Milan had trouble hitting their short shots and Marshall Co. didn't and hit some big 3s. One of the most athletic games I've seen in a girls game in a long time. I think Marshall Co. may be there next year as well with that March girl. Great Job Lady Bulldogs..... go get em in Big 10 action Chantel!

I just think it's pathetic that a team that has taken everything to the basket has 2 FT attempts while a team that is a perimeter oriented team that shoots 14 3s has 1 more.

Unbelievable that we have 2 FT attempts the whole game, yet the refs want to call off the ball fouls vs. Poston and Glenn for battling with March. Yet, when March tries to battle to front Poston and Glenn nothing is called. Consistency is all a fan hopes for. Being consistently good or consistently bad but be CONSISTENT!

I'm going to venture to guess that Simpson starts out on her, and Chantel gets her in the 2nd half barring foul trouble. Why do I think this? The Obion Co. game in the region had Simpson/Hamn guarding Rooney in the 1st half to let Chantel stay out of foul trouble. Chantel got one foul in the first half allowing Coach Volbert to let Chantel play aggressive vs. the other team's best offensive threat with 4 fouls to work with with. He tried to implement that vs. Upperman until Davis hit 3 3's vs. Simpson who was clearly outmatched vs. a more athletic Davis. In both results Rooner and Davis were shut down when Chantel gets put on them and Milan wins both games. I'm still sad that I will miss this game. However, Robin and the Internet TV makes me happier than I would be without so it's not as bad. After going Wednesday and Friday, I feel at home watching Milan in that spacious arena lol.

On drives she scored 3 points vs. Poston all coming from the FT line. The other was a long 3 that any coach would just let her keep shooting if she wanted. The one down on our end was a clean play that shouldn't have been called FTs, and it came right after that tall girl hacked Perica on the other end so Coach V wasn't happy. From our end the one down there where Lashay picked off a lazy pass looked clean when Chantel chased her down and jumped. I don't know how she could've grabbed her jersey when she jumped but maybe she did. If that was the gameplan, I can see why some bash the coach of Upperman. However, don't let it get to ya because they bashed Coach Volbert before this season too. If Lashay could beat Poston off the dribble then why would your coach have her just at the top of the key where Chantel was up in her grill making sure she didn't bust another three? When you're down by 10 at the end of 3, Lashay didn't drive. When Milan went on a 13-0 run at start of 4th qtr. there was still no dribble penetration. Lashay is a player, and I haven't seen Upperman as much as you guys. But as I said before the game, they reminded me of Bradford in that if you stop/slow down when player then it's an easy win. In Bradford's case Proudfit like Chantel manhandled earlier in the year (true manhandling in any fan's opinion for those who didn't watch the game) and in this case limiting Lashay to 6 points the last 26 minutes of the game. I just hope those role players step up next year when I go to Murfreesboro so I can see Lashay have some help because she's a game no doubt. BTW where is Lashay going to college?

1. According to your logic, the GC fan meant that the GC seniors weren't the "heart" of the team since the "heart" of the team is coming back. I didn't slam any GC players, but Pate was the only starter and in terms of production there is going to be a gain with that amazing 8th grade class coming up. You run out of ammo and use something idiotic when the GC fans know exactly what I meant by my statement. 2. Your summary was that Upperman will be back while GC loses 4-5 seniors, OC loses 6-7 seniors, etc.... That's misleading. GC does lose 4-5 seniors but who are those seniors they are losing and what is coming up? It would be misleading for me to say that Milan will be there because they are either defending state or state runner-up champs and only lost two seniors.... and not mentioning those seniors happen to be Chantel and Shaniqua. 3. I didn't bash the Upperman players.... I stated the obvious observation of the game. Chantel gets put on Lashay and Lashay scored 6 points in the final 26 minutes. If that's bashing, then yeah I guess I'm bashing. If me pointing out that Coach Volbert told his players to back off everyone besides Lashay Davis is bashing then yeah I guess I'm bashing. If me pointing out that Milan had a double digit lead comfortably through the 2nd quarter before Upperman cut it to 5 because Chantel had a mental breakdown and then only to point that Milan re-built that double digit lead from about the 5 minute mark of the 3rd quarter until it ended with 14 straight points in the 4th quarter.... then yeah I'm bashing. 4. I have a pi$$ing match with no one. Obviously you can't handle an analysis of a game and then I'm a bad guy for defending one of our players for being a bad sport. I do apologize to gator, but it just really made me mad at the time because I saw no point in it on a message board and thankfully he did as well.

You guys lose 4-5 seniors, but besides Pate none are big losses with that 8th grade class coming up. To say Gibson Co. is losing 4-5 seniors makes it sound like Gibson Co. is doomed. That's not the case at all and was trying to point that out GC Pioneer. You guys are going to have your way through the district and region next year. I think the Martin-GC games will be fun to watch though.

I think you need to look at what sparked this discussion. You and your buddy making excuses as to why you lost and then call out Chantel Poston for being a poor sport. I think my team's play did speak for itself as we won by 20 points. You and your buddies can sugar coat it all you want, but it still says Milan won by 20 points. Sorry to be a jerk, but you say I'm on here "thumping my chest" but ignore the fact that nothing came from me until some comments that were either 1. Excuses or 2. Pathetic when you call out a player because your team just got smoked. Now I know you're a respectable poster gator, but it's pathetic that you come on here and call out a player that just kicked your teams tail with 21 points and 13 rebounds and yet you expect no comments. I give you credit for editing, but people just like me saw the post and those comments. Yes Milan dominated and all you guys can do is point to oh we were withing 1-3 with 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.... completely ignoring the fact you were down 10 after the 3rd qtr. Then you ignore the fact that you got outscored 14-0 to start the 4th quarter. 4 quarters= a basketball game. I would love to know how many minutes of those 32 were with Milan up double digits. I'm sorry but there is no excuse that can sugar coat the fact Milan dominated Upperman! You can't use fatigue because Milan plays only 6 players; you can't use personnel because Davis is Mrs. Basketball Candidate; you can't use anything except Milan turned the defensive intensity up. If you want to say Lashay played well when Poston was put on her then you can lie to yourself but the facts remains that she was taken out of her game after Chantel was put on her after she scored the 9 points on Simpson. 6 points, 3 of which were terrible calls by the officials after Chantel supposedly fouled her, were scored by Davis. She didn't drive much with Poston guarding her because she knew she couldn't take Poston off the dribble. Without her penetrating, Upperman is a good, not great team.

Sorry but Gibson doesn't lose 4-5 seniors. They lose one starter, and if you have trouble stopping Gray, then have fun stopping Butler! Milan will represent this year and Gibson Co. will next year.

No one said that Coach V told his players to back off Lashay and let her shoot; I said Coach V backed his players off the other girls. The strategy was to shut down all aspects of Davis's game, and outside of 3 quick 3s against a girl that shouldn't have been guarding her in the first place in Simpson, Chantel shut her down for 6 points in the final 26-27 minutes. I'm not taking anything away from your girls, but I think that it shows if you have someone causing havoc like a Poston vs. Davis then the role players are not yet mature enough to step up.

I disagree that Gray didn't outhustle Upperman. When one player slashes through 3 players, and those players are just left in awe.... that is outhustle or a woman playing amongst girls. Also, that first half ended with good fortune for Upperman. Chantel made a stupid mistake and got upset and made another stupid mistake that led to a basket for Upperman and a TO. Milan was consistently up 10 throughout the game, and yes Milan did show they had more athleticism. It was not an up and down game that some people perceive that Milan is good at. Milan beat them in the half court game and still showed their superior athleticism in a half court game.

What attitude was that? The only attitude she had was when she got the ball stolen from her before the 2nd half then threw a lazy pass for a TO on the inbounds. Besides that, what are you talking about? Also, Upperman didn't get the shots they wanted. You're sugar coating the fact that Upperman was manhandled defensively by a good defensive team. There's no shame in that. Upperman got open looks from players that Coach Volbert told his players to back off of and let shoot. I call that good coaching that he wants those players to take and miss open shots because obviously he knows some of them aren't confident. At one point there was an Upperman girl in the corner a couple of feet inside the 3 point line and looked over to the bench as to seek permission to shoot an open shot because Coach V told Hamn to back off her. She shot and missed.... plan worked. As I said, Lashay Davis couldn't handle the pressure from Chantel Poston. She got 9 quick points in the first quarter because Coach V wanted to save Poston from potential foul trouble and insert her vs. Davis in the 2-4 qtrs. and had Simpson guarding her. After those 3 threes he quickly put Poston on her, and she had 6 points (should've been 3 if the refs don't call two phantom fouls on Poston during Davis's drives resulting in 3 out of 4 FTs). I highly doubt that the official mistaked an order barked at a player for one barked at him. I mean when you say something like "Box Out" or some other basketball term, a ref has to know that's not aimed towards him. It may have been, but it's extremely doubtful that he can mistake basketball lingo for criticism. Shaniqua Gray is a human video game because she makes moves that are suppose to be impossible for a girl to make. Chantel was amazing as well and nailed everything. I'm not sure about the stats, but I think the person that said Chantel missed a lot is mistaken.

Lemme guess.... Bradford has a better team than Milan too right?

She is suppose to go the JUCO route hoping to play D1 ball for a major school. Hopefully, she can be like the Bobbit girl on UT and come in and make an impact after JUCO.

In no way was I trying to bash the Upperman girls because that would be flat out dumb with the team they have. Yesterday, the supporting cast around LaShay Davis was not that good. Trust me, I know that perceived "slow white girls" can play basketball because Milan and GC both had to deal with Obion Co. these past few years. Also, Amber Rechis is one of the best sophmores in the state. I think the game will be great tonight, but I hope Upperman isn't hoping Davis is going for almost 30 again with the two potential players that will guard her.

As a former Milan Student under Coach Paschall, I wish him luck in this game. However, Bradford cannot win this game (note I said this vs. Middleton so trying to keep the good luck going for Bradford lol). In seriousness, this is going to be a tougher test than Middleton. I saw that Clarkrange spanked Stone Memorial. I don't know the story behind it and don't know if Stone was healthy or not, but to beat Stone Memorial twice and to play Jackson Co. close, I think that shows they are a very good team. Bradford HAS to take care of the ball and not let them get back into it like they did vs. Middleton today. I think Paschall will get that in their head, and he will have them ready to play. Good luck Bradford and especially Coach Paschall. Also, good luck Gibson Co.! Those teams down in yalls bottom bracket are acting like you guys are easy. I think after they saw what Milan did today and what kind of players Milan has, they notice that Gibson Co. is every bit as good as Milan, if not better. Here's to a 6th classic battle on Saturday!

Once again, maybe I'm biased, but Upperman didn't impress me today. I think they are much like Bradford in that when you stop 1 player, in this case Davis, then you beat them. Does anyone think Davis can penetrate to the basket vs. Gray or Poston? If so, I think you need to look at what Gray did to the girl going to LSU vs. Hillcrest and look at what Chantel Poston did vs. Rooney when Coach Volbert put her on Rooney in the 2nd half. Maybe I just caught their supporting cast on a bad day, but I didn't see the athleticism on Upperman that some people said they had. BTW, Gray may have had one of the best state games in a long while. Creekwood played a Box and 1 to take Chantel out of the game, but Shaniqua scored about 23 points and maybe some of the sickest crossovers and passes that I've seen in a state game in a long time. Creekwood looked like they were playing vs. an SEC player because they were just straight-up baffled on how to handle Shaniqua when she was spinning through double teams and hitting layups. One of the most amazing performances I've seen, and I think she has a very bright future when schools start looking at her in JUCO.

I wish them well too because like you said they're in Gibson County. However, maybe I shouldn't judge the whole fan base on a couple of fans, but the ones I've ran into think they're back in the days with the Henson girls. Then they say, "Milan would get beat if they played Bradford again...." even though we took our starters when up by 22. Sorry to the sane Bradford fans, but being in Bradford a lot some people just rub me the wrong way when trying to analyze basketball lol

Bradford will not win this game.... For the person that said Bradford beat GC.... how in the heck can you base a state game to that early game vs. GC? If Bradford and GC played today, Bradford would lose by 20-30. Throughout the season, Butler has become a player that will be up for Ms. Basketball for the next 2 years, and that whole team has become amazing. If Bradford played in a tough district/region, then Middleton must have the easiest district/region in the whole state because Bradford played in a region where past good teams like Trenton, Gleason, West Carroll, etc... all had down years. I've seen everyone hyping up the Upperman-Stone Memorial game and the GC-Austin-East game, but is Creekwood any good and if so what are Milan's chances of beating them? Need some comments because I know nothing about Creekwood.

Good job on going to state, but I think it's just a trip because the State Championship separates the women from the girls. Not to hate on Bradford, but it was pretty much a cake walk for them to get to State. Trenton, West Carroll, Gleason, Dresden, etc... in the district and region were not that good this year. Like I said good luck, but it may be ugly vs. Middleton.
