  1. Anyone know how did that u17 cobras/Metros team did at state this year????
  2. I never said the sports writer was not "worthy" of selecting the Tennesseean's All-Midstate team...If you reveiw my original reply, I simply said the list should be taken with a grain of salt. Then I proceeded to explain why. Moreover, I never said ODP was a pre-requisite to making the All-midstate team. As someone mentioned in a previous post there are very talented players who choose not to participate in ODP. I was simply making an observation that there were players who excelled at the Odp Regional and National level (which is WAY more competitive than high school soccer) yet they didn't even make the first team of the All-Midstate. It was just an observation I thought to be amusing and ironic. No need to read more into it than that.
  3. I assure you that the standard for being selected to the ODP Region III team/pool is WAY higher than the standard set by a sports writer at the Tennesseean. Whether or not "solid players in the state choose not to participate in ODP" has no bearing on whether an individual player is selected to the Region III ODP team/pool. You could have all of the very best players in the state of Tennessee on the state ODP team and if the Region III staff does not think any one of them is in the top 25-30 players from all of the 12 states in Region III, then no one from Tennessee will make the Region team/pool.
  4. You should take such lists with a grain of salt and consider the source. In other words, it is quite ironic that players like Charlotte Clayton at Independence, the goalkeeper and the new girl at BGA, were three of only about 8 players from the state of Tennessee to be selected for the ODP Region III team/pool, yet they were not even selected to the first team All mid-state. I guess the difference is that those who made the selection for the Region III ODP team are mostly, if not all, division 1 college coaches with obvious soccer backgrounds. From my understanding, it is a sports writer (with little if any soccer background) for the Tennesseean who makes the selection for the All-Midstate team. Just something to think about.
  5. If I heard correctly, Brentwood Attack advanced to the semis of thier bracket at the Orange Classic.
  6. Brentwood's U17 girls teams are headed to Florida over the Christmas break. Real Madrid is going to Disney and Pride is going to Orange Classic. Best of luck to them both!
  7. Check out the following websites: www.tnfc.org www.brentwoodsoccerclub.com TNFC has two U18 teams and Brentwood has one. They are the only two clubs that I have heard that has a U18 team.
  8. This is fun!!! and I'm certainly not embarrased. I would only be embarrased if I was wrong...and I'm not wrong on this one. I have an idea, why don't you ask college coaches why they don't come to high school games. Or do you even know any? I know plenty and can certainly do the research for you if you like. You are right in that coaches can go to club tournaments and have the opportunity to see multiple players and multiple games, but the fact remains that college coaches recruit from club teams because that is where the talent is and developed. Why don't you ask coach MacDonald at FRA or coach Johnson at BA...they are both former college coaches and currently coach high school. I'd be willing to bet they agree with me!
  9. "It cracks me up when I hear club coaches claiming that you don't develop during the high school season. Actually, it's the opposite. Because of the reasons I've given, you develop more during those 3 months than you would if you stayed with the same club. Regardless of your coach! " That has to be the funniest comment I've read on this message board so far. If High school soccer is so good at developing players, then why do college coaches recruit from club teams and tournaments???? How many college coaches have you seen at high school games? I bet it doesn't even compare to the number of college coaches at high level club tournaments, but then again, it sounds like you haven't been to many, if any, of those type of tournaments. The "3 month" argument is not entirely accurate as most HS teams, including my daughters, begin training long before the season starts. And while club coaches may technically have thier players for more months than a high school coach, HS coaches can train almost every day of the week compared to a club team's 2 or 3 days a week. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely some great HS coaches in TN (especially in the DII division - Baylor, Hutchison, BA, BGA, Harpeth Hall), but there are probably more weak coaches than strong ones...just my opinion.
  10. Just curious, how has this arsenal team done in the past TN state tournaments? champions, finalists, semi-finalists?????
  11. FYI: link to NCAA recruiting overview chart http://www1.ncaa.org/membership/membership..._chart_6_23.pdf As the chart says, college coaches CAN correspond with juniors in high school (letters, email, text messaging, instant messaging, etc.).
  12. That's great! What colleges are they getting letters from?
  13. "she's new to the area and plays for TNFC" Which TNFC team does she play for?
  14. Wasn't able to make the game. Only heard about final score. Details, thoughts, or opinions would be most appreciated.
  15. While I know who you are (your screen name as well as your posts make it obvious), I don't really know you and as such I was not suggesting that you don't care about other girls... of course you do. What parent doesn't care about their daughther's friends and teammates. I was simply making an observation...that in your posts about BA you almost always manage to slip in something about the "BA keeper" (your daughter) and rarely, if ever, about anyone else on the BA team. Just an observation that I find funny. Best of luck tonight. Hope the weather cleans up as I would like to come watch since my daughter isn't playing.
