  1. To go further with your recruiting discussion, I know in the Memphis area, most public high schools recruit the middle schools. When a kid comes out of 8th grade, he can basically go to any city school for high school, provided they have space and he can get to and from school. They may even require him to have the desire to take classes that his local school doesn't offer. Ususally those things get worked out somehow. So 'recruiting' does happen in public schools as well, its just not as publicized becuase there aren't thousands of dollars involved.
  2. Just an update to your list of coaches in attendance: Oliver Purnell - Clemson head coach Kevin Stallings - Vandy head coach Pepperdine coaching staff Also, Mike Miller - Memphis Grizzlies
  3. Based on your statement - you must think that DII AAA has a lot more teams and isn't a joke. What leads you to that conclusion? Having more teams makes it not a joke? How many more teams does DII AAA have? Who pulled your chain anyway?
  4. I completely agree. I'm just wondering how TSSAA will determine what constitutes playing on a 'team'. There are a lot of clubs that train different teams together and if they limit that ability, there will be a great uproar. Working younger age groups with older age groups is how many clubs and teams base their training. There are just so many details and subtle nuances of what a team is, I don't know how it will work in actual practice. Is this a rule that has already passed or is it in the discussion stages with TSSAA?
  5. Thanks for the update. I wonder how the non-school year participation will be enforced? There are many ways to roster players within TSSA and US Club Soccer that could leave the door open to broad interpretation what really makes up a non-school year 'team'. Many times players of different ages are rostered to an entire club and play between 'teams' during the season. Does playing in 1 game with a team break the rule? Someone with a little creativity can probably easily skirt the TSSAA rule and still put together the off-season 'team' with more than 6 players. This rule will be interesting to say the least.
  6. I would like to see all the soccer related information that you can provide. Thanks.
  7. A similar thing happened a few years ago with the Collierville HS boys team. They were playing Houston in the sectional finals the year that Houston went undefeated and won the 'national championship'. Collierville was up by a goal in the 2nd overtime and the referees allowed more than 10 minutes of EXTRA time in the 2nd overtime and Houston ended up with 2 goals and went on to finish the season undefeated winning the state championship. The Collierville players and coaches lost it after the game and due to their actions were suspended from the next season's post season. They did punish the entire team for that incident.
  8. Who are some of the college head coaches that will be there (or who have been there in the past)?
  9. You need to take a deep breath before you post next time. To call someone a "total loser" is way out of line. Dodd may not fit your idea of a football coach, but to to attack someone personally is completely uncalled for on a message board like this. I personally know Coach Gengenbach and Coach Powers and both are fine men. I know you are embarassed to be associated with Briarcrest, but you need to take your personal attacks somewhere else. FYI - his leaving St. George's had nothing to do with the football team.
  10. That's the question that I have - Since the girls HS season is complete before club soccer can start anyway, by just not signing any 'official' club paperwork until after the season would prevent the TSSAA from associating a player with any club. Most club registration is official in August, so by just waiting to become offcially affiliated with a club until after the HS season would make this rule very difficult to enforce. As for boys soccer, that's a different story since the boys club season precedes the HS season.
  11. Final Score ECS 5 St. George's 0 Halftime score ECS 1 St. George's 0 ECS scored 4 goals in a 5 minute span early in the 2nd half to put the game away. Thursday's games @ Briarcrest St. George's v Hutchison - 3rd place game ECS v St. Agnes - Championship game
  12. I wasn't at the game, but from what I have heard Briarcrest was up 1-0 until less than 10 minutes left in 2nd half. ECS scored both of their goals late in the game.
  13. From Monday's first round St. Agnes 9 - Harding 0 St. George's 1 - St. Mary's 0 ECS 2 - Briarcrest 1 I'm trying to find the St. Benedict - Hutchison score. Today's games 5:30 St. Agnes v. St. Benedict/Hutchison 7:30 St. George's v. ECS
  14. I believe you've 'guessed' wrong on the D2 BGA opponent. There's another soccer team to contend with in the D2 West - St. George's (Collierville). They finished in 3rd place behind St. Agnes & ECS. They beat Hutchison, Briarcrest, St. Benedict and tied St. Mary's. Finishing with a 5-2-1 record in the region. Overall record 9-3-3. Only 3 starters graduate this year, so they should be a contender next year as well.
  15. D2 West 1. St. Agnes (Harding and Lausanne will play a play-in game to face SAA) 2. ECS (plays BC) 3. St. George's (plays St. Mary's) 4. Hutchison (plays St. Benedict) 5. St. Benedict 6. St. Mary's 7. Briarcrest 8. Harding 9. Lausanne 10. IC (out) Games played next Mon, Tue (Semi) & Thu (Final & 3rd place)
  16. This year 3rd place in the West will be St. George's (Collierville). They have a region record of 5-2-1. The 2 losses to St. Agnes and ECS. They beat Hutchison 1-0 a few weeks ago. The tournament still has to be played, but during the regular season St. George's has a 5-2-1 record and Hutchison has a 4-3-1 record. Both teams have a tie with St. Mary's (3-3-2).
