  1. Congratulations, it couldnt happen to a finer young man. Bcb, you should be proud . All those years of hard work have paid off and hopefully will continue until February.
  2. Congradulations Ricky ! Keep up the hard work. I cant wait to see some of those seahawks use the patented top secret potato sack move that won you those state championships.
  3. Not only did he win but he did it in a most impressive fashion. Im just glad he knew more than his corner man Mike "Poncherello" Hatcher. The shouts of ,"run the half" and " cradle him, cradle him" probably werent of much help. On a serious note it was very interesting to see all of the Cleveland and Bradley faithful show up to support two of their own. There were also quite a few utc guys there to support Boskin. David Mang also fought in a very entertaining and hard fought battle against a pretty tough and experienced oppopnent. Twice I thought his arm would be snapped but he would not submitt.
  4. We wont need Bruce Buffer when we have sexynasinglet. Not only will he announce he can also do live commentary. You must not have been at the Soddy vs Red Bank girls match this year or you would agree. That Ned Beatty "Deliverance" squeel he does when the action gets going is first rate entertainment in itself.
  5. Im with you big guy. Cant be having people making comments about any of the boys. Thats 600 lbs of angry dads with you being 400 and me 200. We can get the Chigster or Chico sr and top 1000 lbs of fury. All joking aside I believe our dreadlock wearing friend is either in the 145 lb class or the parent of a 145 lber and doesnt like Jt being ranked higher than them. Ignore them and they will go away like little gnats. Here is my prediction and I stated this before the season. Jt should wrestle 145 because it helps the team and I also firmly believe he will be the state champ at that weight. I can see it now, down by 4 with 20 seconds left and bam! Ventriliquist, coach E style. Pin with :03 on the clock and state championship medal around the neck.
  6. I second that motion on the Ow award. I overheard a conversation about this topic afterwards and it was probably a very close vote. The consensus among those with votes was that the 130 lb class was loaded with 4-5 state champs. Westerman, Hayes, Hooker, Francis and I think another Ga state champ possibly.
  7. It was good seeing you this weekend and even better watching the boys have a very good weekend. I like that candy and nuts quote of yours, looks like there were many a good christmas spent in the Henry household. Now I know where that extra large frame of yours comes from. It was Candy and nuts all these years. Tell both the boys Im proud of them and ask Jt where that showmanship came from. He must have gotten that from coach E.
  8. There are viable points to both arguments. The bottom line is this. Wrestling suffers because of the rules in place. The solution is actually very simple. Hold the tournament together and keep seperate team standings. The kids get to wrestle each other and find out who the state champion is. The wrestlers get better by competing against the best. The fans get to see better matchups. There will be some coaches who would still not want to do it because they want as many of their kids to be champions as possible. That is also an understandable point of view but not neccesarily what is best for the sport as a whole. Then you have the argument that wrestling has to follow the same rules that football, basketball and the other sports follow. Thats also a simple fix. Change the rules. Allow each sport to determine its own guidelines based on what is the greater good for all those involved. Then you will have some coaches who will say the playing field is still not even due to finances and that some schools have better facilities, coaches and they recruit. The truth of the matter is that all top programs recruit in some form or another and some of the best coaching staffs and facilities happen to be in the public school division. As passionate and devoted as wrestling fans are all we have to do is direct our focus on making the needed changes or at least finding out what the greater # of people would prefer. Lets start a poll on here and see what the majority would like to see.
  9. Yes, Cash was very impressive in that loss. He also beat one of the top kids in the country from South Dade who bumped up a weight class.I forget to mention Walker Valley and how improved those guys are. coach Morris has done a tremendous job with buidling that program. I wouldnt be suprised with a top 10 finish in the traditional state this year.
  10. ha- Easy now big boy. Sexy is someone elses message board pal. If i broke up that message board friendship we would have to read their posts to themselves. I dont think they would get the hint that nobody is playing along. You are just upset I didnt have a shirt that would fit you this weekend. I thought B looked great from what little I got to see of him. Looks like things are going well for him. I guess coach is breaking him of all those bad habits he accumulated from the 12 coaches you have had him with. ( myself not included of course)
  11. What a great tournament! This was a true wrestling fans dream. Collins Hill vs South Dade lived up to its anticipated excitement. I would love to see those two go at it again. Coach Vic does a great job coaching to his kids athletic ability and its very entertaining to watch their un-orthodox style. Coach Phillips, tell Vic I didnt recongnize him from the junior college wrestling days without his rat tail and his tanning bed tan. Ha- Must be a Miami thing you and he had in common. Collins Hill was impressive as always. This match could have gone eaither way with some near pins from both sides. Throw in Cleveland, Soddy, McCallie, Father Ryan, Hoover,Thompson, Brentwood academy and Rome and their was an abundance of individual talent in that gym. Hats off to Cash from Brentwood Academy. He wrestled two of the top ranked kids in the country, beating one and losing in double overtime to the other. I was impressed with the group of McCallie youngsters as well. They will definitley be back in mix with the top teams in the south sooner rather than later.
  12. snack size cupcake continued his impressive performances. We only wrestled Heritage and did not wrestle against Lafayette's middle school. Little youth coach wrestled his 5th match of the season but the shoulder injury has flared back up and they are now saying possible surgery. He is trying to tough it out but he definatley not 100%. His first matches of the season were quick pins but the other night was a little tougher and he was obviously in some pain. He has only been able to practice hard one day the whole season.
  13. Coach Mike Hatcher and myself started a sports and apparel buisness. We also do heat pressed t-shirts at tournaments. Our schedule is almost full until April, so contact me soon. You can contact me at 423 580 2739
  14. I think that nobody has answered you because you seem a little hostile and have your own interpretation of the rules. The very first post of this topic is a copy of the rules. It clearly states an individual can tape a match as long as it's for personal use and not used for commercial gains. Bcb also posted that it is legal to tape anything you want and he should know. I'm not privy to the incident you are referring to but I can assure you a lot of parents do it and not just ones from a particular school. Look at the crowd when a stud is wrestling and you will see more than the two dad's dad taping. I can see understand your opinion on the moral issue. That is a decision each person must make but as long as it's in the rules that it is legal there is nothing that can be done about it. As far as the school administrators telling you to stop and or having you arrested that seems as though they would be overstepping their authority considerably. In fact if you will just pay attention to the media it is legal to tape anything you want as long as its on public property. If you were on a private schools campus then legally there might be an argument there as to whether they could make you stop taping or not. Now this ruling is Tssaa rules. The rules in Georgia may be different entirely.
  15. Where have u been? Im still waiting on those pictures you snapped the whole olphers season last year. Im not going to make some witty comment about the irony of you buying that nice digital camera but not knowing how to download them to the computer.
  16. I believe I might have heard that story about the Turkey baster .
  17. Thats not a bad group. It must be the influence of those 7 others coaches you didnt list that needs to be deprogramed
  18. nope, just changing venues. You should know all about that. At last count your boys have wrestled at every program in town at least once. I think if you are allowed to switch 13 times I should be allowed one change.
  19. We are currently looking for two coaches to take over established programs in the Harrison /Ooltewah areas. We can possibly combine the two clubs and wrestle out of one location. If anyone is interested or knows of someone please contact me. Thx
  20. I was at this tournament and was truly impressed with Cleveland. The level of commitment, intensity, parent support and coaches enthusiasm was truly impressive. Cleveland is only going to continue to get better and better.
  21. There are many factors involved and I could write a book on the pro's and cons of each. For many years the Chattanooga area had our own league that was independent of both Aau and Usa. Many of our more involved kids and coaches would wrestle in the Usa tournaments (mostly Georgia) Fci and Aau tournaments. We decided as a group to help unify Tennessee and make the state stronger. We researched both organizations and after reviewing all the facts, for our area the Aau was clearly the most beneficial organization for us to join. There are many dedicated and well intentioned people involved in both organizations. A lot of our kids still wrestle in both organizations and will continue to do so. I am also all for helping our national teams as I have several people whom I consider friends that wrestle internationally. If you follow the national message boards there is quite a bit of uncertainty right now within the usa ranks on a national level. Many of our wrestlers play various sports year round. This is very expensive ,especially in todays economy and we felt that gained more value for our $ with the Aau than Usa. Please look at the costs involved, insurance coverage, cost for holding tournaments, state team opportunities for the younger wrestlers, and # and location of participants in Tennessee and you will see why we made the choice for Aau. I will say that this was based soley on the younger age groups (middle school and below). I feel that from high school and above Usa wrestling has a lot to offer. I urge you to look at all the facts as we did before making a statement as you did in the above post. It may be in your best interest to choose the Usa organization just like it was for us to choose the Aau organization. Here are the year end figures for the 2007 Aau wrestling season. 26 tournaments held in Tennessee 2 national tournaments with over 500 wrestlers from 17 states 28 teams in the Elementary National Duals in Kingsport tournament. 3506 Aau wrestlers in 2007. The majority of which are below high school age.
  22. Our prayers go out to Darrel and his family. We are having to make some adjustments to the Chattanooga (south) regions schedule due to some conflicts with basketball and other tournaments. I hope to have a completed schedule in the next few days. It looks as though the middle school state duals will be held Jan 17th at Cleveland. We were hoping to hold it on jan 10th but this conflicts with several big tournaments. Please let all middle school coaches know about this tournament.
  23. stop the insanity... You know good and well Glc junior is zoned for the school in red if glc senior could get out of the long eared shadow. Glc, wake up.. Thats just a nickname he goes by. He cant get you into the playboy club no matter what he tells you. The only time he has ever left the round gym except for a wrestling match was when he ventured into Posey holler to retrieve his brother who was being held for ransom. That little foray cost him two shell necklaces and his favorite pink polo with a stand up collar. That tan I can assure is from a tanning bed and not the California sunshine.
  24. bcb, dont give in to chatts attempt at peer pressure. You just keep calling it like you see it. Chatt, you guys have brought in some serious talent in the younger ages and the rivalry should heat up in the upcoming years. I do not see it happening in the next couple of years though. I will also like bcb, continue to secretley cheer for the ex olphers even the ones who are supposed to now be the enemy. Now, in response to our favorite round mound of wrestling, sexyinasinglet. Where in the world are we going to find singlets big enough for you and chattwrestling for this fundraiser photo op? I also think you may need to call glc and check on him. He may be having some self esteem issues after being nominated with the rest of that group. I think he kind of pictures himself as a slighly older version of his shell necklace, pink shirt wearing wrestling hero that goes by the name of a long eared rodent.
