  1. IMO.... AAA Disrtict 4. Maryville Farragut Bearden Knox. West William Blount Knox. Catholic Lenoir City Heritage or......AAA District 11. Centennial Brentwood Hillsboro Franklin Ravenwood Independence or perhaps....AAA District 16. Melrose Memphis Central Memphis Overton Memphis East HamiltonMitchell White Station Whitehaven. What say the rest of you? And what in the heck is the AD at Catholic thinking? Football will be fine in that group, but the rest of those Catholic teams are going to have a tough time. Basketball vs. Bearden. Baseball vs. Farragut. Soccer vs. either of those two.
  2. Thanks Russell. This was a great event last year. Well worth the time to check out practices. Watched some outstanding kids last year go one-on-one. Montori Hughes, Hightower, Cobb, Spurlock, Wilkes, Douglas, and a probably another 30 or so D1 kids. Game was nice to watch, but the East team got after it in practice. ruse?
  3. Choakonaloaf. No problem. This whole site is for opinions. The bagpipe lady and I were actually an item at one time. I can tell you that she skipped the "waffle" and ate the house. I still like AC. More experience, and overall more talent. Again, that's just my opinon. Anderson County should win this game. One thing I did not mention would be the special teams. Catholic has had some trouble over the years covering kicks. Don't know if that is a distance, hang time, staying in the lanes/angles/coverage or what? I believe the AE playoff loss last year was in part due to that. Anyway, should be a good game, but I'm gonna go see the AE & Kingston knock heads. ruse?
  4. nakedhogan. I'll respond in order. I have no idea, about stats; however, I will say with much certainty that no team ran the ball well against Kingston. 1st year QB in the playoffs, and the first game was probably a "Mercy" rule. Hasn't played a real one yet. Don't know about KC's WR blocking ability, but I'll say that if they can't or won't, Pemberton will not play them. FWIW, they have to throw it to catch it. AC's WRs' are very good. The Blakley or Blakely or whatever his name is did not play against you last time. His averages are well above 8 per carry. Nearly double that. AC does have talent, and experience. Sometimes that does not equate to victory. Catholic won the first game. On the other hand, last year's Catholic team was easily the most talented team (even with the injuries), and still got bounced by AE. Catholic is 11-0 because of hard work, good coaching, tough play, and.....luck. AC is 8-3 because of much of the same, and perhaps the luck tipped the other way. The question was "who do I think should win the game?" The answer to me is AC. Just like last year when I said Catholic should beat AE, or the year before that when I thought Catholic would beat Fulton because they beat them by 2-3 TDs in the regular season, or the year before that when Catholic beat Fulton in the playoffs after Fulton had detroyed them by 4 TDs in the regular season. ruse?
  5. Max3388. Will do; however, only as a tribute to the long lost one "Leonard" from the Original Unapproved Website. "Who has a set?" "Rasta Pits." You know, I am going to miss 2-3A set up the way it is. Looks like AE and Fulton will continue based on what I read over on KNS. Based on what I saw over on the Tennessean, with the way Lipscomb got slotted, I would not be surprised at all if Catholic gets a double bump up to 5A, and they wind up in the Farragut, Bearden, Maryville Disrtict. For the old fan like me, that would actually be great to see. Good ball if it happens. Who knows. AC & Catholic? AC should win, and here are some reasons why. 1st, Catholic has been starting 3 or 4 Sophomore on the OL, and 4 or 5 Sophomores on defense. AC has Seniors in most spots on the OL/DL. Advantage AC because of the upperclassman up front. Older, stronger, and much more experienced. 2nd, AC has, IMO, the most under-rated QB in the area in Longmire who is a true dual threat QB, a Senior, and has played in a boatload of big games. Catholic has a QB who is a 1st year starter, who in some people's opinion doesn't throw it. Advantage AC. AC has a legitimate WR, and legitimate slot receiver who is also the KR/PR. He is fast and shifty. The WR is tall, athletic, fast, and can jump out of the gym. Catholic doesn't throw it. Advantage AC. AC also has the upper hand at the LB/FB spots with Coleman. AC has a new RB who according to the stats on KNS is averaging 14 or so yards per carry, and has something like 300 yds in the 3 games he has played in. Then they also have the Rogers kid who has been starting there since his Sophomore year. Advantage AC. Catholic can win. Obviously, as they have beaten them this year; however, the question was who should. IMO, AC has the best blend of experience and talent in the region, and should win. ruse?
  6. Gangs all here. It's just not the same with Road2Three, and 4MySister...Photo. Rasta pits B-Ball. Good to see you are well HH-22. ruse?
  7. Very, very talented. They are without question the most talented team in 2-3A. Three or four D1 level kids. DJ Roberts is a OL/DL playing as well as any defensive lineman in East TN. They have another DE, 6-4, 245 or so, that runs like a deer. Just suited up around the 7th game. The Twins are special. Anothe Anderson in the pipeline. The Dean kid is becoming a very dangerous dual threat QB. The kid can move, and has wiggle. AC, best blend of talent and experience in 2-3A. Longmire is the most under-rated QB in the area. Two very good RBs in Rogers and Blakley. Fullback/LB Chad Coleman is good as well. Wilson and Young are two very good receivers. Very fast, and athletic. As always, big, tough, strong up front. Kingston may just be the Livingston Acad. of 2008. Vic king is the most under-rated coach in East TN. James Sams is the the hardest runner in the region. Their QB is young, but smart, and heady. They have a OL/DL by the name of Stout who is right there with Roberts at AE. Catholic is a team I picked 3rd or 4th in the region this year because of their youth. They have started 3 or 4 Soph OL all year, and 5 Sophs on D. They lost Tait, and the their All-State RB, Vann in the first game. I don't get it, but they are what they are. I don't think it's so much that Catholic choakes at all. They have to beat a team twice every year because of the strength of the region. Same thing happened between AE and Fulton before Catholic joined the region. AE would usually beat Fulton early, and then Fulton would return the favor. Or visa-verse. IMO, AE should beat Kingston, and AC should beat Catholic because of the talent that AE has, and because of the blend of talent and boat load of Seniors that AC has. I'll take SR OL/DL over Soph OL/DL evry time. ruse?
  8. Let's start it again for 2010. The 2009 Thread seems to have run it's course with some of the 2010 kids being mentioned as time has gone on. How about everybodys' thought on Top 3s' by position: WR A. B. C. TE A. B. C. OT A. B. C. OG A. B. C. Center A. B. C. RB. A. B. C. FB. A. B. C. Well if you have to... QBs, but they get enough pub. A. B. C. CB A. B. C. SS/FS A. B. C. ILB A. B. C. OLB A. B. C. DE A. B. C. DT A. B. C. NT It is the age of the 3-4 after all. A. B. C. I guess we better do a K/P. P A. B. C. K. A. B. C. Fire away girls.
  9. Appropriate, and done the right way. May god bless all concerned. BTW Photo. It's the pits. ruse?
  10. Kingston is the real deal. I've written that for some time now. Vic King knows what he's doing, and the kids are bought in to the style of play. They tackle well one-on-one, come off the ball well on offense, and have soem very good athletes. Are they the Livingston Acad. of 08? Time will tell. Turtle, I'll tell you this much though. If Kingston takes away the big play from AE, Kingston will win. Book it. BTW, this is how the standings will look, IMO. 1. Catholic. 2. Winner AE/Kingston. 3. Loser AE/Kingston. 4. AC. ruse?
  11. tennvolsfan27. With all due respect, Fulton is and has been one of the classier programs in the area for a long time. Don't take all this "back and forth" too seriously. Coatney does a fine job, and Coach Black is as fine of a man as you would want leading young men. Now I have certainly disagreed with some of the actions of individuals on the teams (including coaches) of both schools over the years, but to suggest that both are classless teams might be a little short-sighted or perhaps, without historical perspective. Guys like Photo, Tadvols, Irish, HappyHour 22, Road2Three, Booreley, Turtle, etc have been around a lot of football programs; good and bad. However, there are no adminstrators, coaches, and probably players for that matter that go out on a friday night, and purposefully behave without class. Let's just keep it above the belt, and appreciate the effort that goes into making this a true rivalry here in Knoxville. ruse?
  12. How sweet Photo. I would love to. Tadvols, IMO, and it is just that, an opinion, I do think that AE has more talent this year than Fulton. Further, I also have said that AE has the most talent in the region, that AC has the best combination of experience and talent, and that Catholic was entirely too young this year to amount to much more than a "potential" playoff team. I also told Tyner folks that Kingston just might wind up being the Livingston Acad. of 2008 Time will tell about Kingston; however, I think they are fully capable of beating Catholic not only once, but twice. Yeah, Catholic had a bunch of injuries last year, but Kingston stoned them. Period. Kingston has all those kids back. They did the same to AE last year. They can do it to both squads. Catholic is for sure better than I thought they were going to be. AE has been a disappointment. Sorry Turtle. Really am. No offense intended. I hope they do improve, and find a way on offense to do the little things that will help them play the way they did last week as opposed to the way they played against LA. Also, do not count Fulton out. The Falcons have lost to Catholic late in the season the last two years, made the playoffs, and won the Gold Ball in 06, and represented the region well in 07. The only advice I have for AE is to let the talking be done on the field, don't dance on Fulton's sideline, etc. Every year we go through this hard lesson. ruse?
  13. Max Wazoo is in the Mid-state this week doing Smyrna-Riverdale, which has lost some of it's appeal this year, and was probably lined up over this past summer. PrepXtra WVLT TV game is BGA @ Webb which should be pretty good. Have yet to see your Irish in person this year, and might just do it this week. Rain, sitting, cold, old, usually equals hemmorhoids for a man of my age though. We'll see, maybe I can break out with the Depends. Oh, and Max, FWIW, I did tell folks from Tyner earlier this year that Kingston could wind up being like Livingston was back in 05 or so. Good team. In fact, I would wager, no matter the outcome, they might run into each other in about 3 weeks. ruse?
  14. Gangs all here again. TadVols, did some sniffing around. Sanders kid, the kicker transferred in from Stone when the budget fiasco had those kids sitting through the 1st 2 games. Apparently, he physically moved to Knoxville, no sitting. Hood kid has been living in Knox for last 4-5 years. The ones that sting the public schools are Harrison Smith (Notre Dame) Conner Irwin (Duke), Dustin Tait (Buffalo), Zak Tait (Wherever he chooses) all Bearden kids. Now you could say the same for Aaron Douglas (UT) who moved to Mville from Farragut, Brent Burnette (MTSU), moved from Anderson Co, to Mville. Brian Sommers (UTM) Karns to Alcoa. Kyrus Lanxter (KY) moved from Bearden to Alcoa. To be fair the Coulter kid who is a D1 prospect, and Smith were Catholic feeder kids all the way through. But could you imagine how good Bearden would have been with H. Smith, Tait/Tait, Lanxter, and oh.. the Andew Kirkpatrick kid who started at LB for 2-3 yrs at OR? He was a Bearden kid through youth ball, as was Antonio Hammilton at Fulton, and on, and on. As far as Catholic vs. Kingston, I have been on the Vic King bandwagon for a good 2 years now. He has those kids understanding the Wing T, they tackle really well, and they have some good skill guys. Have a DL, by the name of Stout that is just that, and the Sams kid is a beast. I think Kingston plays better at home. Game is at Catholic. I do like how many seniors Kingston has this year, and think that will be a big advantage over Catholic. They have 4 soph OL, and 4-5 sophs starting on D. I too, like Turtle feel that Kingston might be the more "hungry" team, and that it might actually do Catholic some good to lose? Who knows? Too early to pick it. Catholic has a website that the Max whatever comes after that guy has linked to before. I don't know how to link. Its knoxcatholicfootball.com they do a preview of opponents. Pretty good stuff. ruse?
  15. Opoku-Darkwa will be top 5 in-state in 2010. Really thought he was 2010.
  16. Welcome back Road. Bio-Chem? Hang in bud, you'll be fine. 21-3 @ 1/2. Ouch. Funny thing is though, Falcons destroyed Catholic when you were a SO maybe? Then it was Catholic who knocked Fulton out in the Quarters. That was LA's year, I think. Good to see you back. Don't be a stranger. ruse?
  17. Will do. With the difference in time zones...I'll shoot it your way tomorrow. Gonna watch Spurlock. Another slow play, as some might say /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" ruse?
  18. Come on BC, and Painted. When in the past have I written in Shenaniganeeze? A few years back (early 2006 I think) when Rankin came in, I had heard that Alcoa would be scrimmaging with Catholic in a spring game. Made plenty of sense to me as Rankin & Pemberton are from the same coaching tree, worked together previously, had some new guys they wanted to test, etc. So I find out the game is at Catholic, head that way, and am looking forward to watching Cobb to Sommer, Lanxter. Hicks, Sykes on D, etc. On the other side, H. Smith, Tait, etc. As it turned out, Smith was out, as was Sykes. Cobb was good, as was Sommer, and Tait was very good for Catholic. Hicks, and Lanxter were running track, as were Catholic kids playing baseball, I believe. From what I understand, Rankin, and Pemberton both wanted, and or still want to do it. I think they could care less about the gate. I have no idea why the Admin people can't get it together. As far as matching up, I think it would be a close game. Don't think either team would be intimmidated based on how they got after it in a scrimmage. According to CoachT Catholic has played, Morristown West, Austin East, Webb, Anderson County, Livingston Acad, Stone Mem. Oh, and Baylor. Now Baylor has good talent. Pretty sure 2 of their more recent grads start at UT. Catholic, at least this year has not played Wartburg, Seqoyah, or Smith Co. So they played a couple of lesser team that are in their region....not unlike Alcoa.
  19. Biggun. Yes, I've seen him. He will be a top flight prospect....if he improves his technique, and lower body flexibility. He is a legit 6-6, has a great frame, lean, not fat. Good straight away speed as well. Athletic kid. Nice feet. He reminded me of Chad clifton at about the same stage. I believe he went to the camp that was later in the summer, July. he ran with the Jrs, and clearly stood out in the drills. I did not see or hear from my birdies what he looked like in one-on-ones. You should get your stuff to orangeblur. He does nice work, and seems very focused on 2011, and 2012 kids. ruse?
  20. orangeblur. I am aware of this. The date of the post which you quoted/replied to was dated June, 2007. The thread sort of just comes, and goes, and comes back. ruse?
