  1. Well, Well, after all this you still did not give me a specific reason, relative to South football, why practices should be closed. Furthermore, I've gone through every one of the football coaches' names and I can't come up with one that I would not want mentoring my son. Why all worry? I'm not--I thought you were. Oh, well, I'm done with this. See you at practice in the spring--haha. But, you go ahead to the school board, the AD, the Supt., the Governer and to Obama, if you like. I don't like the new Health Care System, or the gun control, nor keeping me from practice. Yelp, I go just about anywhere I want, at least while I can, until football Nazis like you have your way. --Hey, man, calm down--just trying to have fun, don't take it serious.
  2. Well, if South is still a high school in several years, you'll be fortunate to have this group of coaches coach your "relatives". Your contribution to South more than mine---I seriously doubt it. Closed Practice--Why?? Tell us why. What are the legitimate reasons (related to South) that practices should be closed??? I don't feel a need to be there, I simply enjoy watching boys practice and play football. I go to South; I go to Col.Hts, and I go to Optimist practices--to watch FOOTBALL. Adrenaline is in the air, kids are learning character, they are around great "life mentors" and there's no better place to be. I love FOOTBALL. Also, I pay taxes. Why does it pain me? Because you suggested that those dads were there making inroads with coaches--that pains me. Coach in front of name?? Sort of like Mr.--My Mom taught me at an early age to respect those who give their time for a cause---for the large amt of time they spend, for the small amt of money they bring home, for the time away from kids, yes I'll cut them alot of slack. I, like alot of people, believe that these coaches have their heart in it. Maybe there are a few who are not the best football minds that have ever coached, but all in all, they all bring certain strengths to the group that makes them effective as a group. Evaluation?? I have no problem with evaluations. I'm evaluated every day in my job--no problem. But I don't want "you" telling my employer that I need to be evaluated. Personally, I don't think the school system needs my (or your) suggestions on how to better evaluate personnel. I'm just saying----- Oh, and as for respect on here----some of us try. I used to respect most of what you posted, but now if you don't think that's important, just tell me. You can try---come on--we're looking for a FEW GOOD MEN
  3. Now that the season is over, I will ask the South AD and administration to take an in depth at the coaching situation at South. They need to interview, at least, all the seniors to get a true grasp of what's happening. I would also like to see them ban all daddys, fans, groupies and lingerers from the practice field and locker room area in the future. These young Rebels and future Rebels deserve nothing but the very best from coaching professionals who are fair and care about the well being of the players, first and foremost. You seem to be very sensitive to "daddies" being at practice and around the locker room, so I'll comment on this. One would 1st suspect that your rants are born by lack of playing time for your son or some disgruntlement on your part. O.K., well lets assume that this is not the case. Assuming that this is not the case, then you are legitimately offering concern because uh,uh,uh---well, what??? Are you implying that "daddies" have input in their son's field time? Or what plays they run?? Or who does or does not get Cleanup Duty?? or who rides Bus 1 vs Bus 2???? Or who gets 2 Beef Jerkys and who gets 3?? Or who gets a bag with his number painted on it or who does not?? Or whether or not they get Fruit Salad??? What about the Dad who fixes the air conditioner and pays for it out of his pocket? Do you actually think the coaches reward him with playing time for his son? What about the dads who paint the field or the parents who provide and serve Pre-game Meals? Do you think they get special treatment for their sons? There's alot of good things going on at South and it does not happen with parents and supporters sitting at home on their keisters watching Two and a-half Men. I've been at a half dozen, at most, practices and I witness faithful fathers (supporters of the team) watching and talking football. Not once did I see any person, father or fan, trying to influence a coach regarding playing time, position, or anything. Are you kidding me???? Why don't you give your time and efforts to supporting South, rather than pointing fingers to some ridiculous fictitious claim. These coaches give their best and care for these kids without reservation. If you know someone who is not getting the playing time that they "deserve", then maybe they are not giving the effort in practice that the coaches deserve. Why don't you go up to the field in the spring and offer your coaching advice, as I'm sure you have all the answers. I think you lost some respect with this one.
  4. I haven't read all the previous posts, and this may have already been said, but you can find some stats (leaders in passing, receiving, tackles, int's, etc.), on unapproved website----just google, select your state, select your category. When you see the rankings (#1, #2, etc.), you can click on the name of the kid and see his individual stats for all categories. Does not include 40 time, bench, etc., or GPA.
  5. Could someone from Catholic bring me up to speed on Cody Shirley?? I heard his is/was injured. To what degree?? I heard he committed to VMI??????
  6. Crawdad, you are a freakin genious. I'm about ready to let the wampus-cat out of the cage. Look out!! Look out!! The wampus-cat is about to be released.
  7. Hey, Craw. I have been very happy with the support of the Rebel Nation this year. Even though some of our games have not had the numbers of the past 3-4 years, we have traveled well and we are loud. One thing about this team that has been extremely interesting to watch is how some of them have matured and grown. We all knew that Nick Solt and Haden and Hyder would be solid performers and leaders, but to see Harmon, Chappel, Shanks, Wilky, and now Steffey step to the front is exciting. Hubbard, for whom it took a game or two to mature, is now, I believe, at his best and is looked upon by his underclassmen as a Leader on the team. Congratulations to a bunch of boys who could have laid down, but have chosen to come together and fight. You are fun to watch. Keep the focus and the intensity.
  8. Bye, Bye, youngster, go get your books and try to study up on your freshman English. Everyone will appreciate it.
  9. The more you talk, the more ridiculous you sound. I would say that DB'ers spread more hate around than anyone else, but I can certainly say that you may turn that tide if you keep up with these posts. You're losing appreciation from DB outsiders everytime you come on with this crap. Don't mind you talking, but how about getting back to football. And, by the way, size does make a difference. Don't even try to argue that. No, go ahead, argue that.
  10. Well, I'm gonna have to recall my original comment-----I complimented you on your post, first time I saw you this year, but now yOu are beginning to get annoying. Who cares about about what DB has done over the last 200 years or what TN High hasn't done. DB should own all the teams around here, look at the number of students you have. That is why there is a 6A and 5A, etc. Your comments and other thread about DB-Haters---ridiculous. Grow up.
  11. "Confusion say", hahahahaha, who is confusion, idiot. Did you mean Confusius??
  12. Hello, IM4, I think they may be doing something (heard something about retiring #54 jersey) but also know that there was some talk about keeping it all somewhat at a low level. So, actually, I don't know---I just don't know. Mainly wanted to say that you have gained by respect already, you are different from some of the DB folk that has one goal---to put down South----like Whacko and this new Otis guy. Can you tell me what drives people to do that? I know alot of good folks from DB and these other wack-jobs are, I would think, embarrasing to them. But then again, the whackos of the world probably don't care about that either. I know there are South people that go on the DB thread and stir it up, as well. I wish they would'nt do that. You won't see me on here much, mainly like to read intelligent football info, but little of that on here these days.
  13. JUst been sittin and readin, crawdad. This team has it's share of challenges this year (totally different challenges from last year's team, thank goodness), and I gonna take up for them. They need all us behind them, no room for sissies or complainers or analyst that don't have the straight poop. Kind of nice to see some new names on the board, hope you all come out to watch. Opinions are better formed 1st hand.
  14. I'm hearing 6'ish. Might want to be there 15 min.till. Not sure if it's at stadium or Practice field.
  15. Hey, Fitness4life, That's funny. I'd love to know who those "insiders" are. Have they been at practices?
  16. Absolutely. But the scrimmage Friday is at South, just so you'll know. O.k.??
  17. well, your reporter is wrong. If I am accurate, the score on the 1's was 4-2. Tackling was bad, we fumbled once in route to a score, and another time, I believe. Heath looked good, pass blocking was pretty good, given the exposure they have had to game-like circumstances. No run game, but QB did not run ball, except when flushed from the pass pocket. Got to have some hogs blocking for the run and got to have backs hitting the hole quickly, instead of searching. Tackling was bad, period; that will improve as they realize that they are not hitting someone from the practice squad---I hope. Some of the D problems, overall, was tackling, but most was fact that players were not making their reads and were in bad positions to make the tackle. HOT<HOT>HOT. People on here talking that coach has tried to overcondition them. Hogwash, should have got off the coach this summer and got to work. "When the going gets tough, the tough gets goin"---that doesn't refer to goin home. IT means goin and getting it in gear. C.Carter is gone; get on board the Haynie train. No place for doubters or desenters. He's the man--support him.
  18. Was Tallman a signee or a "preferred walk-on"? I'm not sure what the technical answer is. He is walking on with hopes (promises) of scholarship money after the first year. As I watched him go thru the recruiting process, shortly after VA-T made it known that they wanted him to walk on, it seemed that all other options were "out the window"--I think Bradley was set all along on VA-T. He's a great kid, with great parents, and I hope his dreams come true. What about Taylor Harmon--is he going somewhere?? Core...you either get a scholarship or you walk-on. There is no middle ground. Preferred walk-on is preferred of course, but never the less...a walk-on. They have no obligation and you get no guarantees. Obviously he has potential. But it is what it is. You are correct. My insecurity was a result of not knowing exactly what a "preferred walkon" is. I supposed that it means he was invited to walk on, rather than asking to walk on. I was not sure what Bradley was "promised", so didn't want to mis-state anything. I know another local player who was invited to walk-on, (and liked the campus and the coaching staff) but was not willing to risk paying out-of-state tuition for one year in the hopes of making it big. After all, if they don't want you bad enough to offer a scholarship, just how excited about you are they?? This player has signed, subsequently, anyway, so it worked out for the best. Another learning-----there are college recruiters that are arrogant and nontrustworthy. There are recruiters who are sincere and honest and really good people. But in the end, the recruiting game is a cut throat proposition, and it is "industry" wide, bar none. It is a job, and their job is dependent on "production". They all want the #1 players, and they string along the #3's and #4's, until the #1's are gobbled up by another school. If they get the #1, then they drop the 3's and 4's like yesterday's fatback. Anyone hoping to enter the recruiting ranks, and any parents supporting them, need to understand that going in, for , although it is often exciting, it is a cruel process, ---a day-to-day up-and-down roller coaster, not to mention a Full-Time Workload. Now, back to Bradley---Bradley has chosen to take the Hard Road, but he knows what he wants, apparently, and is willing to make the sacrifice. I've alot of respect for him for that.
  19. Crawdad---just wondering------What is your favorite wild game when it comes to hunting? I'm just asking?
