  1. But it is interesting you mentioned Rector. I'm not sure if this is true, but apparently Rector had been interested in Centennial for a long time. I also heard that he was interested the head coaching job the first time it opened up. I'm not sure if he would jump ship or not, but just a thought.
  2. This is interesting timing. This is something that Shrader and Lifsey have apparently decided on long ago and would let him finish out the season. It appears tthat they let him know early to ensure that nothing to lose mentality and give the players an extra motivational boost. However this could backfire, as it could turn out to be a bigger distraction than a boost.
  3. P.S. In response to the stats thing, remember stats don't tell the whole story. The New England Patriots are 5-1 without having a player in the top ten in any stat category. A Running Back can have 1,000 yards rushing during a season, but not perform well in clutch situations. My link to this is the way people talk about our defense. Against Brentwood, we only allowed 180 yards of total offense, but allowed 37 points. The reason, 24 of Brentwood's points came as a result of a turnover returned for a touchdown or a drive starting withing our 30. Last week, our defense allowed a little over 100 yards of total offense, but one botched play and a fuble recovered for a touchdown pushed Columbia's point total to 13. That game easily could have been a shutout. You could mention that Independence allowed 17 points against Franklin. However, it is important to note that they didn't allow any points in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th quarters. Stats do not matter during a football game, the only thing that matters is HOW your team plays.
  4. A lot of close battles in the standings with one week left. Anyone have final predictions for final 5A region standings?
  5. The only upset I could see is Ravenwood over Gallatin.
  6. sometimes we all forget a couples things 1) this is only high school football. theses kids range from 14-18 years of age, and talent they have at this age is incredible! 2) this being high school, heck any level of sport, ANYTHING can happen, at any given time!! we've seen it time and time again in college and pro football. take tennessee's year last year, no one could have predicted that!! look at the titians, sometimes there good, sometimes they stink!! my point is, this is a game, and from the time the teams step on the field, untill the clock runs out in the 4qtr, either one of these 2 teams have just as good a chance of wining as the other!! this will be my last post untill after the game, i hope ill be able to say i told you so, but if not, then congrats. will be in order. as for now best of luck to Franklin, hope to see you all at the game
  7. Not to mention the win last week going into the Franklin game this week, the fans will likely be back and louder than ever over there in those visiting bleachers at Gamble Stadium. 4 or 5 weeks ago, I poseted a thread complaining about Centennial's lack of School Spirit. We had more fans show up to the game at LaVergne than we had in our stands most of the game. After having 5 of our first six games on the road, we returned to CHS, where I have never seen a better turnout for a midseason game as far as students. The Student tunnel stretched from almost the fence to the goal line. When our players came out, we must have broken a decibal record. Clarence Hardison exclamed "I can tell you all want it" Ever since that game, the fans have been coming back and that close game vs. Brentwood and that win against Columbia have put a buzz back in the school. So win or lose, the fans are back and behind this team 100%
  8. We get no respect here. This is not the same Centennial team as earlier in the season and we actually have a solid chance to win this game.
  9. Remember Father Ryan? And that was against A lot better Franklin team. The only team to beat Franklin this year was Independence, a team with a balanced passing attack. Our 6-7 recievers kelly and harris should overcome their 5-10, 5-11 combo of dunford and anderson. If Centennial stays with a passing attack, as we've been doing the past few weeks, we have a very good chance.
  10. First off, I've been on here for 4 years (I used to be Preds). Second of all, I feel sorry for your sons: #1-The way you talk about something they gave heart and soul for 4 years of their lives, #2-Having you as a father in general We still here at Centennial actually take pride in our team. Go ahead and diss us, make yourself look big. We believe in our team.
  11. Remember, this still isn't the same Centennial team from earlier this year. Our offense is clciking, our defense is stepping up to make big plays, and we're for the most part injury free for the first time this season. We have a new gameplan, and it wouldn't hurt to say that CHS would make this interesting. If Coulumbia was winning the State Championship, Franklin will be winning the lottery and Heidi Klum.
  12. From what I've heard from Franklin fans, Sellers is a pretty good QB, but doesn't have that great of an arm. He's more of a Michael Vick typed guy if you know what I'm saying. A couple of fans would've prefered to put Nichols (any relation to Ryan?) at QB and let Sellers be a Reciever or a Defensive back. Also heard that they have a Junior with a pretty good arm that was benched earlier in the year.
  13. We got about 4 former Franklin players on our team who would love nothing more than to upstage their former team. Centennial is gonna play alot more agressive than Franklin and we should see some trick plays. I don't care if no one else in the world believes.... I BELIEVE
  14. Riverdale 49 Oakland 0 .....at halftime
  15. Towards the game at hand, Ravenwood has been playing amazing football the past few weeks. Without Rayburn, Dickson Co. didn't execute against Franklin. If Rayburn comes back, Dickson can make a game of it. It'll be close Ravenwood 14 Dickson Co. 13
  16. Region 6 is probally the strongest region in 5A, with five teams that could make serious runs in the playoffs. Franklin has emerged as the strongest of the group and should make a deep run. However, they have had some low spots (Loss to Independence, near loss to Dickson Co.) and although their defense could easily be considered one of the state's best, their offense hasn't been the same as in past seasons. And Franklin still has Centennial, who is playing their best football of the season (Even before the win vs. Columbia). The Rebels cannot afford to look ahead of this game. In short, Franklin will need some improvements to make a serious run towards state, especially against some tough Metro Conference teams.
  17. Like I said in the Dickson Co. post, Franklin would be taking a huge risk by playing their second string. Centennial's playing on an emotional high and we'll likely see some agressive play calling. This kind of play will be new to the younger players on the team and they might not be able to stop it. If I was Franklin, I would definitely not look past this game. Remember, a loss and a Dickson win would knock Franklin from the top of the region.
  18. This was definately an emotional win for us. It was great to see all the seniors pull out a win at home during senior night.
  19. The thing about Dickson is they have 2 great running backs. I'd let Rayburn sit and let that #1 carry the load. As for Franklin, they would be taking a HUGE risk by sitting out their first team. Centennial has been playing a lot better these past few weeks and are caarying an emotional high into Franklin. They're gonna play with nothing to lose and no that we have that first win, you're gonna see a lot more aggressive play calling. The veteran players on Franklin can prepare for that, but I'm not sure a JV team will be ready for that kind of aggressive attack.
  20. I will say one thing, CHS has got a lot of momentum. Not just from that win, but the last few weeks in general we've been playing better as a team. If the CHS offense can continue to click, this game might get interesting.
  21. I'd say if we trade for Todd Campbell and get Josh Frohock suspended for stealing hamburgers from the cafeteria, we might pull out a win.
  22. Actually, the starters stayed in for the entire game.
  23. If Indy and Ravenwood both lose one game, Indy will be 7-3 and Ravenwood would be 6-4 overall. I'm not exactly sure what the tiebreaker is (Being a Centennial fan, really didn't have to worry about it) but If going by records, Indy would get the spot. If its head to head, tthen Ravenwood would get the spot. I thought this was like college and the tiebreak was settled by overall records.
