential and if they continue to come together, people will be surprised when it's all said and done. Vikings-35 Radiers-9
  8. I've seen alot of football in East TN and my standouts are #40 Burnette,#42 Thompson,#19 Papus for DB (leaders of that amazing #1 in 5A Defense). #50 Justin Dykes for Sullivan South has given that program some stability on the defensice side. All MLC defensive player of the year a yr ago. #47 Will Scheuer for TN High has a nose for the football, always around the ball and brings an attitude when he gets there, and is being looked at by a couple Ivy League schools i believe. and #44 for Mo West has all the size and mind set, with some speed he could be major D-1 material. All have D-1 possibilities and always seem to be around the ball. These men in my mind are All-State in their respected classifications. Hard hittin with an attitude, look for all 6 to find homes in college football if they so desire.
  9. This is the NET game of the week, (D-B should handle Science Hill) Elizabethon has to stop Atwood and put pressure on the QB when he drops back. Johnson County needs Atwood to come back after a frustrating performance against the stengy THS defense. Also, the Longhorns must contain Preston Smith and put pressure on him all night. All in all it comes down to Preston Smith's playmaking ability against Jessie Atwood's (both depend on team's effort). These 2 Seniors will step up on their final regular season game. Smith has more motivation because if he loses, it will be his final game in the Orange and Black. O ya and it's in E Town. 14 straight playoff appearances on the line for the Cyclones. Cyclones- 24 Longhorns- 21
  10. THS seniors realize if they lose this game, they have already played their final game EVER in the Stone Castle. That just isnt a pill this group is willing to swollow. Expect a breakout game for the Vikings, 2 weeks in a row without being tested gave this group time to recover from back-to-back devestating losses, but i believe it will only make this group tougher in the long run. Make no mistake about it, if the Vikings come out with the right attitude, it will be a long night for Mr. Atwood and the Mnt. City Longhorns. But weither that happens is up to the players. Thats why you play the game. I have tons of respect for Johnson County and the way they play. This 2A team is always a team to look out for in this 4A conference. However, the Longhorns rely too much on #25, He is the entire offense, the target is on his chest, the Viking D knows who it is to stop, if Atwood get 100 yards rusing in this game he will have my vote for All-State seeing as no back has put 100 on the Vikings single handedly all season. The question is if a shakey Viking Offense who hasnt looked crisp in a while, can find their rythm. Vikings-28 Longhorns-14 (Side Note: THS will be without Senior Guard A.J. Kirkman for the rest of the season. The 5'11 285 pounder tore his MCL during practice on Wendesday. Look for freshmen Bradly Tallman and Alex Taylor to step into action the rest of the season. Junior previous starter Justin Hutchinson 5'10 255lbs is still sidelined with multiple concusions. Senior defensive tackle standout Nathan Bryant 6' 220 is back to form after a seperated shoulder has hampered his play the last 3 weeks. Senior MLB Stan Franczek 5'11 185lbs missed the second half of last week's game due to being kicked in the mouth. However, he will be starting and should not be affected by the injury tomorrow night.)
  11. What we don't realize is Elizabethton not only has a shot still at the playoff, but they have a very good shot at the #3 seed in the conference. With a TN High defeat of Johnson County, and if Elizabethton can beat Central and Johnson County the next two weeks, this 2-6 team will be looking at probably Mo. East in the first round of the playoffs. All the Cyclones can do is control their end of the deal. They still, however need either East or Central to beat Unicoi in the last two games becaue Unicoi has the tiebreaker. With all that said, why give up now???? Their is no doubt in my mind this Cyclone team can win out and become the #3 seed in the MLC. I've seen the Cyclones play twice this year, and I know what kind of a player Smith is. He is a natural competitor and a joy to compete with. If his team will buy into a positive attitude, their will be smiling faces in Betsy town, 9 days from now. If their is any doubt in the Cyclones players then I gurantee you this miraculus turnaround will not happen. High school football is the best game their is, and stories like this make it so great. All we can do is sit back and see if these kids believe in themselves like they did in the first half against D-B which seemed like a century ago, but the realistic thing is, it was the same group of guys, and the same coaching staff, just with a different attitude. These Cyclones have 2 games left to prove their worth and save their, what everyone was ready to quit on, season..... Cyclones- 24 Cougars-17
  12. I like Unicoi in this matchup simply because they have so much to play for. The Unicoi program has gone from never winning an MLC game to now on the brink of a playoff birth. Make no mistake about it. A win by Unicoi in this game will put them in the playoffs due to the tie breaker with Elizabethton. That being said, I like the Devils to come out ready to play Fri night. Unicoi has made a huge turnaround since the 55-0 loss at home to TN High. Good luck to both teams.... Unicoi-21 Sullivan East-14
  13. The MLC looks like it's gonna go down to the wire for the 4th and final seed. Unnicoi,East,Elizabethton, and North all have shots. I've seen North's scheduel and don't think they have a shot. What is Unnicoi, East, and Elizabethton's remaining scheduel? Who will come up big with 3 weeks left to play?....
  14. The Vikings Defense is the only thing consistant right now for this team. If Stubbs can find a way to get the offense going then this team has all the weapons needed for a DEEP playoff run. However, that's a large IF and something needs to be done before season's end. This team will enter the playoffs 8-2 as the second seed, and they will face Cherokee or Mo East in the first round. After that it's Mo West @ Mo West. If this team's potential can be reached by that game, then I think we'll find an instant classic down in Morristown, knowing that the Vikings would get another shot at South with a victory. Back to reality.... Vikings-35 Cougars-0
  15. Boone must come out ready to play like THS did against D-B two weeks ago. That was by far the best quarter I've ever seen from a THS team. However, playing teams like Mo-West and D-B you must play nearly flawless football. Turnovers killed the Vikings and Boone Friday night will need some turnover from the Trojans to make their much wanted jump into the class of the league. Mo-West's program prevails unless they underestimate the Trailblazers. Either way here's my prediction. Mo-West-35 Boone-6
  16. Indians-21 Bears-10 J. Fred just too much for Sevier Co.
  17. South just came off the biggest and most impressive outing of the year. An effort they have not shown all season. Whereas the Cyclones come off by far the worst effort they've had all season. South will not be ready to play Friday Night and the Cyclones will give South a good game into the second half. However, barring some Rebel turnovers, I don't see the Cylcones pulling it out. Rebels-31 Cyclones-21
  18. Vikings make the first step in the right direction towards and re-match with South down the road... Vikings-35 Patriots- 0
  19. Enough with the immature jokes, South's Offense has not seen a defensive like the Viking's since they played D-B, the lack of scoring will be similar in the Castle tonight...
  20. Why are you so quick to call people a moron? They don't agree with a D-B point of view so their stupid. People that have to call others names and put people down are usually lacking a lot of self confidece, (Not confidence in D-B cuz we know you have more than enough of that), since normally after this post you would probly say now i'm the moron of the week, take a look in the mirror and realize that the only moron maybe be closer than you think. It kills me how Throp gets a fumble to roll into his arms, and makes one good break on a pass and all the sudden he's mr. everything. lol But then any1 who wears an Indian jersey is a god right? lol Go back to watching Two-A-Days and eating your Cheetos for another week since you don't have a opposing team to trash. Just think what kind of person it takes to talk trash to people you've already defeated, doesn't take much character to kick a man when he's down. But then again i don't expect none nor have any respect for some of you D-B fans, you really make that school look like a bunch of stuck up their own butt know it alls who all they want to do is tell you how good they are and how bad you lost. But if that is what it takes to make you feel good about yourself then go for it. We all know D-B is a good team, we all know they beat Tn High 41-7 and that fits in perfect because that allows u to act like D-B was the mass superiority in that game. I wish the world we give people what they deserve and after the heart the Vikings showed against a very good #1 team in the state last week for it to be all washed away by 5 stupid mistakes and overshadow the effort they gave, i believe justice will be paid and this sr class will finally get what they deserve, expect the Vikings to tear the hinges off tonight in the Castle....
  21. People don't dislike an individual for no reason. I don't think there are many people who hate a high school athlete just because their jealous of him. I don't know anyone who is that sick, but i do know, and yes, from experience that Throp is a player who competes with a high level of passion, and that is in no way a bad thing. This passion is what makes sports so compelling to watch. When it becomes a problem is when this passion is directed in a dirogatory fashion towards the opposing team. And repeated acts such as this should not be tolerated or respected. There is no place for this in high school sports. Especially when it is not enduced. So you can get your boy's back all you want, but that doesn't make all of his actions correct. Personally I'm sick of hearing about this topic, and would like us all to forget about it, because now i think he's just enjoying the attention. Which is probly why it was all started in the first place.
  22. TN High's defense this year is the real deal. South can bet on this game being a lot more physical then their game with Johnson County, just ask any DB player. I expect Curt Phillips to come out ready to play, but a one man star is too easy to stop on the high school level, TN High's O will eat the clock and the Vikings will take back the MLC, 24-3...
  23. This TN High team is on a mission, from day 1 since South won last yr, the only thing on the Vikings mind is taking back the title. No matter the D-B outcome, this game is the one THS wants, don't mistake that, the Castle is the perfect place to take back the title. This game will be very emotional for the Vikings, all those seniors have been looking forward to this game for a long time.
