  1. This is a tiresome conversation, dude and the point is moot since Greeneville historically chose to play up in classification. I do however have a problem with those who view us as having "stepped down in classification" this year....technically we remained in 4A....and we aren't a particularly large 4A school either at approximately 850 students. All of our previous conference foes in Five Rivers are 5A and 6A and our non-conference schedule still contains some of our traditional larger rivals. Like Giles county, this year brought changes that for many were unwanted. Those of you who said playing AA would make us weak....well we're here! We're here because of a Senior QB who waited 3 years for his chance to start....with a junior RB who lost half his regular season to an injury and still managed impressive numbers. We're here because of gutsy goal line stands and blocked kicks...with a sophomore kicker who can nail a 50 yarder and a senior punter who's gonna be difficult to replace. Hard Yards....thats what Ballard calls them and every one was earned. We're here because Nick Craney knocked the fire-snot out of RB's and Rob Wright made some amazing grabs in the corner of the end-zone. We're here because we dominated our district, and defeated Chattanooga's finest and won a brutal defensive battle against a determined White's Creek team....and for the first time in the history of Greeneville High School, we're playing for a championship....yeah playing AA made us weak. Amen Barb, why do we have to keep beating this dead horse? Please nobody try and dispute what Barb said above. She about painted the complete picture. You can only add to what she said, but you can't take anything away from it. But, I'm sure there are plenty out there that want to dispute it and will try.
  2. Congratulations Mr. Football ! A tremendous honor and deserving of even this Greene Devil's applause. I am looking forward to seeing you play. Can anyone comment on his college preferences? I know Giles County is awfully close to that Crimson Tide state line.
  3. I can top that Bud....i had a friend of mine from North Georgia that told me Greeneville couldn't run with the Chattanooga area teams cause we had "too many white boys"
  4. Don't count your chickens! The Bobcats still have one more game to play! If you will notice this is not a Giles County fan-just someone who saw them play. We very well know we have one more game to play no need to point that fact out. I don't think anyone on the team is counting their chickens before they hatch. Hmmm, just a wee bit on edge it seems.
  5. Good job catching up bud. Now, no more time away until after Saturday.
  6. We have more in common than we realize, I guess. At least your economy still blows. Greeneville's is about out of breath to the point it cant even blow anymore. I agree with you on the time slot. Greeneville will bring a very excited crowd. Loud and energetic, yet I think you will find most to be humble, respectful, and polite. Unless of course, they go through with that plan to load a few buses up from the Greene County Correctional Center. They are allowed one field trip per year and this may be it.
  7. Yeah, and it looks like the smack talk is a pretty even matchup. Nobody is talkin smack im simply typing what someone from Greeneville told me..He said that Greeneville has players in good shape that plays bothsides of the ball...With a team like Giles im just sayin its not gonna be easy..you see what happen to crockett against liberty..crockett was up that whole game but dew to them playin they starters on defense and offense they got winded and liberty ate them up 48 to 21 Well I'll be darned. Please accept my apologies. I confused some of your 15 posts to this thread already as smack talk. Pardon me, I've only been reading for 41 years, I'm not an expert at it yet.
  8. Yeah, and it looks like the smack talk is a pretty even matchup.
  9. Total waste of time to even argue the officiating. For one, its always a waste of time anyway after the game is over, but secondly, this was the worst called game I've seen in a long time and guess what? It favored White's Creek all night. I'm not going to go back and forth on here about it, but if you disagree, you weren't there. Now, run along and go play with lionheart.
  10. Ya gotta love seeing STARSNBARS on the Gville thread. Glad Momma Stars lets you use her puter.
  11. From Greeneville...Hey Rebels, hoping we all get the opportunity to run into each other in Cookeville. Good luck Friday night!
  12. From Greeneville...Hey Betsy, hoping we all get the opportunity to run into each other in Cookeville. Good luck Friday night!
  13. Hmmm, I don't know. Have you brought this up to him personally or are you just trying to stir something up on a public board?
  14. I can't believe you expect people to think you're from GreenEVILle when you can't even SPELL IT!!! Dang Barb! And I was buying his whole story 'til you pointed that out. I think Gville has a plan to forfeit at the last minute and take the boys over to the Chattanooga aquarium...kind of a field trip thing. If I'm not mistaken, a forfeit is officially a 1-0 win and I heard the coaches say last night they just want to be the team to lose to RB by the smallest margin.
  15. I can see where some Greeneville fans are perceived as cocky, but I don't think that's really the case. Well, maybe with an exception or two. There is no doubt that Greeneville is the underdog here. We are not supposed to win this game. But, we've been in this situation several times the last few years and even going back into ancient history and managed to pull a few off. So, it just comes down to this: If you think you CAN'T win, then you are probably right. I'm just hoping for a good game, and of course I'm hoping for a Greeneville victory.
  16. There is no practice today. We can't beat Red Bank, so there is no point in practicing. Today is movie and pizza day. I believe the team is going bowling tomorrow, but not sure about the rest of the week.
  17. The only gold ball ya'll will be getting will have to come next week Thank you to all the RB fans posting on here. You're making the Devil fans look a lot better.
  18. I was pondering a way to bring that up. Glad you mentioned it, Barb. Let me see if I can put this in your words...IMO, their little 26 member band absolutely beat the "fire snot" out of our army of an ensemble. I was thoroughly entertained by them the entire night...even up to the very last play they were into it...TWO to the Brainerd band and also Brainerd team for never saying die. That would be where we disagree....I really enjoyed the drum line but thought the dance team was vulgar and tasteless....I can't think of too many of us that would allow our teenage daughters to perform a routine composed entirely of hip gyrations and pelvic thrusts thinly veiled by the title "marching band". I have been around a while and thought I'd seen everything but I thought it was disgusting and offensive. Several mothers sitting close to me saw it as the perfect time to take their children to the concession stand( I thought I was gonna have to take the 'ol man too). I guess we're gonna have to preview a visiting school's half-time show from now own to make sure its G rated. Well, now I'm embarassed because I didn't see all that that you described. I saw them take the field at half, watched for a second, but I had my own plumbing issues to take care of at halftime, then of course had to grab a green & white. But, each time I glanced at the field, I just saw a lot of life out there. Now, with that said and without going into much further detail, I've been around awhile too, and I've seen what I'm sure is just as bad if not worse than what you described. It's a big world out there when you venture out of rural east Tennessee. I really missed the vulgarity you described, because I wasn't in the stands much of halftime. My positive reaction was primarily toward the drum line. They were very good and they worked hard all night, even from the stands.
  19. I guess its no secret I'm picking Greeneville in the upset here. I mean after all, look at my screen name plus picking Red Bank is just too easy. So, I've got to go with the Devils. I'm confident they will spend a hard week on the practice field and come to Chattanooga prepared. Then, it will become an issue of every single kid in a green helmet precisely performing his assigned duty and leaving nothing unspent on the field. Being no stranger to this situation, I can't see Greeneville feeling intimidated. The two 330 lb. twins that transferred in this week from Florida won't hurt either, I just hate that the transfer voids their Florida all-state honors. Prediction: Red Bank 28-27 late and Greeneville kicks a game winning field goal with under 30 seconds to play.
  20. Thanks bluelionheart23. I'll go ahead and concede defeat in one category. RB has an outstanding website. Really good. Now, don't expect me to concede defeat just yet in the game though. Greeneville will have to bring their best game with them, no doubt. Looking forward to a good one. I just hope it will be. See ya Friday night.
