  1. Man, you don't even know. I got to help out a little in the spring and got to know the program a little better. I've talked with coach trapp after every game this year and still feel a part of Tigers Football. I'm 2.5 hours away plus timezone change but still rooting you guys on. Tell Payne congrats on the golf state title for me.
  2. Not saying CC can win the ball. Actually I don't expect any teams in region 4 to be left after the first round, but they could beat smith. not saying they will, but they could.
  3. Let's not forget good ole Livingston in 2005. 5-5 going into the playoffs, lost their last 2 games, what happened to them...a nice little ball on Dec 3 was handed to them. They weren't supposed to be good, but they somehow worked together. They haven't been worth half of dirt on a third of a penny since then, but they were 5-5. Maybe a past winning tradition had something to do with that who knows.
  4. maybe so, maybe not. I'll never tell /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  5. Just wanted to prove you wrong on this statement. Let's take Dekalb for example 2001 1-9 2002 1-9 2003 3-7 2004 3-7 2005 0-10 2006 1-9 2007 2-8 2008 7-2 I think a team can (in HS) overhaul in a season. Just because it doesn't happen often doesn't mean it don't. It could be different than the past 10 years, I don't think it will, but it could. /sleep.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="-_-" border="0" alt="sleep.gif" />
  6. I can agree on that one. According to like teams played (York, Westy, Jackson, and Upperman) both CC and SC scored an average of 25. SC only allowed 12 and CC allowed 16. The math says SC wins 21-19. I don't know if CC can stop an offense that is as balanced as SC's. They can stop the run (Westmoreland) they can stop the pass (Upperman) but so far haven't had good luck with balance (DeKalb) when they gave up 18-24 passing for 248 yds and 27 rushes for 216 yds. Will be interesting with playoff emotions on CC side (over 7 year drought) and Senior night emotions mainly on SC side. How many seniors does the owls have?
  7. Is there a game this week? Haven't heard much about it.
  8. All right, is your arguement that Cannon has only beaten teams with losing records? Let's look at Smith's W's: Livingston (1-8) Gordonsville (3-6) Jackson Co (3-6) Macon Co (1-8) Upperman (3-5) Westmoe (8-1) Franklin (2-6) I guess you're right, Smith has beaten one more team with a winning record than Cannon. Is Westy the one and only signature win that you are referring to?
  9. My bad, here's an idea, maybe they should all play teams from KY in week 11 like upperman.
  10. I think Upperman is tired of getting smacked around and will want to end the season returning the favor to someone. York will be in the playoffs and the bees are playing for pride (kind of like the cookeville scrimmage). The dragons will be resting a few to get them healthy and the bees are out for blood. Thinking Bee Thinking Bee! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  11. I agree that Cannon will want it more. SC will play like it's the same ole Lionettes coming and will get shocked early. However, Maynord will wake up the troops and get them focused just enough to pull this one out. I'd say this will be closer than what everyone thinks but not a surprise in the outcome with SC going to the playoffs and cannon playing another bowl game. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  12. I'd say both corners are 6-1 or 6-2 maybe, neither are extremely fast (can't give you times because they run their 40's in the grass which really isn't the same as pavement). DC's strentgth comes from blitzes from all over by their 5 LB's. If they don't get pressure, the db's get beat. If they do get pressure, well Poteete had a 40 yd int last week. Should be good, lots of talent, a lot at stake, bring on the popcorn. wait for it. wait for it. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> there you go.
  13. So far it isn't play action that's killing the Tigers, it's straight up fades. When you run a man coverage the entire game you're going to get beat some. WH and UHS figured this out quick and made a lot of big plays. If Sycamore has fast rec. (4.9 or better) this will be a high scoring affair, because let's face it one player or not, no one has stopped DC yet.
  14. The tale of the tape. Sycamore: 5-3..........opponents record 23-41.............Avg score per game 21-16 Dekalb: 6-2................opponents record 31-33............Avg score per game 39-28 Averaging their scores made v. allowed. DC comes out winning this one 28-25. Does Strength of schedule play a part? Is Sycamore happy with just making the playoffs? Can DC's secondary learn to cover the fade that has haunted them the past two games? Can Sycamore play as hard as they did against SC and WH? Can the Tigers bounce back from a disappointing loss to WH? A lot of interesting questions need answering and all will be revealed on Friday. Very good game I sense in Middle TN. I'll go with the math and say DC 28-25. What a guess /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  15. Is it just me or does anyone else read Whoppers posts with the voice of Yoda /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  16. I know that Dekalb didn't run a zone. They can't. It isn't anywhere in the playbook and doesn't exist. I helped put the DC secondary together and they run cover 1 and cover 0 with a ton of blitzes by everyone on the field and that's it. Do you know what a cover 1 and cover 0 are? Probably not. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Anyway, back to Upperman and Cannon, Upperman made a couple of huge 3rd and 4th and longs by throwing fades. That won't happen against Cannon's zone. Upperman won't go for 4th down's in this one. The Westmoreland-Cannon and Westmoreland-Upperman games are good one's to look at for comparison. Westmoreland runs just as efficiently as Cannon and the Bees had a hard time stopping it, wait, they didn't. Will be a good game, Cannon could win, but I think Upperman will just score too quick. But as far as playoffs go, 4th place don't automatically go anymore and the schedule just isn't there for the U. Looks like they'll be playing at home with the KY team that they'll kill. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Good luck to both teams, but the U wins this one.
  17. Saw WH play on CSS the other night and look really good. Can run the ball very well and have a great line. Should be really interesting defensively. DC runs a 3-5 to stop the spread (which WH doesn't run) and WH runs a 50 to stop the run (which DC doesn't do). Hmmm. DC can score fast. And as far as a "muffin" schedule goes, the teams WH has played has a combined record of 19-30 (with 12 of those 19 coming from Alcoa and Beech who are both really good). DC will want to win this being their last home game of an amazing year. Going to say that after two virtual off weeks, WH will be a little rusty at first and give up a few big plays and then will come back in the second half quick. Going to do the prediction mathemaitcally. On the year DC 39 opponents 26, WH 32 - oponents 16. Take that and Average...WH 29 DC 28. Whew, what a game this could be. Love to be able to watch. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  18. This will be really close. DC's defensive philosophy is blitz-man2man. Their corners are on an island and one kept getting burnt against UHS. Cannon will run more zone coverage. DC and Upperman run about the same offense, but defenses are extremely different and Up's D isn't as good (they controlled the ball a lot longer than DC but gave up 40 pts). Cannon has a good shot at winning and the added homecoming/senior nigh atmosphere could add a lot. I'd say Upperman's D steps up in the 4th and pulls it out 27-20 /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Wish I could be there to watch, should be good.
  19. If they are going to try to play straight up D against DC it's going to be a loooong night. After Upperman I went to DC. I was there at UHS a couple years ago and they were supposed to and should have been amazing this year (4 yr qb, 4 yr wr, a rb running a 4.4 40, etc), but they haven't gotten anywhere. The reason they ran Madden plays last year was because the sorry 5-3 defense (that Foster was forced to run) wasn't working at all and Foster had to come up with something, anything, and it cost him. DC is now where UHS should have been last year. Good kids at UHS but bad decisions by the staff. They could be dominating, but look at the record. I'd stay with my prediction of 42-6 unless the Bees run a straight basic defense, then I'd give DC a 56-6 adv. could be ugly and mercy rule might come in to play like it did against Cannon.
  20. A fire zone is a zone secondary coverage with a lineman dropping to cover a short pass and the LB takes his place in a blitz. It confuses linemen and the idea is the LB comes through untouched. And you call yourselves football fans /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  21. DC is really impressive this year, exp. the QB. 91-165 doesn't look too good but his yds per completion is 17.6 and his yds per attempt is 9.7. I'd say Upperman is going to run a fire zone package and Poteete won't throw as much but will kill them on the ground. I don't think DC will score too much since they'll be running more and the clock will keep running. The prediction...DC 42 UHS 6 (2 field goals) /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  22. Let's see, a team built soley on the pass threw only 12 times with a 4 year starter as qb for 65 yds and didn't throw in the second half while West moe threw for -6 yds. hmmm, i'm sure it was sunny and 75 /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  23. Cannons D? Westmoreland is a one dimensional team...they can't throw and haven't played anyone who can except for Upperman when it was a monsoon!! Cannon is 26th in 2A with losses to York (who's really good), Wesmoreland, and the powerhouse juggernaut known as Sequatchie. Their only win came against FRA whose only win was Grace Baptist. Come on. DC lost to SC who's been beaten twice (Beech #1 in 4A and Hendersonville who's only loss was Beech and is in the top 20 in 5A). Going by the looks of things, this one should be over at halftime. The only thing that is iffy is the DC kicking game. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  24. Just for the record, Dekalb won 2 games last year (Upperman 31-10 and Macon 33-23). They could have won a few more close ones, but inexpirence kept them from holding on. Dekalb scrimmaged Shelbyville and beat them pretty handily by I think four tds. This isn't to praise Dekalb, but to give you guys hope. DCHS has been kicked around for a few years and had to rebuild. Warren Co is a good place to be and has good programs there. It will just take a little time, but support the coach, staff and players and in time good things will start happening in WC
  25. Look, Ty is the best qb in the region as far as stats and mechanics go. So what if the team's not first in the region. One of the best if not the best running back in the NFL in the 90's was Barry Sanders. But do we dismiss him because his team stunk, no. Last year Ty was 80% at best after 2 ACL surgeries. He throws accurately and quickly with his feet constantly moving and his elbows up which is what a good qb does in the gun. He won't fit in at Navy because of the difference in the systems, however, I think they will want him for defense at strong safety. He would be a great addition to the program at Vandy as qb or Navy at SS. But honestly no one has the right to say that a kid is the best qb in the state or not until they have a qb challenge. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. I understand that Smith Co. fans feel that they are gods and nobody else compares, but come on. Upperman doesn't have the best team in the state or even their conference. The coaches are halfway crazy with what they did last year (leading running back for the team never started and runs a good 4.5 40, ran 5-3 defense, cussing at players to try to motivate them, have 13 coaches on staff, etc) but none of that has anything to do with the high quality player that Ty is. Stop trashing and appreciate good players when you see them. The team isn't good enough to pay to watch, but Ty makes up for it.
